Life at NUIG & Ireland, Galway
Tips: Keep your legal documents handy, do not take a lot of clothes from India just carry lots of masala and indian food (Lodoo, quick meal). Research everything about transport and euro conversion. Smoking is Expensive (18 $ a packet). Take all your loans in Account, sometimes it takes a month to transfer INR to Euro.
Likes (Safety): It's safe in Ireland. People don't bother you until they are drunk or have bad intentions. Also, Garda is helpful here. If you have indulged in anything on the road. Quickly report that to the Garda, they will help you. Also, you SEE a lot of scams in Europe, like 45 $/H deals. Stay away from them. QUICK MONEY IS A SCAM IN EUROPE!
Dislikes (Internships): You are on your own when it comes to searching for a job. Campus can only review your resume and ask you to apply for some mostly irrelevant jobs. Which can chatGPT or Claude can do in 10 min. After graduation, you are on your own with the job hunt. You need to focus on building connections to take a job.

Tips: The educational system is entirely different from that of India. People are usually persuaded to study on their own. It's more like a fast-paced environment where people have all the resources to prep. Life in Ireland is good with exposure to a different culture and lifestyle. I didn’t have any scholarship except for the allowance scholarship of 4k euros, which everyone would get. I couldn’t say I’m completely satisfied with my university since there are better universities here like UCD, DCU, and Trinity, which offer more quality education and more facilities.

A career focused college with great opportunities
Tips: Before joining the college, students should understand that efforts matter and should manage their time between study and work. NCI expects the student to complete assignments independently and on time and to participate actively in the projects. At NCI, you really have to stay on top of your continuous assessments and actually show up to lectures. Professors expect you to carry your own weight in group projects, and keeping your attendance up is something they take pretty seriously.
Likes (Value for money): The study at this college is more engaged between students and faculty. There are different kinds of projects given by faculty where students can gain hands-on experience and enhance their skills. Students also can make use of careers services on campus so that students can have enhanced CV writing skills, and also it will be useful for interview preparation. The lecturers in the college are more approachable and always help the students with any subject matters and projects.
Dislikes (Part time work): The part-time work in Ireland is a bit challenging compared to other countries. Yes, we will be having plenty of opportunities for part-time work on campus. And there will be strong competition from many students, locals included, with international students globally. And the employers will look for previous experience for the work and also flexibility for the work regarding timings and days of work.

A Good Learning Experience with international Exposure
Tips: Before coming to NCI, the single most critical thing to sort out is your accommodation—do not underestimate how brutal the Dublin housing market is right now. You need to start searching months ahead on portals like Daft.ie or student accommodation sites, and budget carefully for high rent alongside daily living expenses.
On campus, NCI's IFSC location is a huge advantage for networking with surrounding tech and financial firms, but you have to be clear on your course structure and career goals early to make the most of it. One of the best parts about NCI is how international the campus is; moving to a new country feels way less intimidating because you’re surrounded by students from all over the world who are in the exact same boat, making it really easy to settle in and build a community.

It’s 7 out of 10 universities
Tips: Tbh, everything looks great to me, like my course was something that I was looking for, and also I got a 4000 euro scholarship for my MSc, which helped a lot. Culturally, yeah, it takes a little time to adapt, but it's nothing out of this world. If you are from India, you are already comfortable with a different bunch of people, as we have diversity in our country as well, so yeah, it will take a little time, but you will be good.
Likes (Student Life): You will meet some good bunch of people across the globe, and, of course, student life is good. Like, there’s a student union where you can get into clubs and societies if you’re interested in anything specific. Like, I was part of a dance society, which was great, and also there are always cultural events going on, also a Diwali event if that matters.
Dislikes (Internships): There is no such thing as college placement or university placement; if you get one, you have to get one on your own, so try to hunt for a job on your own, and universities usually have classes for careers, and they will give you tools to apply for jobs, which will help, but doing your own research will help a lot.

