Life of a Harvard student in the US.
Tips: Harvard's rigour demands self-discipline and expects intense course work but unparalleled resources to navigate the same, be it world-class libraries, faculty, grants, alumni network, peer group, etc. The culture thrives on collaboration, and you will meet some of the most brilliant minds in the world, which is highly inspirational. I availed a generous scholarship from Harvard, which covered 80% of my tuition and made this dream possible for me. Overall, this was an incredible learning experience, and I would highly recommend it.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Harvard's faculty brings in unparalleled expertise, accessibility and mentorship. Professors blend cutting edge research with practical and interactive teaching, ranging from case studies to internships to discussions. The departments also bring in global faculty which enriches classroom discussions and projects.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): While the US offers strong career opportunities and great mentorship, currently, the country is going through several changes in its immigration rules and that could lead to some uncertainty with settlement options. My chances of settlement rely heavily on an employers sponsoring my H1-b visa and that is always uncertain as its a lottery process so the volatility makes it hard to be certain.

Academic and research centric university.
Tips: The university is very rigorous in terms of academics so be prepared for that. Apart from that, sports and other clubs are also very active but mainly education and research are their forte. If you want to explore your interests in the research field, this is the best option for you.
Likes (Safety): The university spends a good amount of money on students' safety despite the city being very unsafe. They have their own police force, they have deployed security at several locations and also they have their own transport shuttle which provides point-to-point service from evening till late night.
Dislikes (Internships): Getting an internship is comparatively more difficult than getting a research assistantship at the university. They don't have many industrial connections in other departments than Biotech, Bioinformatics, etc. People in these fields may get some departmental help, but others may have to look on their own for jobs and internships.

A University of Paradise where faculties are top class.
Tips: Before joining to the University, I would ask all the prospective students to make sure they have all the original documents and also at least 5-10 copies of each. You never know when it will be required. While arriving make sure to have some cash in hand as it is really important for traveling and as we don't know the location.
Likes (Indian Food): The Johns Hopkins University campus is situated at various locations in the US and Europe. My campus is really great and beautiful. It is very diverse and is filled by students across the globe. Coming from India, here the campus culture is really great, it is very diverse. We are able to interact with different national students and get to know about their culture, tradition and also their language.
Dislikes (Student Life): At The Johns Hopkins University, the faculties are of top class. They all are highly qualified and are well established research scholars. Each of the faculty has a laboratory headed by them in which the faculties are encouraged to pursue their research.
The laboratory facilities here at The Johns Hopkins University is of top class. The classrooms are very well diversified. Under the guidance of such faculties, the students who really have a passion for research are found and picked up to pursue their ideas. The faculties are student-friendly and so will clear the student's doubts anytime and anywhere.

Top class college but requires rigorous work
Tips: The college is not easygoing; it is not liberal, and you need to score marks. The professors are skilled and will guide you to clear the advanced concept, but the main thing is the work pressure is high, and the student has to do everything on his own.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The professors in my department actually care about what happens to you after you graduate. A bunch of them have even won the JHU Career Impact Award for this exact reason. They don't just lecture and run away. They'll sit down with you on their own time, help you fix your messy resume, and run mock interviews. They'll even introduce you to their own industry contacts. It feels like having actual mentors who want you to land a job, not just teachers trying to finish a syllabus.
Dislikes (Internships): Let's be real: Hopkins is completely obsessed with research. The entire campus is basically built to funnel you into a lab, chase grant money, or prep you for a PhD. If you're just looking for a research assistantship on campus, you can practically walk into any lab at Homewood and get a spot immediately. It’s ridiculously easy.
But if you’re a MechEng major who actually wants to work in the industry rather than a lab, you're going to find yourself in a tough spot. The department is so deep in the academic bubble that they honestly don't prioritize corporate networking. While other big engineering schools have massive career fairs crawling with recruiters from automotive, aerospace, or tech companies, JHU feels like they just don't care about building those industry pipelines. You’re basically on your own when it comes to landing a corporate gig, since JHU is way too busy chasing academic grants to bother setting up pipelines with actual companies.
