MS in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2025
3.7
Good university for extremely sincere and candid students. Not for the easy going.
Tips: If you're heading to Cornell, you need a serious reality check on the workload and the environment. First off, academic integrity here is no joke—never copy assignments or try to shortcut them with AI, because the department will catch it. Honestly, it’s completely fine if you tank a few assignment marks; it’s a steep learning curve and everyone goes through it. You also need to brace yourself for Ithaca itself. The winters here are no joke, and the second the snow actually starts piling up, you can pretty much forget about relying on campus transport to get you to class on time. Because the campus is built on massive hills, you genuinely need to be physically fit just to hike to class every day—do yourself a massive favor and buy an electric bike to save your legs. Also, eating out gets expensive fast, so get used to preparing your own meals. On the academic side, the course catalog is huge with tons of classes to choose from, but you have to apply early to actually get enrolled before they fill up. Make sure you actively map out your schedule based on your actual career goals, whether you want to break into semiconductors, oil and gas, biochem, pharma or specialized chemical engineering tracks like battery tech, energy engineering, and industrial economics.
Likes (Safety): Ithaca is a safe city; never had to lock doors. You can walk late at night and have a torch, as the street light does not cover all. Cannot walk in winter at late nights; it's chilling. The houses are fine in this area but not great. Some are small, but some are big and spacious. It will be good to live with partners. The 911 emergency is very responsive.
Dislikes (Value for money): The feel is high in comparison to other colleges providing the same value, like Penn State and a few other state universities that are in the top 200 as per the QS university ranking. The tuition fees do cover insurance, but the insurance can be found elsewhere. The food is expensive on campus and so are other purchasable amenities.

M.Eng. Aerospace Engineering - Batch of 2030
4.4
Cornell is the best place to be.
Tips: Transition is smooth if you've experienced university life abroad. If not, the cultural shift can be drastic. That being said, MAE is probably the most accepting and accommodating department, and Cornell is one of the most open universities, with "Any person, any study" as their focus. Ph.D. students in STEM are always funded.
Likes (Student Life): As a Ph.D. student, I find time to pursue various sports in my free time and do meditation along with my research work and courses. Events are organized, but graduate students generally skip these in favor of research work. We have different clubs—I am aware of the MAE Sigma club, which organizes events for graduation students in the ME and AE/TAM fields.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Permanent setting in this country is easy as long as you have the "desired" skills. The last couple of years the overall atmosphere has been uncertain but as long as a student is willing to work hard to make themselves skilled, they won't face major problems. I plan to not stay in this country after my Ph.D. However, I am flexible.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science - Batch of 2027
4.5
Big campus with diverse population.
Tips: Cornell has a really big campus and an even bigger student population. There are more than 15,000 undergraduates, so you can always find your community and close friends. I did not face a big cultural shock as I was able to connect with people really well and got along with them. Before applying to Cornell, definitely research about the major you are going to apply at Cornell. Look at the clubs you are interested in and the professors with whom you would love to research with. For people applying from India, there is TATA scholarship and you are nominated for it after you submit the CSS form. I am really satisfied with my experience so far at Cornell and with my major courses that I have taken. Exploring more of this place gives me new ventures each time. Interacting with professors has helped me strategies my preparation strategy for exams and in general for the class.
Likes (Part time work): It is easy to find an on-campus job at Cornell as they have their own hiring website which makes the process hassle-free. There are a lot of jobs available on campus such as in libraries, cafes, dining halls, TA positions, RA positions, etc. I am not sure about the off-campus jobs as it utilizes CPT. The part-time work is manageable along with the school work as you are only working around 6-10 hours/week. The average payout for the job is 15-18/hr depending on where you are working.
Dislikes (Student Life): An average day of mine includes going to classes, helping students in classes as a teaching student and then studying at a library, preferably Olin or Uris Library. There were a lot of events during the orientation week, and I found most of my friends during that period. I also attended a few Indian events like Garba night, Diwali night where I can find my own community and have fun with my friends. There are numerous opportunities on campus to get involved with student clubs. Like, I am currently in the Blockchain club which deals with blockchain, ethereum, crypto-related things where we find new information and learn with peers.

De-stereotyping Cornell and Navigating the Job Hunt
Tips: The job application process in the US is quite cumbersome. The culture is vastly different compared to Asian countries. There are several research opportunities and professors are open to taking in students even after their first semester. Prepare to work on an assignment for at least 2 full weeks because there might be errors that are commonly occurring for the whole class.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty are very passionate about their field of teaching. They are mostly affiliated to some or the other company which enables them to have various research opportunities for students. Most professors are willing to spend time outside of class to clarify doubts.
Dislikes (Student Life): The students get really busy and there is not enough time to spend on other activities. Finding your community and groups that align with your interests is important in order to continue pursuing your interests. There are a lot of cultural events and hackathons that take place which connect you with industry professionals.