Most intensive course and hard to manage
Tips: You must know the basics of the course that you are taking because it's a 1-year course and it was so intense that you feel a bit faster. The lectures will go faster as per their timeline, and they will help you when you are on labs and the assignments are very tough.
Likes (Internships): Because college itself doesn't offer any internships, but you need to find them yourself, and the market is so hard here to crack any job offer because there are many people who are competing with you even for a small job; there is a lot of competition. If you want to survive, you need to be smart.
Dislikes (Quality of faculty): The faculty are good, but compared to India, the teaching style is quite different. You feel a lot of difference, and the classes are so intense because it's a one-year course where you feel so overwhelmed and so stressed because you need to manage both studies and part-time work at the same time.

Tips: Money-wise, NCI has a really solid international scholarship that knocks about €4,000 to €5,000 straight off your tuition fees. The best part is that they don’t set the entry requirements ridiculously high or make you jump through impossible hoops to get it. The grade threshold is kept incredibly fair, so a massive chunk of us actually end up getting it, which takes a huge financial weight off your shoulders when you're moving to Dublin.
Likes (Public transportation): There's a Luas stop right in front of the college. And also a bus stop at a mere 50-100 meter walkable distance. The city center (Aspire) is just a 10-minute walk from the college. The college lies right at the heart of Dublin. Getting around the city from campus is super easy because there are tons of cycling options right outside the college. You can easily grab one of the city's DublinBikes rentals close by, and since the IFSC area is pretty flat and compact, riding a bike is usually the quickest way to get around anyway.
Dislikes (Part time work): On-campus part-time jobs are available. Keeping up with the right connections will help you land the part-time job. The part-time role will be a lab assistant tutor. So it'll be really helpful if you can squeeze the best out of it. The average payout for part-time is 14 euros now. And the legal limit during studies is 20 hours.

I would say this college is good and there are great faculties with high experience
Tips: Before you step foot into NCI, do yourself a massive favor and get a solid head start on the basics of whatever course you’ve picked—you really don't want to show up completely blank on day one. Also, a major piece of advice: look for your own accommodation outside of the college-run housing. The student residence options are honestly ridiculously expensive and will drain your budget in no time, though obviously, your financial situation and what you're comfortable with is entirely up to you. Just start hunting for a place in Dublin early, because the market is tough, and avoiding those steep campus rent prices makes a massive difference.
Likes (Student Life): I would like to say that there are a lot of co-curricular activities which help you connect with everyone.
I felt even the college is main in the city centre.
There is no problem with the commutation as well you have a tram stop [Luas] in front of the college
Dislikes (Internships): Actually, I didn't find much that was helpful regarding the internship. There were fewer opportunities, I felt. But if you are in a good book with any of the lecturers, they might help you land a job in college itself as an assistant to the particular professor.

Good for Masters in IT Courses because you will complete masters in one year.
Tips: You won't feel major cultural shift once you came here because students will share accommodation with indians and in part-time jobs as well there will be one or two indians doing part-time job there. Scholarships will completely depends on the college if they like student profile they will offer scholarships, there are some government bodies in india those will also offer scholarships or less interest on the education loan, coming to my college experience it is good all lectures are welcoming and ready to help and my course is bit tough because we have pen and paper exams only for my course rest all courses have assignments and projects. If you have good skills and experience students can get good opportunities and weather is not that good here.
Likes (Indian Food): In Ireland, you've got maybe five or six main types of Indian spots that cover the usual veg and non-veg stuff. To be honest it’s a bit of a hit or miss situation as you might find one place with a great curry but their other dishes are just okay. No single spot really nails the whole menu. Thankfully there’s actually plenty of Indian grocery stores around here these days, so you can pretty much find all the right spices and stuff to just cook everything yourself at home anyway.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Job searching is hard here after a master's. If a candidate has 5-plus years of experience, then chances of getting a job are somewhat good; otherwise, it's tough to get a job. If a candidate doesn't have any prior experience, it's better not to choose Ireland. Most of the companies are not ready to sponsor. If a candidate got a good package, they can do self-sponsorship only if the company is willing to give a proof-of-work letter.

