My Experience Transitioning to University Life in Germany
Tips: It has been an easy transition to Germany, although getting used to the language, the culture, the weather, and independent living has taken some time. I have noticed a change in the culture, particularly in the way people communicate, the sense of timing, and the attitude towards education and personal space. I have not applied for any scholarships, so I do not have much information about the scholarship program and the allowance. I am really happy with the university and the course, as there is enough exposure to the real world and to learning AI thoroughly.

Reality of German public universities!!
Tips: There are a lot of things to know when coming to Germany for studies. One of the most important things is that public universities are in tier-2 cities, and because of this, most of the people speak only German. There are scholarships such as DAAD, etc. Based on some eligibilities and requirements.
Likes (Student Life): My college has a very structured academic and also they have a lot of opportunities to work with lecturers and on study projects, which helps us to build our knowledge quite often. There are communities based on nationality, department, etc. This will also help in many areas.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Most of the restaurants are German restaurants, and Indian restaurants are also quite expensive, and the taste is below average. On average, if you're Indian, it's better to cook at your house than to go out to eat Indian food. The Indian food is specifically bland because most of the customers are German, and they hate spicy food (even minimal spice).

Tips: After getting your university offer, you have to apply for a student ID on their website. I would suggest that before landing in Germany, you also learn the language. BTU conducts more events for international students to get to know each other. Affordable education with good career opportunities.
Tips: The transition can take some time, especially due to language barriers and culture difference. I did not receive any scholarship, affordable education didn't make me feel that I need one. Overall, I am satisfied with my university, course, and life in Germany.
Likes (Value for money): Germany offers great value for the money due to low tuition fees at public universities. The quality of education and good career opportunities make it worth the cost. And the semester ticket, which you get from university with that you get the free transportation across the whole city.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Indian food options are quite limited, and eating out is quite expensive, usually costing around 15-25 euros per meal. That's why I prefer cooking at home more often, because it's economical and I prepare food according to my taste. There are some Indian restaurants, but the variety is very limited.

In Germany, there are no tuition fees for public universities.
Tips: There are a lot of Indian students here, so after coming here, I made a lot of new friends. All of them were so kind to me. So, my transition period was very smooth. Some cultural shifts happen on campus. I try to join in if I am free that day. I haven't gotten any scholarships yet. I'm hoping to get an RA position next winter semester. I am fully satisfied with my university. My course of study is Environment and Resource Management, and it is really interesting. Germany is also a beautiful country, and I think you would like it too.
Likes (Value for money): In Germany, there are no tuition fees for public universities, so you don't have to pay anything. At BTU, you may have to pay 340 euros per semester, but you also get a semester ticket that is valid for whole Germany! So, it's truly value for money.
Dislikes (Part time work): On-campus jobs aren’t that available, only if you're an RA. You have to rely on off-campus jobs only, which are very hard to find now. If you don’t know German well, then it will be a huge problem to find a job. If you do a part-time job, then it’s really manageable to perform academic tasks simultaneously. You have to choose your course wisely so that you can balance your job and study. The average payout for part-time jobs is 12.82 euros per hour now, the lowest salary you can get. Though many companies or restaurants pay more than this, this amount is the minimum wage they have to give.

Flexible course, small classes, low living cost and affordable city.
Tips: The M.Sc. in AI at BTU Cottbus is flexible and research-focused. The students have to be self-driven because they are expected to manage their own learning. The course is taught in English, knowing basic German will help in daily life. Small cases, low living costs and an affordable city.
Likes (Safety): The city I live in is totally safe because it's not too big and not too small. You have the police force everywhere for your protection. Best of all, I've never heard of any criminal cases since I've been living here. This city is really safe.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are a lot of restaurants in the city, but I don't like the food here. It's made according to German tastes, less spicy and less salty, and that’s why I don't like it, but many students still eat there. But here in Cottbus, there are five or six Indian restaurants where you can eat your favourite food, and the cost is also cheap.

Perfect work-life balance.
Tips: Make sure to find accommodation before arriving at BTU Cottbus, or you might face a long, stressful city registration and housing search. Finding some part-time work won't be too difficult, and since there are no tuition fees, your finances will be much easier to manage. Make sure you focus on academics and don't neglect your German language classes. With a Deutschland ticket, the transportation is free for the entire semester. It costs you around 298€ for the entire semester, and you can avail yourself to travel in any means of transportation all over Germany except ICE trains. City and regional transportation are included.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I need to cook by myself rather than eating outside because of the pricing. If you stay in a group, your monthly food expenses can drop to 150 or maybe even less. There are a few Indian restaurants, but you'll probably find them expensive. I would suggest learning how to cook before you come.

