BEng in Electrical Engineering PLuS - Batch of 2023
3.8
Engineering college with great facilities and faculty
Tips: German is a must for Bachelors in my college There is no campus selection so you have to look for jobs FH Aachen focuses on practical more than theory, so there are a lot of labs in the course The entire bachelor's course is taught in German If you are coming from India u need to do a Studienkolleg before you start.
Likes (Value for money): The Tuition fee is 350 euros per semester, which is minimal and very affordable. I think the tuition fee is very justified and it's cheaper than most colleges in the world. 350 euros per semester also includes a travel ticket that you can use to travel all over Germany on regional trains.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Since there is no campus selection, the university does not care if you get a job or not. They conduct regular job fairs, but the job market is pretty bad in Germany for entry-level jobs. You can always look for a part-time job at the university or outside in your field or outside your field.

Master of Science in Information Systems - Batch of 2027

Overall pretty satisfied
Tips: Coming to Aachen from abroad is definitely a cultural adjustment, but the stereotype that Germans are cold or rude really isn't true in my experience. Most people here—especially fellow students—are helpful and approachable if you just ask. Aachen is a massive student city, so locals are super used to international students and don't make you feel out of place.
On the academic side, I've been really happy with how FH Aachen operates. Unlike traditional research universities, the professors here come straight from industry, so lectures are very practical and directly tied to real-world engineering or business problems. Classroom sizes are relatively small compared to big uni lecture halls which makes it much easier to actually talk to your professors, ask questions and get feedback on your work without feeling like just a number.

BEng in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2025
3.8
For me, it was a very mediocre experience from the start to finish.
Tips: If you're planning on headed to Germany for your Bachelors or Masters, honestly, try to hit that C1 level in German before you even get here. It makes life so much easier. Also, don't just wing it—do some proper digging into where you’re going to live, what your specific research field looks like, and just the general 'vibe' and etiquette of the area. It really helps to know the local unwritten rules before you land.
Likes (Indian Food): Have had plenty of options to find Indian food as well as Indian groceries. Although it differs from city to city about the pricing and quality, the thumb rule is where there is just one Indian shop, the owner would charge more. But it's better to cook for oneself than to go out. One more thing everyone should remember is that there is no such rule of MSP as we have in India.
Dislikes (Safety): Some bad experiences with local people being unwelcoming towards non-native people regardless of the situation other people are in. Plus, the local foreign office is outrageously competent, where even expats with exceptional skills are treated harshly.

Perfect mix between theoretical and practical learning with interesting subjects to offer.
Tips: The learning process and exams are quite different from India. They focus more on core knowledge development rather than simply teaching the theory. Many subjects include relevant Industry examples and the faculty themselves have decades of experience.
Likes (Value for money): There are no tuition fees as this is a public university. However we have to pay 300-400 euros per semester as semester contribution, which also includes Deutschlandticket and among other small contributions and thus covers all your travelling costs in the entire Germany.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are no campus placements in Germany. Students have to search for a job themselves. So it completely depends on the student and their commitment. In my experience, the way you prepare yourself after coming here defines your path forward. Applying to jobs is not enough, you need to share your profile with your network, including the faculty and supervisors and attend seminars, conferences, etc. All this will give you a better chance in future.

Master of Science in Intelligent Manufacturing - Batch of 2027

3.4
This is a good college overall. It has supportive teachers and a friendly campus environment.
Tips: However, before studying in this educational establishment, it must be noted that such change is quite possible for the person who actively attends classes at this university. Indeed, there is something related to culture shock at this university; nevertheless, because of the friendly people and a good orientation system, I adapted to this place very quickly. Speaking about financial assistance, it should be mentioned that I could receive the university’s merit-based scholarship. It consisted of an academic evaluation and writing a personal statement, which was quite useful for me, because I got money to cover my expenses.

Settling In, Studying, and Staying Safe in Germany.
Tips: The move from India to Germany took some adjusting; the pace of life here is slower and more structured, punctuality and rules matter a lot here, and small talk and socialising are more reserved initially. Bureaucracy was probably the steepest learning curve. I didn't avail any scholarship; rather, I funded my whole study here, but you can get a lot of available scholarships, which are awarded by the German government depending on the academic journey or extra solicited work around. Overall satisfied. TU Clausthal's IM course is more for computer Science students, but it also fits perfectly for students from other fields. The projects and studies do require genuine effort here, as I believe no one wants to just pass and move forward, rather, one must study more in order to get the intricate meaning behind it, including the subjects that complete the degree in that sense, so just studying isn't enough.
Likes (Safety): Well-lit streets and pathways, especially around the student wohnheim, make it feel unsafe to walk out. Emergency well connected to the dorms, and monitoring takes place as well. 1. Well-lit streets and pathways. 2. Emergency call points. 3. Well-connected transportation. 4. Campus wohnheim doesn't allow hostile beings in.
Dislikes (Indian Food): 1. Even though there are a few Indian restaurants and food stores close by, the choice available is limited when compared with that in my native country because some dishes are simply absent, others are just simpler versions, and the prices are comparatively higher than those for local cuisine. The restaurants are: 1. German / Harz specialities, typical of Gasthaus, seasonal food and moderate pricing. 2. Italian – few Italian restaurants other than Pizza and Schnitzel. 10- 15 euros. 3. Bakers – cheap meals for students. 3- 7 euros. I generally cook for myself because it is more economical, and I occasionally dine out.

