A research focused experience with great learning.
Tips: Students should do basic research about the coursework as it requires time management, as we have lots of practical assignments including group projects or theoretical assignments. My transition here was quite smooth but I had to deal with some cultural differences as the coursework is more self paced and not too hectic but there are deadlines. I got a 10% scholarship because I had scored well in my bachelor's. I'm quite satisfied with the country and my university as I'm gaining lots of practical experience and developing research based skills.
Likes (Part time work): There are lots of part time work options either on campus or off campus. On campus roles can be a library assistant, working in a university cafe, or being a student ambassador. Off campus jobs have lots of options including retail, warehousing, hospitality and supermarket which lots of students do. Managing part time along with academics is not difficult if you can manage the time well since you only get limited hours per fortnight during your ongoing semester but if you have one, you can use it on basic expenses. Average payout would be around 25-30AUD but it depends on the work experience you have had before.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I'm currently in my 3rd sem and I haven't had the chance to explore the jobs yet. Also from what I have experienced or got to know from other students, I can say that securing one depends on your skills, connections and experience. One would have to apply for the post study visa to get a job but some companies do offer visa sponsorship. Graduates from my field can get into jobs such as lab technician, research assistant or in the QC field with salaries ranging from 50,000 AUD to 70,000AUD based on experience or the company.

Vibrant and friendly student life.
Tips: Students should apply for their TFN, ABN and USI numbers as well as a valid Victorian driving licence. They should purchase a myki card for computing and a reasonable sim card. I received a scholarship. I highlight all the essential information in my SOP and that's how the university offered me a scholarship. RMIT is an amazing university and is worth experiencing an enriching academic environment.
Likes (Student Life): Student life is vibrant on the city campus of RMIT. Free breakfast options on Wednesday and Thursday. Absolutely phenomenal student events are conducted throughout the academic year and student life is very enriching. One can enrol on sports or music or dance or social service student communities if interested.
Dislikes (Part time work): Although companies used to visit the campus for offering part time job opportunities, due to varied preferences like mandatory Australian citizenship, driving licence, PR requirements, etc., and the high volume of students applying to a specific job role decreased the chances of grabbing the opportunities. Average payout is 24 AUD per hour. Part time is manageable, it really depends on how individual students make it work for themselves. Some students were working 3-4 odd jobs as well. Students can also grab casual job opportunities where they have the liberty to choose their work timings. Off campus jobs are available via a few portals like GradConnect or prospel or seek.

Diverse and supportive campus environment.
Tips: Before joining the college students should know that it emphasis independent learning, critical thinking and originality. So choose a course you are genuinely passionate about is essential to keep up academically. My transition was challenging at first due to the difference in teaching style, classroom interaction and lifestyle, but the diverse and supportive campus environment helped me adjust smoothly. I also availed a merit base scholarship by applying during the admission process with my academic records, which provided partial financial support towards tuition and living expenses. I am very satisfied with my university course and the country as the experience has been academically, enriching, cultural, diverse, and personally rewarding.

Associate Degree in Aviation (Professional Pilots) - Batch of 2025
4.1
Good and fun university experience.
Tips: Choosing a niche degree, as I did in aviation. It makes your university experience better, due to a smaller class size and cohort, diverse people and varied learning. Professors know you well and the competition you face from many home country students is less. A lot of competition in data Science or IT and no class diversity. Do not blindly rely on immigration advice and recognised agents. Laws tend to change by the time you graduate. Every international student usually gets a 20% scholarship on their RMIT offer letter. For other unis, apply early and confirm your enrollment decision early, to avail scholarships. They are merit based and also depend on your performance each semester or trimester. You can also minimise your subject study loads by credit transfers if you have course outcomes and transcript documents from your previous university evaluated. Do not do too many credit transfers and try to complete a semester as it shortens your visa. University reputation doesn't matter much to get jobs. It doesn't have to fall in legacy Australian G8S. However don't switch to ghost universities to save tuition, as they are not listed when doing company job applications online. Try to do part time work in organisations to develop workplace skills rather than food delivery and ride share taxi jobs. Be active in university and ambassador programs. Go to coffee meetups and networking events to develop mentor-mentee relationships for 1-2 years before asking for a referral.
Likes (Indian Food): I prefer cooking for myself as that's cheaper. However plenty of vegan and vegetarian options are available in Melbourne city - for example, Crossways restaurant on Swanston Street, Three Brother restaurant on Elizabeth Street, Bhoj at Docklands, Sarvanna Bhavan, Dosa Hut and Chilli India, on King Street. DoorDash is a grocery and food delivery app that has good options too. Dosa usually costs around 15-18 dollars. Biriyani for 18-25 dollars. Usually meals are around 20 dollars.
Dislikes (Internships): There is guidance however, in my field, global opportunities are better than Australian opportunities. Aviation in Australia requires a background check like PR/citizens and security clearance (ASIC), due to a safety focused industry. RMIT Aviation is recognised globally. There is will or work integrated learning (unpaid) as a subject to take up for university credit, if you get an offer letter for an internship in a small to medium sized startup company or internship programs in larger companies.

Master of Data Science - Batch of 2027

Fun and vibrant student life.
Tips: This is a very good university. I don't think you'll regret coming over here. The value for money is good. It is located in the main area. The connectivity is good. The study environment is fast-paced and quite independent. You will have to spend time in the library with your friends or else by yourself.
Likes (Part time work): A lot of events are going on in the university. There are clubs like RUSU, RIC. They organise events like Disco, Disco deewane, Garba event, etc. I have enjoyed myself a lot with my friends at those events. A good place to connect and make new friends. There's an event every Tuesday under the Kirrip Club at RMIT. So Tuesdays are fun, we play a lot of games, video games, cars, chess, and stuff like that on Tuesdays. We get to meet new people over there.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The quality of faculty is good. They are very friendly. You can go to them and ask about any doubts that you have in your mind. They would help you solve the doubt. We can book the session if we are not comfortable asking questions in class. The faculty is very accessible and approachable. They respond to emails within a reasonable time. Good experiences.

Great learning experience.
Tips: Students should know that the workload is fast paced but the learning environment is very supportive. Transitioning here was smooth with easy VISA process. I got a lot of help from IDP. I also availed a scholarship of a 20% tuition fee waiver.
Dislikes (Safety): The campus feels safe with security, CCTV and late night support but the city can be crowded at times. Plus, the tram connectivity with proper public transport, multiple routes, makes travel easier and comfortable. It's a good experience.
