History
In 2003, the University of Antwerp was established. But, the roots of the university goes back to when two commercial institutes were founded in Antwerp, the Sint-Ignatius Handelshogeschool and the Rijkshandelshogeschool. Then, in 1965 these two institutes gained university status and became faculties of Economics Science. A third institute was founded in 1971, the UIA. Then, in 1973, these three institutes began to cooperate as a confederation under the name - University of Antwerp.