The professors are helpful and guide you through.
Tips: To transfer from undergraduate to graduate school is a significant shift as in graduate school you need to do everything on your own but the professors here guide you throughout the process. It is very rare to get a scholarship for master's unless you do a Ph.D. degree.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus is well connected as we have the city buses called TCAT that run through the campus and connect different parts of the city to different parts of campus. The public transport is free for the first year using the Cornell card and after that, we need to pay an annual fee of 200 dollars.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are very few Indian restaurants around (just three). We have more fast food joints with few vegetarian options. We prefer cooking at home. There are some Indian grocery stores nearby so it is easier to get groceries and make the food at home if you are a vegetarian.

Amazing university for anyone who wants to do computer science or engineering in general.
Tips: The curriculum is very rigorous and the assignments are time consuming. The roads on campus are very steep as it is situated on top of a hill. There is surely a cultural shift as there are not a lot of Indian students here. Overall I am satisfied with the university and my course.
Likes (Student Life): I have classes and then spend the rest of my day doing problem sets. The campus is really beautiful. There are several events on campus like cultural, music, career, sports etc. Several companies visit the campus on a regular basis. There are various sports that are played on campus like football, lacrosse etc.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are 2 Indian restaurants in Collegetown. Additionally there is an Indian store in Collegetown as well. I prefer a mix of both cooking and eating out. For cooking at home you can order from Walmart+, and you can get groceries and various other hour items delivered to your doorstep.

Cornell has a great engineering program and all the top companies come to recruit students.
Tips: I lived abroad before moving to this college so I had a bit of an easier transition. Cornell is a great university with good career options in post-graduation. I was quite satisfied with the degree. There is a big Indian population at Cornell. The professors are dedicated to helping the students achieve their career goals.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): The campus is beautiful and there are lots of activities to do in Ithaca. I enjoyed hiking around Ithaca, slope day and going to the restaurants in the area. There is an Indian Students Club as well. There are lots of planes to go for exercise as well and different sports such as squash, tennis, soccer etc. I would highly recommend Cornell.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is very accessible and the classes have more projects than other universities. This leads to a more hands-on experience. Cornell is very diverse with teachers from countries all over the world. It is a world-class Ivy League institution.

BSc Hons in Economics and Finance - Batch of 2025

Great university to find your potential.
Tips: I have found the transition to university life much easier as I live with my parents. I was not eligible for any scholarships, but I am pretty satisfied with the course as most lecturers are always there to guide you. Also, some lecturers might not be good, but you have the academic mentors to clarify any academic doubts. The campus is close to central London and it is very well connected. You have multiple tube lines that are nearby, and you can also use the buses. It is pretty affordable, but it depends upon where you live as prices might differ based on zones, but you can avail discounts by using a student oyster card.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): It is harder for those on student visas to find a job, as companies are less willing to sponsor work visas because it is costly to do so. I am not sure about the job roles and salaries offered as I haven't graduated from university yet, but I will be graduating in 2025.

London Metropolitan University is an outstanding institute with knowledge deliverable.
Tips: It was not much difficult to adapt to the culture but there are some situations to accept. Especially culture, language, accent, and climate change which we have not experienced in our own country. Moreover, expense management, time management, part-time work, education and life balance gave me new experiences.
Likes (Student Life): In here, student life is much more convenient due to the diversity of students. Always there are more new things to learn and to be impressed with in the UK. As an international student, I reckon we should have those experiences within our university and outside of the university.
Dislikes (Part time work): It is not easy to search part time job in UK. As I experienced, it takes time to catch up with the job and adapt to it. Mainly with time management. Also, it is difficult to observe some options within relevant fields and mostly there are more barriers to having a job in the desired sector.

Exquisite, friendly and multi-cultural university.
Tips: Before commencement, all the students are required to attend a welcome. These are compulsory and will help you with campus and faculty introduction. Would also suggest incoming students be actively involved with student societies and events which help break barriers and meet and connect with new people.
Likes (Student Life): London Met's campus are located in the heart of the city and it's the world's most diverse and enigmatic city. Also once you are admitted you become a part of the student union which enriches your life here. Living here as a student is an incredible experience with so many fantastic attractions like world-renowned museums, galleries and libraries.
Dislikes (Value for money): It offers an international study experience study at the heart of London. Also, the acceptance rate is close to 80% so the chances of getting into the college are high. The feels is somewhere close to 12K pounds but with the help of financial aid and scholarships students can get financial help.
