Q:   What are the eligibility requirements for international students applying to North Island College?
A: 

International applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of applying or during the first term. They should have graduated secondary school or equivalent for undergraduate-level courses and have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent for the postgraduate Diploma and certificate courses.  Students may need to fulfil other subject-specific criteria for admission to their selected program.

BBA Admission Requirements

The college offers a BBA degree in Accounting, General Management, and Marketing. Applicants should have graduated high school with completion of university-level Math course or equivalent, such as:

  • C+ in Foundations of Math 11
  • C in Pre-Calculus 11
  • C in Principles of Math 11
  • C in Applications of Math 12

Postgraduate Diploma Requirements

An accredited bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three academic years from a recognised institution and a C+ in Foundations of Math 11 or equivalent.

English Language Requirements

International students need any of these exam scores as proof of English proficiency:

Q:   What is the cost of living of North Island College?
A: 

Currently, NIC does not offer student accommodation on any of its campuses. Thus, international students need to arrange for accommodation before arriving in Canada. Students can either pick homestays/roomstays or go for the private rentals option. NIC recommends that students should make temporary arrangements to stay in a local motel for a week or two after they arrive.

Cost of Living

The cost of living for international students depends on their lifestyle choices such as owning a car or taking the bus and sharing accommodation or renting a place. Here is an estimate to help students figure out a budget for living costs while studying at NIC:

Q:   Does North Island College provides any scholarship for international students?
A: 

International applicants can avail themselves of a number of scholarships such as the English Proficiency Award, University Pathway Entrance Scholarship, Language Pathway Student Awards, International Regional Award, and Emerging Leaders of the Americas Scholarship.

English Proficiency Award: Applicants from any country can avail of this award. Students are automatically considered for this one-time scholarship which is applied to the student’s tuition and credited to the student account. Applicants who have the following scores are eligible for this award:

  • Students with the overall IELTS 6.5/TOEFL iBT 80/ CAEL 60: CAD 500
  • Students with the overall IELTS 7.0/TOEFL iBT 94/CAEL 67: CAD 1,000
  • Students with the overall IELTS 7.5/TOEFL iBT 102/CAEL 74 or above: CAD 1,500
  • Students with the overall Duolingo English Test 120 or higher: CAD 1,000

University Pathway Entrance Scholarship: An amount of CAD 2,000 is credited to the student account that covers the tuition fee. Recipients are selected based on their academic achievement. Selected students are informed one month before the start of the program.

Language Pathway Student Awards: Applicants from NIC’s Language Pathway can apply for this award. Each intake, three students are selected for this award and an amount of CAD 1,000 is conferred on each of them. An essay is required for this award’s application process.

International Regional Award: This entrance award is for applicants from regions where NIC actively and selectively recruits new students. All applicants are automatically reviewed for this award.

Emerging Leaders of the Americas Scholarship: Partner schools in ELAP-designated countries can nominate students for this scholarship. Thus, Indian students may not be eligible for this scholarship.

 

Q:   What is the IELTS requirement for North Island College?
A: 

All the courses at North Island College rae mostly taught in English. Therefore each applicant is required to submit North Island College IELTS requirement.

A: 

North Island College application fee is CAD 100 = INR 6,159.36. The application fee can be paid through Credit card, Debit card, and Wire money transfer. Make sure to submit it otherwise the university won't consider your application. Apart from the fees applicants need to fulfill other required documents.

The NIC enrolls nearly 80% of international students. The college is not very competitive to get selected into the university.
