BS in Statistics - Batch of 2027

Exploring my academic potential.
Tips: My transition here was surprisingly smooth and I found the city peaceful and welcoming especially compared to more fast paced cities. The orientation and first week or so here is all you'll need and you'll figure your way out. Keep time for jet lag and accommodation hunting. Classes are interesting but discussion heavy too so you'll be required to participate more.

Learning and growing each day.
Tips: Some of the programs here are intense but will leave you feeling very prepared. What stood out to me was the co op programs and the industrial experience and also the fact that Cincinnati is more affordable than most other places in the US. Limited on campus jobs and also limited time to actually dedicate to them. Great learning though.

Come prepared and you'll learn a lot.
Tips: I did not expect the work load to get this rigorous from the very beginning but I can't complain as it has truly benefited me a lot. Living in a different country has its charm of it's own; there will be days of feeling overwhelmed but the routine and people here make it easier to adjust. If you manage to get an internship here it will be easier to land a job as well but times are unpredictable so we can't really tell.

Beautiful campus situated in a quaint town with cool vibes.
Tips: This particular university has a lot of Telugu folks, which can be a language barrier for people from other states. The professors and advisors are very approachable and helpful. This school provides scholarships of around 12,000 per semester for MS Thesis programs. The VLSI track has a good set of professors and the courses are well designed.
Likes (Public transportation): The shuttle service by the university is very convenient for travelling to college. There is a bus and metro service which runs through downtown Cincinnati, at very low fares for UC students. You can travel by the metro bus for free if you sign up with your college email.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There is an Ohio diversity internship programme which allows students to gain experience through CPT, which might later convert into full time jobs. Career fairs are held but not many companies come for core VLSI ( ECE) job roles. Reaching out to seniors for referrals and through networking on LinkedIn has worked for many in this field. The average salary of alumni who got jobs is around 120,000 for a Master's.

Good for developing your career.
Tips: Academic life here is intense and can honestly feel endless depending on your programme but the professors are very established and help in restructuring your focus and ability. Courses are theory heavy so office hours and group study clubs helped me stay afloat. As for on campus jobs, you can expect to get paid around 12-18 per hour if you get one. Tips: You'll be required to be as self disciplined as possible and classes are project heavy but the TAs I have had so far have been quite helpful. When it comes to jobs on campus, you're more likely to get one as an undergraduate as compared to a post graduation. Balancing presentations and group projects with coursework can be quite tiring but you will learn a lot in the process.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part time work has been one of the trickiest aspects for me here so far. There are limited spots hiring on campus and they are occupied super quickly. Payout is fairly decent but the time constraints and availability can cause hindrance for finding part time work.

I feel that this college is such a nice place to explore things and travel to reach our aspirations.
Tips: I've become more determined in my work since coming here. I've experienced a bit of a cultural shift, but I was looking forward to that. Unfortunately, I did not receive any scholarships. My day at UC starts with an on-campus part-time job and ends with classes. The class schedule is flexible, so students can arrange their timetable around their part-time hours. There are many types of events on campus, including regional events, blood drives, and awareness programs. There is also a wide range of student clubs and organizations that are very helpful in the growth of students. I'm really happy with the college, the course, and the country.
Dislikes (Safety): The faculty in my department are highly accessible and approachable. The teaching methodologies are unique in that the LMS has all the course modules, which allows us to preview the concepts before class. The teaching faculty is diverse in terms of nationality. I have professors from India, Japan, China, the USA, and Africa.

Amazing University but could use some help in being diverse and inclusive.
Tips: The experience was full of ups and downs. I applied to the university during the application process and was accepted. I was very satisfied with the University of Cincinnati. There are a lot of opportunities, especially for the parents and family ambassador job. The hours are very flexible. The Digital Philanthropy Associate job has fixed hours and must be followed accordingly. If you manage your time well, both jobs are pretty manageable. The starting pay rate for both jobs is 10 Dollars per hour.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are multiple companies, but not enough jobs that align with a Business Analytics major. Data analyst, tax accountant, data entry, financial modelling, risk management, insurance management, and wealth management are all positions that start at 75,000 Dollars.

