SAE Institute is a private college previously known as the School of Audio Engineering. In the year 1976, the institute was founded in Sydney by Tom Misner. It offers courses in multimedia, 3D animation, graphic design, game design, digital filmmaking and music production, and audio engineering.
SAE Institute has partnerships with Middleton University in London and the Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media of Folkwang University of the Arts in Germany. In Asia, SAE is located in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, India. SAE is also located all over the United States like in Miami, San Francisco, Nashville, Atlanta, LA, and Chicago. The criteria used for selecting an application for SAE courses are a three-fold process. It is different for domestic and international applicants. Fees are published for each course following guidelines and advice from the New Zealand Government, depending on factors like funding and others. Under Audio Production, there is a 3-year full-time bachelor's degree and a 1-year full-time diploma degree. The bachelor of music production degree is a 3-year full-time course that helps you develop skills as a music producer. Diploma in Electronic Music Production is a 1-year full-time course. Under the film program, there is a 3-year full-time screen production and a 1-year full-time diploma in screen production.
SAE Institute holds the annual SAE Awards which is the most prestigious creative-media competition where you can show your best creative work and win an award for yourself or your campus. SAE Auckland is recognized by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), New Zealand Tertiary Education Commission (TEC), the New Zealand Ministry of Education (MoE), Education New Zealand and StudyLink.