Gateway to come and stay in ireland
Tips: There will be little nervousness after coming here. Later it will be as usual, like in India, after a few months; for me, I felt nothing bad till now. There will be some default scholarships for every student based on the marks in earlier courses. It's not the best I can say, but overall it's okay to study here and stay in Ireland.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation is the best in Dublin City. There are many transportation options to reach anywhere in Ireland from Dublin. There are trains, buses, Luas cycles, etc. Public transportation can be many ways, covering many areas in Dublin's city center to multiple parts.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships are less in number and have a huge competition. It's very better to apply before start of going college as it's takes almost 8-10 months of application process, so when already graduated, they no longer consider for internships. Student must be in college while joining internships.

A Supportive, Diverse, and Career-Focused Learning Experience.
Tips: Look, if you’re actually thinking of coming over, just know it’s a really welcoming spot—especially if you're moving from abroad like I did. My first few weeks were honestly way smoother than I'd expected. There was definitely a bit of a culture shock at first, mostly just getting used to how much they expect you to do on your own and even just the way people talk, but it wasn't nearly as scary as I’d feared. The staff are so helpful and everyone is really chill, so I ended up settling in way faster than I thought I would.
I checked out the scholarship stuff when I was applying and the uni is actually pretty open about how it all works. Obviously, not everyone gets one, but as long as you keep an eye on the dates, it’s easy enough to figure out. I'm just really glad I made the move. The course feels like it’ll actually be useful for a real job, and Ireland itself is great—it feels safe and the vibe is just super inclusive. If you're ready to just dive in, you’ll have a blast.

Tips: The workload in NCI can be sometimes demanding. Time management is very important especially if you want to work part-time with your studies. The transition was smooth overall to Dublin. You need to get adjusted to the weather and cost of living in Dublin.
Likes (Student Life): Student life at NCI is very active and friendly. They host several events. NCI organizes a variety of events like cultural festivals, career fairs, tech talks and student gatherings. There are several clubs as gaming clubs cultural groups, tech societies which you will be introduced to on your induction day.
Dislikes (Safety): The campus itself feels safe, but Dublin can be unpredictable sometimes, especially late in the evening. On campus, we had student support services that guide you on safety in the city. Some parts of the city are not suggested to travel alone. Stay away from those places and you will be granted.

Tips: Before joining this university, you must know that it's not similar to the typical study system we have been used to in India; here, equal weightage has been given to group work and presentations. If you have some time left before coming to Ireland, work on your overall communication delivery skills, like how to give an elevator pitch; it would help a lot. Utilize this journey to the fullest
Tips: Explore the clubs and participate. Talk to the professors and start applying for jobs as early as possible. Everyone in my class received a scholarship of 2000 euros. This was a general scholarship available when enrolling at the university. The country is costly. Rooms are difficult to get for rent. There is no direct flight from India to Ireland.
Likes (Safety): Irish people and campus staff are helpful and friendly. Security personnel are patrolling the grounds regularly around the campus. There are CCTVs installed as well. The city is good compared to Dublin, but small as well. There are a lot of nature walking tracks on campus and around the city. The campus is green and quite big.
Dislikes (Internships): The job market is very competitive worldwide, including here in Ireland, in the field of Computers. It's a small country that cannot accommodate such a large influx of talented students at once! The market seems saturated here in Ireland. Also, HR seems very conscious about hiring international students because of future sponsorship.