Tips: University offers diverse programs and a vibrant campus life, with ample resources and support services for students. The inclusive environment helps ease any cultural shift. Scholarships are available based on merit. The application process is pretty straightforward.
Likes (Indian Food): There are numerous Indian restaurants in Cincinnati, and quite a few around the university campus. There's plenty of options catering to both south and north Indians. If you enjoy cooking, you can find all the ingredients at the nearest Indian grocery store.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The current market situation is not very favorable and lot of companies are looking for candidates that do not require any visa sponsorship. Quite a few of my peers from the programme are working as data/ business analyst, develops and project managers.

Student life is great here. Affordable transportation.
Tips: You won't see any cultural shift cause you try to live mostly with your community people. I received a scholarship of 4,000 $ along with admission. Our course strength is 70 so the effectiveness of teaching is more. My advice is to aim for college and courses that have less strength. In mass numbers like 600-700, it's absolutely waste of time cause maximum cases learning curve will be very low and there will be a lot of scrap around you.
Likes (Student Life): Cincinnati is affordable, and there are lot of openings for data roles in the city. Campus shuttles save you money and energy, college transportation facilities are really good. Coming to cultural activities there Indian associations led my undergrad students so they will cover the most celebrated festivities.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are lot of incoming students so it's becoming difficult to find on-campus part-time, off-campus you need to be prepared to travel for long distances. Time management depends on the course, our course had 10 subjects per semester and you can imagine how many assignments we will be dealing with on a daily basis. Average pay for part-time is 10$.

Expense-wise it is quite reasonable and with a good Co-op program.
Tips: There are scholarship chances. Apply as early as possible. In case, you don't get a scholarship apply for TA and RA positions. MS Information Systems is a fast-paced programme. You will not get to learn courses in-depth but you will get exposure to different IT domains.
Likes (Internships): The University of Cincinnati has a good Co-op programme. MS Information Systems programme has a separate career counsellor and the programme Director conducts seminars every Friday. In these seminars, he brings representatives of the companies and students get to interact with them. Also, there are Career Fair. The programme requires you to complete 24 weeks of internship to graduate so along with academics, students start looking for internships from a very early stage.

Safety is an issue. But value for money overall.
Tips: Get ready to work. Things will not be easy. There is a good possibility for you to not get a part-time. Life is not going to be easy and it will be a big shift financially. Don't forget that you came here to study, which a lot of students forget down the track. This is generally with any university.
Likes (Value for money): The cost of living is rather cheap and you get scholarships based on merit as well. Your amount of expenditure vs income opportunities and risk of a job is better weighed when compared with other universities in the same level/cadre. Scholarship opportunities are big as well.
Dislikes (Safety): The safety in Cincinnati is less. I personally experienced a lot of shooting news and situations. Recently a fellow Indian student was shot too. So always be safe. The campus is close to downtown and has a lot of drug addicts on the road which can be an issue.

Amazing campus life but tough to find part-time jobs.
Tips: The University of Cincinnati has an amazing campus, life is never mundane here. There is always something to do in this city. The main campus has scenic views. All the campuses offer several classes. There are certain requirements and expectations from each and every student. I highly enjoyed my classes here, as they were challenging yet interesting. The majority of the professors are UC graduates. They start from the basics no matter how much previous experience you have. The university is affordable and offers several scholarships. Students should apply for scholarships around the fall of their senior year, as it increases their chances of getting aid. The transportation service is not a problem here as the university has a shuttle running all over the campus on weekdays. At last, I would say that it's a pretty decent university. After graduation, there are many opportunities knocking on your door.
Likes (Indian Food): Cincinnati has many top Indian food restaurants that serve good and tasty food. However, the level of spices used is a bit less when compared to my home country, but still, it is better than any other place. The restaurants offer various Indian dishes and a great ambience. Many students try to cook food on their own even if they don't know how to cook food properly. Well, that's what I have come across while being a student. It's always better to prepare food the way you want. Also, if I put the taste preference aside, the food served in restaurants is not very healthy and is costly at the same time.
Dislikes (Part time work): It is a bit tough to find a part-time job in Ohio, but sooner or later you will land with an opportunity. Most of the students receive around $ 8 as their minimum wage after tax deductions. We can work here for up to 20 hours a week if you are an international student. Both on-campus and off-campus part-time job opportunities are available, but it is a bit difficult to get an on-campus part-time job, as many students, including the local students, digging out for the same opportunity.

