CBS International Business School: Smooth Academics, Heavy Tuition & External Bureaucratic Delays
Tips: But the moment you step outside the classroom, a very different Germany greets you.
The paperwork alone can break you. Getting a residence permit, registering your address, setting up a block account — tasks that sound straightforward — can stretch into months of waiting, resubmitting, and waiting again. Public offices run on physical letters and ink stamps. Appointments are scarce. Staff often refuse to speak English, not because they can’t, but because they won’t. For a student still finding their footing in a new country, standing at a counter being waved away because your German isn’t good enough isn’t a language lesson — it’s just demoralising.
The Ausländerbehörde, the immigration office, deserves its own mention. Chronically backlogged and stubbornly analog, it routinely leaves students in legal limbo for months — waiting for a basic permit extension, unable to plan, unable to move forward. You’re not a person in that queue. You’re a file.
Socially, it takes time. Germans tend to have tight, long-standing friend groups, and breaking in as a foreigner requires patience and a degree of persistence that nobody warns you about.
And just when you think you’ve figured it out, you get a letter informing you that you owe €18 a month for public broadcasting — whether you own a TV, a radio, or absolutely nothing.
Germany offers a genuinely world-class education. It just makes you earn it in ways the brochure never mentions.

International and Practical, but Expensive
Tips: CBS offers practical and international programs, but students should be prepared for relatively high tuition fees and plan their finances and accommodation carefully. My transition to Germany was smooth overall, although the culture is more structured and punctual, and learning German helps a lot in daily life and job searches.

Learn, Challenges and Opportunities
Tips: Before joining Garden University, students should research the course structure, tuition fees, and career opportunities carefully. Since it is a private university. Learning German is very important for finding a job in Germany. Students should be prepared to manage their studies.
Likes (Indian Food): I rated it 5 because there are plenty of Indian restaurants offering Kerala-style dishes. Where I can find food and ingredients from my home country, India. It is a little bit expensive. I prefer cooking at home is best. However I also enjoy eating outside occasionally to explore.
Dislikes (Student Life): My overall experience is moderate. Although I had the chance to study in an international setting, I found that there should have been more opportunities for student interaction and networking. An overall improvement in student interaction and networking would be a good thing.

The best university in Berlin which gives you a UK based education in Germany.
Tips: After moving to Germany, I have learned more about the culture and traditions of the German people. Punctuality and language are more important in Germany. They provide scholarships. I am happy to be a part of Garden University. The course has taught me more about how supply chain works.

Nice, but there are other options better go for public uni
Tips: You are on your own for a job. You will get guidance and all trips and tickets provided by the college and services like career and resume guidance. You can also bargain for the feels. My course is for 1 year, but I would suggest you take a 2-year course at least, which helps in searching for a werkstudent. The one-year course cost me 8000. The faculty is really good and supportive. They provide free entrance to the job fair. Conduct trips monthly, but no service for semester tickets for transportation.

The overall experience is great, faculty is super helpful and clubs as well
Tips: The transition is not that different or difficult. There is little, but college doesn't make us feel that. They also explain the culture in their special cultural classes. No, there are, I think, no scholarships available. I am satisfied but should provide placement opportunities as well.
Likes (Student Life): Took classes and joined clubs. I enjoy talking with the diverse people. All types of events are being organized, whether cultural or musical. I couldn't participate in all but tried to participate in my program ones. And it's good to take part in clubs. There are several clubs, as I am part of the English debate club.
Dislikes (Internships): If your course doesn't provide a mandatory internship, you have to find one yourself, and it takes time, so start early to get the relevant internship for your job. It will be more helpful if they have connections with companies that want to provide internships to students.

MSc in Engineering Management - Batch of 2026

4.4
There is a significant language barrier, making it considerably difficult to secure internships.
Tips: Arden University offers flexibility and English language programs and a strategic Berlin location with a solid support system. It's important to weigh advantages against potential downsides such as its private status and limited recognition in Germany. If your priorities include a UK based program style but you want to learn in.
Likes (Indian Food): There are many restaurants offering food from various cultures. As an Indian specifically from South India I've found many South Indian restaurants throughout Berlin. If you prefer homemade meals that's also very easy as you can find all the ingredients including many spices imported directly from India.
Dislikes (Internships): There is a significant language barrier making it considerably difficult to secure internships. As a UK based private university the college can offer guidance in finding internships which is helpful. To find jobs or internships in Germany a strong command of the German language is essential.