Academic Excellence, Needs a bit efforts
Tips: The language in which the course is going to be taught. Whether it will be in German or English, and at which level. What are the majors and minor they are offering? Do you offer any scholarships or not? For study purposes, I'm quite satisfied; it's just a bit of a small city.
Likes (Quality of faculty): You can ask anything you didn't understand to your faculty, in particular, in my experience, whatever doubts I have, I normally solve with my faculty members. And they are highly intelligent; they can even help you with any research you are doing in the respective field you are in.
Dislikes (Internships): The city is a bit smaller, so we have to migrate to a bigger city near it. To find more options for internships, basically for me IT. If you find work from home, then it would be better since you won't have to migrate and go to other places.

Historically rich university with focus on all departments.
Tips: The only thing I would like you to know is that do not rush to start your Master's immediately after completing your Bachelor's. Gain some industrial experience and learn German. This would help you a lot after coming here, both professionally and in your daily life.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The teaching faculty is pretty diverse. In terms of accessibility to faculty, they are available to help you at each and every stage. You just have to email them for an appointment. The lectures and exercises are conducted every week, which help you to gain insights.
Dislikes (Internships): Guidance is full-fledged. Also, there are internships available that are relevant to the field of study. But the German language requirement is the big stumbling block. If you have good German proficiency and experience in the field of work, you are all set.

Good quality of study with great opportunities.
Tips: Learning the German language is the main priority, and a very good grip on English for study is the main thing. Another thing is to learn cooking and the habit of cleaning one's own things. It's very important to learn everything and to be prepared for everything.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Student life is good while staying in dorms and staying with students from different countries, playing with them, and studying with them. Job opportunities are also good with outstanding payments as part-time student jobs. Good experience as a student here and great opportunities.
Dislikes (Value for money): The faculty is very good with extra knowledge and all, and also with great research options and further Ph.D. opportunities. All the faculty are very good with nature and very helpful and supportive of students. Great respect we are getting being a student.

Best place for self-study and to build a strong academic portfolio.
Tips: The courses and people here are very good and friendly. Projects and reports can be turned into highly valuable research papers and theses. It's a great place if you want to focus on self-study. However, if you want to extend your course and do part-time jobs, taking admission here and living in nearby cities is the best option.
Likes (Safety): This place is safe compared to others. I haven't heard of any theft incidents, except for misplaced parcels. Emergency services, including fire and police, arrive within 5 minutes.
Dislikes (Part time work): The location is on a hillside, and the nearest city for part-time jobs is at least a 40-90 minute commute away. There are also very few part-time job opportunities in the Clausthal area, aside from university positions or assistance roles. Hannover or Braunschweig are more preferable options for students.

Practical learning is incorporated into every subject, and the program is research-focused.
Tips: The travel time is long, and there are limited opportunities nearby. The course design is well-equipped, and the university is well-equipped. Classes are large, and some teachers often delay lectures. Exams are very challenging. Practical learning is incorporated into every subject, and the program is research-focused.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The course structure is good and the teaching is effective. The practical approach to each subject is commendable and exams are well scheduled. While HiWi jobs are available, they are not consistently offered. However, some professors don't teach effectively, and courses are often delayed.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer cooking at home. The food quality outside isn't great and prices are high. There are mostly pizzerias and small cafes and doner is widely available but food isn't cheap. Indian restaurants are also expensive. Decent food costs around 10 euros.

The college provides excellent resources for studying.
Tips: Students should explore all available opportunities and thoroughly assess if the chosen course aligns with their goals. They should also carefully examine the financial implications of pursuing the program as surviving without financial stability is challenging even after admission.
Likes (Safety): The town I lived in had a small population. The police were very cooperative. Safety is a major concern for international students and I experienced no discrimination. Everyone was friendly.
Dislikes (Student Life): It was a good experience. I enjoyed my college days. Everyone was completely friendly and the faculty was really good. The college provides excellent resources for studying which gives students the best possible learning experience.

Professor are really helpful and many universities here are tuition-free.
Tips: Germany is the best option for students, especially those who have some experience in their field of interest, because Germany needs skilled workers and more experienced people. For students who want to come here, they must learn at least the German B1 level. Many universities here are tuition-free. There, you just have to pay a nominal fee for the tuition itself, and you can also easily find a part-time job there, where you can earn money and cover your expenses. Additionally, Germany requires compulsory health insurance, so you don't have to worry about your health. Generally, all international students prefer cooking for themselves because eating outside is more expensive. But of course, you can eat outside 2 or 3 times a month. And for vegetarians, there are fewer options. But for non-vegetarians, there are certainly more options.