Good balance between life and academics
Tips: There are a lot of opportunities to explore various clubs/activities that happen around the year. A great place to express your passion/interest and pursue hobbies other than academics. Scholarships are available by default for most of the Master's programmes. Tuition fees are friendly on the pocket. A nice city to live in beyond academic tenure.
Likes (Indian Food): Lot of Indian restaurants and other cuisine options around the university area. One will never miss Indian food if one lives nearby to the university. Pricing is reasonable as well. Food delivery options are available as well. Most of the Indian restaurants offer a buffet for lunch.
Dislikes (Public transportation): Students can apply for free metro bus pass to take rides anywhere in the city. However, connectivity to all locations might not be there, and if it does, the frequency is less. Largely, one has to rely on Uber/Lyft if you do not wish to take public transportation or own a vehicle.

Has a good global reputation
Tips: If you're heading to Skema in France, you absolutely have to grind some French before you land. Seriously, do yourself a favor and at least clear the A1 level before arriving. A lot of international students assume they can get by on English, but the reality check hits hard—very few locals speak it outside the classroom, and doing daily stuff like grocery shopping or dealing with paperwork becomes a massive struggle. If you’re planning to look for a part-time gig to cover rent, it’s basically an uphill battle unless your French is completely fluent. You aren't going to land customer-facing roles or casual jobs just speaking English. The biggest reality check, though, is Skema's apprenticeship programs. They talk a lot about these setups, but the brutal truth for international students is that these company-sponsored tracks are pretty much locked down for French citizens or those with specific long-term EU work rights. It completely rules it out as a funding option for most of us, so you definitely shouldn't count on an alternance to pay your tuition.

Experience in SKEMA business school
Tips: Skema has a very good name; if we talk about them, they are here to help you. Eventually you have to put some effort in order to get results, in terms of internships, they will guide you, unlike India, to help you get an internship. Some professors can help you even with that, but it depends upon your skills and your dedication.
Likes (Internships): Look you seriously need to stay on top of the deadlines and get those applications out early if you want a shot. Do that, and you'll actually start getting some replies back. "It also makes a massive difference if you already have some solid work experience back in India. Over here, if you're a master's student without any relevant experience on your resume, just getting an interview is a total uphill battle. Oh, and honestly? French is absolute gold. The better your language skills are, the easier it’s going to be to actually land something.
Dislikes (Part time work): Getting part-time work over here is not that easy; they prefer full-time work for like 35 hours, and in bigger brands like McDonald's, it takes time to get into those roles, but it's not that easy, and getting some part-time is very difficult. Part-time gigs usually pay out around 800 to 1,000 euros a month.

Good one, a risk taken once is better than no risk at all!
Tips: French is mandatory; there are no cultural shocks, so you can see multicultural students. One thing from this year is you can see a lot of Indians. If you don't want the Indian community, try to find some public unis; the course is great and multimodal, with not many exams. It's purely practical.
Likes (Safety): The city has a bad name for theft and pickpocketing, but it's a myth; you hear of such incidents, and that's common all over the world. The campus is in a very good place. Next to Dassault and other companies very close to La Défense, there is no threat; the safety is the best.
Dislikes (Part time work): Part-time work in the city basically requires French, without it's hard to find one very few English speaking jobs but hard to land in one. There's no on-campus jobs very limited hardly find any. Average payout for part time is 11 euros, student must try reaching out to cafes and other places by himself, it's better to have a French part time CV ready.

Tips: Learning French would be a great thing as most of my peers speak French and in order to feel included, it would be great to speak the language. Interacting with the professors is a must; this was a cultural shock for me in a way, as in India it was merely the professor who talks and students listen and ask questions if they did not understand a specific content and not question the professors or even disagree with them. Likes (Quality of faculty): Academics, sports, and extracurricular activities all contribute to a complete student life, and Skema's policies support this well. While academics are a strong asset of Skema, the diversity in sports clubs and associations also adds value. I was also a member of the Skema Student Committee.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The faculty is a mix of international professionals many of whom are employed by major global corporations and come as visiting professors. This provides excellent learning opportunities and networking with these mentors is key.