My life in a home away from home
Tips: There is a bit of a cultural shift, but that is the case when you are going abroad to study; other than that, it is a good experience. I did not avail myself of any scholarships, but it was still easy to get going with my studies. In all regards, I am very satisfied with my experience at UL.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty gets a high rating because the professors at UL are genuinely approachable and down-to-earth. You can drop into their office hours or drop them an email without feeling like a burden. On top of that, they bring in guest lecturers who actually work in the industry, which gives you real-world context instead of just textbook theory. Having supportive tutors and industry-active speakers makes a huge difference in how much you actually take away from the course.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The city is filled with all kinds of delicacies. Fun, student friendly and sport oriented university.
Tips: It’s a big campus; be ready to walk. The campus is beautiful, though, and has a lot of activities to do on campus. Make sure to join a lot of clubs and societies. The university staff is supportive and friendly; staying on campus is recommended. There are a lot of food places on campus as well.
Likes (Value for money): Giving UL top marks for value for money comes down to how much further your euro stretches here compared to Dublin. While housing across Ireland is competitive, rent in Limerick—especially around Castletroy, Plassey, or Milford—is significantly more reasonable than Dublin's crazy prices. You aren't burning through your entire monthly budget just to keep a roof over your head, which leaves actual breathing room for groceries and social life.
Getting around is super straightforward too. You don't need a car because public transport connects the campus right to the city center. Bus routes like the 304 and 304A pick up directly from the Stables bus stop on campus, and tapping with a TFI Student Leap Card drops the fare down to less than a euro per ride. Between lower living costs and cheap, frequent transit into town, living in Limerick makes managing a student budget way less stressful.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There is a tech park in Shannon with loads of companies sponsoring visas but it is difficult to get interviews. Keep trying, and you will definitely get something. Try to get as much as possible from clubs and societies, as it will be counted towards your CV.

Tips: Yes, definitely, but I feel adapting to culture is really easy as well. Also, in terms of scholarships, I was awarded a scholarship based on my bachelor's marks and performance. Overall, I am very satisfied with the university, course, and country.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Approaching faculty in my department is easy and very good; they respond to the queries very fast, and also they are very friendly as well. In terms of diversity, the faculty here are pretty good; there are people from different nationalities, which makes it better for upcoming students.
Dislikes (Internships): The guidance is good but not up to the mark, and according to internships for bachelor's students, it's pretty good, and the opportunities are really good as well because you will get a chance to work with Big Four companies and get good exposure as well.

Tips: Only serious students who want to be involved in the sports industry should consider joining this course, as the course duration is very demanding and can take some time to get used to. The classes are very dynamic and open, focusing more on interactions and new ideas, slightly different from Asia.
I was really happy with my time in Ireland, specifically in Limerick. If I get a chance to go back to Ireland, I would definitely go back.

Tips: Honestly, the teaching quality at the University of Limerick is pretty average—nothing mind-blowing, just your standard lectures. And while UL is famous for its undergraduate Co-Op placements, don't expect the university to just hand you a full-time graduate job on a silver platter when you finish. The reality is that once you're approaching graduation, you're pretty much on your own to secure a permanent role.
Navigating the job market in Ireland right now takes a massive amount of personal hustle. If you want to actually land a decent corporate role, you have to spend your own time relentlessly networking on LinkedIn, hitting up the campus career fairs, and blasting out independent applications. Anyone planning to come to UL needs to be a self-starter from day one, because building a real career here relies entirely on your own initiative.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty here are very good & helpful They are knowledgeable, approachable, and supportive throughout the course. They are willing to help students with academic queries and assignments. The teaching methodologies include practical case studies and group projects.
Dislikes (Internships): University doesn't provide any internships. You are on your own there is limited or no source for finding internships or jobs. Students are largely expected to search and apply independent. There should be adequate support for the students finding internships.

Not worth the high out of state tuition
Tips: There will be many cultural changes that you’ll observe initially, and you'll get adapted to them gradually as well. The university does give out scholarships based on your marks, but they’re also first-come, first-served. So honestly, you need to apply as early as possible before the funding runs out. I’m satisfied with the country and course, but as an international student, I would still say it’s expensive and not worth it for a job market without prior experience of at least 2 years minimum.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty are always available, and the way they teach is amazing; they are very diverse in nationalities and provide good guidance across the course period. It’s hands-on with labs and physical and real-world demonstrations, with wide range of facilities available, such as a library.
Dislikes (Internships): For a master's degree, you have to look out for opportunities around in your field; however, the university conducts career fairs and networking events, also based on location, as a nearby tech park would have ample opportunities available around in the city. Being a master's student, you always have to proactively be looking for opportunities since the beginning of the course.

