Q:   Which is better RMIT or the University of Melbourne?

A: 
If we talk about the acceptance rate of University of Melbourne, then the university is lightly selective with an acceptance rate of around 70%. On the other hand, the acceptance rate of RMIT University is around 22%. However, when it comes to QS World University Rankings, then the University of Melbourne ranks much better than RMIT. In 2023 QS rankings, RMIT ranks at 190th position, whereas, the University of Melbourne ranks at #33rd position. RMIT offers a range of scholarships to international students. Future Leaders Scholarship is offered to international students belonging to countries like India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal or Pakistan who will start their Bachelor or Master by coursework programme at RMIT University. As per this scholarship, 20% fee tuition fee reduction for the programme duration outlined on your offer letter is done. RMIT also welcomes students who have scholarship funded by their home government.
 

Q:   Does RMIT provide scholarships for international students?

A: 

Yes, RMIT University offers a range of scholarships to international students beginning their studies across all the study fields. One such scholarship is Future Leaders Scholarship. A: 

To pursue a Master of Data Science course at RMIT University, students must have:

  • An Australian bachelor’s degree in Computing, Science, Engineering, Health or Statistics with a good GPA of minimum 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent OR
  • Students can also be considered if they have an Australian bachelor’s degree with a GPA of minimum 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent and
  • Relevant completed courses in Programming and Statistics in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree or a minimum three years’ of current, relevant work experience or professional practice as a Statistician, Programmer or equivalent

Apart from the above-given academic requirements, international students are required to submit English language proficiency test scores. They can submit the scores of IELTS  (6.5 overall) / TOEFL  (79 overall) / PTE Academic  (58) / Cambridge English (Minimum of 176 with no less than 169 in any component).