Securing an internship early is challenging, especially for non-European passport holders.
Tips: Be prepared for racism particularly in Paris if you are from an Asian background. Students with an engineering background will find the concepts easier to grasp. I recommend completing French language courses up to A2/B1 level before coming here.
Likes (Safety): The campus is located in a safe and secure area. It can be accessible by public transport. Find housing in a safe area and avoid individuals acting as housing agents. Many newcomers to France have been victims of housing scams.
Dislikes (Internships): The talent and career department isn't as helpful as other similar business schools. Securing an internship early is challenging especially for non-European passport holders. Finding an internship in a non-teaching field can be difficult without speaking French.

Good cultural experience and a diverse environment.
Tips: There is a cultural shift curve, but students will eventually get used to it. I am satisfied with my course and university, but knowledge of the French language makes the stay in the country more enjoyable and helps connect with the local culture and people.

A proper international experience.
Tips: I have been to Europe before so cultural shock was not a thing for me. But if someone is aiming for France, he/she must know French. I didn't get any scholarships but there are several scholarships and government aid available. Overall it was a good experience.
Likes (Safety): France is considered as one of the safest countries in the world. It's usually safe to go out even at night. I had great experience but some people around me have had an experience with pickpocketers. You have to be cautious around the touristic areas.
Dislikes (Part time work): It's difficult for the students who don't speak French. Also, not many part-time jobs are available for students as their schedules might clash with the work hours. The college also provides some internship options though part-time is usually manageable.

Skema makes sure to give you the top quality education and knowledge.
Tips: Students should know that there is obviously a cultural shift, but not that big. Speaking basic French is a must to survive outside the university campus. You can also get an early bird scholarship. Work related to the government is a bit slow, so you need to stay on your toes and keep constantly following up.

The university is great and the faculty is experienced and talented.
Tips: Students should learn French to get jobs and prepare the materials for the class assignment. You can get scholarships if you are doing a two-year Master's programme. There are also early bird discounts that are available when you apply for the universities. The early bird is normally available to everyone.
Likes (Quality of faculty): As all the faculty members are the top executives of the company, their teaching is valuable as it is with experience. Most of the teachers have their own way of teaching, some start directly with the assignment or use cases, and some basically start with theory and give you assignments to do.
Dislikes (Internships): For internships, the students are required to speak French to get selected. Internships are available and there are many opportunities but one needs the minimum level of French, B1 level to get the job. The silver lining is that one can apply to other European countries.

A wonderful stepping stone for a brighter future.
Tips: Students should know that there's a lot of work that you have to do even if you go home to complete your assignments. There is no campus placement as such. The university will just guide you for internships but you're on your own. I'm pretty satisfied with the university.
Likes (Student Life): There are a lot of clubs and communities that are there at the campus. They organise various events that you can participate in, which can be both academic as well as social. Most college days you are going to be busy. If you are free explore the city with your friends.
Dislikes (Internships): Finding internships related to your coursework is very hard in the first year since you're doing a generalised course for the 1st year. I had to find my internship so did my friends so try to find an internship by yourself.

Amazing student life with lots of excitement and experiences.
Tips: The most important thing is language. Students aiming for France for higher studies should learn French. This will help them be it with socializing and getting part time jobs, internships and full time, etc. I availed a scholarship of 3000 and there is one government scholarship that one student from India can attain. Other than that there are college scholarship which depends on the previous marks and all.
Likes (Student Life): The college life was amazing. The campus is in front of the French River. The campus building is small comparatively but being in Paris it was fine. We had different clubs and used to have parties every Thursday. There are international student clubs, clubs for finance and clubs for co-curricular activities.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Well, there are not many Indian food options around the campus and some of them are very expensive so I generally just eat at a fast food chain. I generally prefer cooking myself because it's cost effective and cheaper than eating at the restaurants, that too in Paris which is very expensive for a student.

