UNSW Sydney Admissions 2026: Requirements, Application Deadlines & Fees

Yes, it has an acceptance rate of 60% for international students. As of now, UNSW has 21,000 foreign students, 1200 of whom are from India and study in a variety of fields. 

Indian applicants should have academic admission scores for the selected UNSW degree. Each degree page includes a list of international direct entry scores.

English language requirements

The University of New South Wales (UNSW) is widely regarded as a renowned and respected university. With an acceptance rate of around 60%,  the University of New South Wales is somewhat selective in admissions of international students. According to the QS World Rankings 2024, the University of New South Wales has a world ranking of #19 in 2023, it has a ranking of #45.  

Getting admission to the University of New South Wales from India can be a moderately competitive affair. Indian students are generally required to meet the UNSW entry requirements as given below -

• A score of 80% or higher in CBSE exams along with a good score in the English language exam
• For the postgraduate courses, students need a UG degree with 60 to 65% marks

The non-refundable application cost is AUD 150 (INR 8,087). You can pay through the UNSW Portal or by international money transfer using a credit or debit card. All payments must be made in Australian dollars. The university will not process your application if the application fee is not paid, hence it must be paid at the time of submission. They prefer convera for overseas payment.

2. Examine the entry requirements. Evaluate your academic and English language requirements.
3. Send in your application. Apply directly online or through a UNSW agent. 

A non-refundable application fee of AUD 125 is chargeable to international students while applying to the University of New South Wales. Once you submit the fee your application is processed and the university reverts back through mail within two to three weeks. 

If your application is accepted, you will either receive a full offer or a conditional offer if further steps are required. You need to provide all the necessary documents required,  Statement of Purpose  (SOP), Personal Statement,  Letter of Motivation  (LOM), or university essays (as per course requirements). 

The acceptance rate for UNSW is 60% although it might vary to different courses.In the QS World University Rankings (2023), UNSW Sydney is ranked 45th. This research institution was placed 70th in the world in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (2023). The low acceptance rate is most likely due to the University of New South Wales' outstanding academic rankings and distinguished academic programmes.

USW has launched the ambitious 2025 strategy, which aims to recruit worldwide researchers, students, and academics. focused towards increasing academic excellence. The 2025 strategy will support innovation and globalisation through social interactions. In 2018, the university offered 61 Indian students "future of change" scholarships ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, including a full cost remission for a Bengaluru medical graduate undertaking a two-year public health study.