Tips: There is a significant cultural difference between my country and Germany. Language is a barrier here. There is a communication difference. Other than that, everything is good. Most of my professors are all experienced. Not only are they experienced at teaching, but they also have practical experience in my chosen industry.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It’s difficult being a vegetarian in Berlin. I’ve tried some restaurants, but they are quite expensive. Also, the few Indian food stores I found have a limited selection of veggies from India, so it’s not very exciting for me.

Extremely research-oriented and well diverse.
Tips: The education at the Brandenburg University of Technology is superb, so don't worry about that, but I would advise you to have at least a B1 proficiency in German before you move to Germany. The university is very supportive, and they make sure you know how to cook because the food here is not meant for Indian tastes. Besides that, everything else is manageable. The faculty members here are extremely experienced in their field, and they work for big MNCS and do teaching out of passion. They are supportive and make sure you interact with them so that they remember your face. This will be really helpful when you are looking for internships because they have great connections. In Germany, the food is expensive and doesn’t usually have much flavour. So I’d suggest getting a grocery delivery service and cooking your own food if you’re from India. It’s hard to get spices here, and no one knows what Indian food is.

Tips: Before joining, students should know the course structure, living cost, and language requirements. The cultural shift is noticeable but manageable. I also wasn't given a scholarship.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): The country offers a strong pathway for skilled professionals to settled permanent, with good quality of life and career opportunities. Given the chance, I would definitely like to immigrate permanent as I believe my qualifications and experience align well with the country's needs.
Dislikes (Part time work): While part-time work is available both on-campus, like library or research assistant and off-campus, like retail or warehouse jobs, German language skills greatly improve opportunities. Balancing work and studies is manageable with good time management, and the average pay ranges from 12–15 euros/hour.

Try public universities and refrain from coming to Germany at this point of time- No jobs
Tips: The one I studied is quite expensive. Try the public institutions such as Universität Bremen; if possible, they are quite cheaper, around 1000 euros (upper limit) per semester. I did my PhD at Universität Bremen. But I would still recommend the students not come to Germany at this point in time. The job market is highly volatile and really bad. And the language requirements are extremely high. Already the ones that are settled in Germany are not finding jobs. So please refrain from coming to Germany at this point in time.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation has been good in Germany as compared to India since always. The frequency is quite high, and the quality is really good. Unlike the US, you don't need a car for traveling within most of the places in Europe or Germany. So in terms of traveling, Europe is the best.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer eating outside. And the options available here are not comparatively the same and are quite expensive. The same goes with Indian supermarket stores for buying Indian products. They are quite expensive, at least in Bremen. Berlin and Munich have better options.

Tips: The tuition at Constructor University is definitely on the higher side, especially compared to public German universities, so you really have to weigh the cost against what you're getting. What you are paying for is a private, English-speaking campus in Bremen with a ridiculously international student body—you’re living in residential colleges with people from over 100 countries, which makes campus life incredible.
On the job front, you need to understand how career support works in Germany before coming here. Constructor doesn't run traditional 'campus placements' where companies come to hand out job offers. Instead, the Career Services team hosts corporate fairs, networking events, and company workshops to help you connect with partner firms.At the end of the day, getting hired in Germany is on you—you have to network, apply early, and learn decent German. But if you actually use the university's corporate events and stay organized, the degree pays off.

Good, if you are looking for the study.
Tips: The single biggest piece of advice I can give anyone considering Constructor University is to start learning German before you step foot in Bremen. Because Constructor is a fully English-speaking, private campus, it’s ridiculously easy to get lulled into a false sense of security. Inside the campus bubble, everyone speaks English, but the moment you step outside to apply for part-time jobs, student roles (Werkstudent positions), or internships, reality hits hard.
The local job market in Germany is brutal if you don't speak the language. English-only part-time jobs are rare and get swamped with hundreds of applicants. If you want to land a decent gig to cover your monthly living expenses, having at least B1 or B2 German under your belt is practically non-negotiable. On top of that, brace yourself for a genuine culture shock—from navigating strict German rules and bureaucracy to getting used to a much more reserved, direct communication style in everyday life. If you come prepared with basic language skills and realistic expectations, your transition will be ten times smoother.

Tips: Before coming here, the biggest thing to keep in mind is that integrating takes actual effort on your part. Respecting local customs and picking up basic everyday phrases in the local language will make your life ten times easier—locals really appreciate when you try, and it instantly breaks the ice.
On the financial side, don't rely on getting a huge merit scholarship right off the bat, as funding is pretty limited. That said, there are decent on-campus job options available for registered students, like working in the library, admin offices, or dining halls.