Good University and a great transportation facilities.
Tips: Students should know that there is huge cultural shift, as French people do a lot of things different than us, one of which is their winner circle is really small. Sometimes you feel more like a colleagues/classmates rather than a friend. I got the excellence scholarship at Skema, I got it just by I had good grades in my Bachelors and a some professional experience. The school is great, the teachers are really helpful and possess great knowledge, you'll get all the tools for your learning, but the only con is if you're a foreigner than its a relatively hard task to land a job because of all the legalities involved.
Likes (Safety): The city is very safe, and they have night buses and people are always ready to help, if they see you in trouble they come to the rescue. The police are always patrolling and are always active. Although there are a few areas where you have to be a little extra cautious.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): As we are not European passport holders, for us to work in Europe we need the company to sponsor us, and that's the cost that very few companies will be willing to take. But a lot of people landed a job it's a matter of time and it tests your patience.

Satisfying international experience and a wonderful university to learn many things.
Tips: You must be at least B1 level in French before you decide to study in France, even though the courses are in English you must know French to get internships and full time offers easily. For international students there are numerous scholarships available (like Eiffel scholarships, etc. ). The deadline for these scholarships ends early, so one must be vigilant to apply for these scholarships before the deadline. I am satisfied with the course and country. The best thing about SKEMA is its international mobility, you can change campuses in different countries very easily.

Skema is a great option only if you are ready to embrace the challenges.
Tips: 1. Cultural shift was definitely there. I suggest students to learn French up to A2 level so that it becomes easy to integrate. 2. You can apply for Skema academic excellence scholarship during your application process. It's 3000 Euro off for 2 year course. 3. I'd say it's satisfactory when it comes to course and university. The country probably not that much, considering the language and cultural barriers.
Likes (Public transportation): You can reach the city centre in 20-30 minutes easily. Options like Train (Line L), Tram, Bus and RER A, and metro 1 are available. Paris has excellent public transportation overall. The connectivity is great and you'd have no problems reaching your place any time of the day. Students get an Imagine R pass for 365 Euros per year with unlimited travel.
Dislikes (Value for money): Considering the ranking and reputation of the college, it is justified to an extent. But when I compare my tuition fees with my friends' colleges it's a bit on the higher side. If you manage to get a scholarship, that'll help a lot and hence you get the value for your money.

Adapting French culture with excellent support from Skema Business school.
Tips: Students should know that there are many cultural differences. The food is different, the French administration is very slow and also there are sometimes ongoing strikes. University helps you with everything from finding accommodation, opening bank accounts, visa issues and everything. I'm happy with my course as it's both practical and theoretical. I got merit based scholarship of 5K Euros. Skema Business School is renowned all over Europe so it's easy to get internship/ jobs.
Likes (Public transportation): Paris has one of the best transport systems in the world. They have transportation 24*7. They have metro, buses, trams and RER which connect suburbs to the city center. The public transport costs 45 per month for the students and adults it will be 78. Also once you get an internship/job you get reimbursement of your metro pass.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are many Indian food options available in Paris. Even for someone like me who is vegetarian, there are many options. I prefer cooking myself at home. If someone is vegetarian there are many options available like Greek food, Mexican and Italian foods and also Lebanese kebabs.

Good College Experience: The hub of learning & growth
Tips: Before joining the college, students should be clear about the institution's culture, academic programs, career opportunities, and resources as well. The University comes in top ranking colleges, and the quality of education & campus life are good here. One thing I'll recommend to any student who is planning to study here is before arriving, you just learn their native language at least A2 level, it'll be a huge plus point for you. About the scholarship, I didn't find it more beneficial for me, than this campus-university. But the education quality is very digitalised in Skema- Sophia Campus. This area comes in the southern part of France. Here are many beautiful things like arts & museum, zoo park and a helpful culture. About transportation, here you'll find buses and trains, which connect from city to city. Bus services exist here in a modern way and are very helpful for international students and other people.

Not value for money but the course and faculty members are good.
Tips: There has been a huge transformation since I joined and got to know more and more diverse group work etc. I was not offered any scholarship nor I was offered any allowance. The satisfaction is neutral I was not impressed or satisfied nor was I upset.
Likes (Quality of faculty): It is easy to approach the faculty members. They made the most effort to make us feel more welcomed and we were very impressed. The methodology was different and good. Highly diverse campus even though there were many Indians too, many other country students were also there.
Dislikes (Value for money): The college is in no way value for money as it's too expensive. The courses might be good but not effective. I was expecting more and more but it was not as I thought it would be. The fees was too high compared to other colleges which offered similar courses for a lesser price with the same options.