There is no placement support for MSc in Business Analytics.
Tips: There was a huge cultural shift here. Initially I was finding it difficult here to get accommodated but if you get the right people around you feel at home. I did not avail any scholarship but there are people who were offered scholarships it was based on their previous academics.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport is available with a frequency of 10 minutes from morning to evening to the city centre. Also to other cities from my city with a frequency of 1 hour. Public transport for students is at a discounted price here when compared to the normal prices.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There is no placement support for the course I have done and most of the courses are the same, although you get a Masters degree in a year it is very difficult to get a job in your domain. There are career fair taken place on the campus, but they would be mostly for the undergraduate students.

Tips: As an international student the transition was smooth. UL has a welcoming multicultural environment and supportive International Office. Ireland's friendly culture made settling pretty easy. I didn't avail any scholarships but options like the Global Excellence Scholarship are available for eligible students though competition is fierce. I'm very satisfied with my course, the campus facilities and living in Ireland in general.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus is well connected to Limerick City via bus Eireann routes which is a reliable bus company here with buses running frequently throughout the day. A student Leap card makes it affordable at around 0.65 cent per trip. Bus is the main mode of transportation along with taxi. Getting around is easy and budget-friendly by bus for students.
Dislikes (Part time work): On-campus jobs like teaching assistants and ambassador roles exist but are limited and competitive. Off- campus, there's plenty of retail, hospitality roles in Castleroy, Limerick, the place where I live currently. I have worked part time at JD Sports Ireland. Most employers are flexible and pay is around 14.20 euros. Balancing work with academics is manageable if you plan around exam periods and heavy coursework weeks.

Tips: UL is student-centric and is one of the biggest campuses in Ireland. There are a lot of opportunities to meet people from different courses, and it makes your time there valuable and wisely spent. Everyone on campus is welcoming and I haven't faced any racism or discrimination during my stay there. I didn't avail any scholarship.
Likes (Quality of faculty): All the faculty are Ph.D. holders and have very deep knowledge in their subjects. They are very approachable and provide suggestion to our career path. Each faculty has its own methods of teaching, and most of the courses are a mix of theory and lab sessions.
Dislikes (Part time work): Getting an on-campus part-time job as a lab assistant is very difficult, and off-campus opportunities as a student is also very limited. Part-time pay is the basic salary decided by the government. Students are allowed to work max 20 hours during the student term.

Tips: College is very good. No stress, it's just about full time jobs after college. If someone has more than 3-4 years of experience, this country is very good. But if you are a graduate (fresher), then please think twice before coming here.
Likes (Student Life): I feel everything is good as students, we will get part time jobs easily and the accommodation part is sorted. And the college culture and staff are supportive. We never need to worry about assignments because you will easily do that with little effort.
Dislikes (Internships): I have observed in the last 3 years that I have not seen students who have pursued Masters and got internship opportunities. So for graduates student who don't have industry experience, the internship and job opportunities are very limited. So internship wise its not the best country itself.

On campus part-time jobs are very limited.
Tips: I want the Indian students to know that be prepared to see a lot of Indian students on the campus. Many students will feel comfortable when you know that the people you can talk to in your native language will be there. The University does provide some scholarships during the admission process itself. I got a 10% scholarship. I am extremely happy with the University, my course and the beautiful country of Ireland. But beaware of job scarcity. Graduation jobs are very hard to get. People with 5+ years of experience will have it easy, but it may be hard for fresh graduates or with 1-2 years of experience. It's not impossible, but very hard. You may face a lot of job rejections initially.
Likes (Indian Food): There are a lot of Indian stores, where you can find most of the food ingredients or food products from India. This is a relief to many Indian students present in University of Limerick. I prefer cooking for myself rather than buying food outside every day. There are also ready made food options like frozen parathas, pizzas and garlic naan, which need a little bit of cooking in the oven and are ready to eat.
Dislikes (Part time work): On campus part-time jobs are very limited. Getting them is difficult. Offcampus part time opportunities are present. Part time work can be hard to manage along with academics as the academics are rigorous. But careful time management can make it happen. The average payout is the minimum wage, which is 14.5 EUR as of 2026.

It's a friendly and approachable university.
Tips: I was adjusting to the weather and food. I received a scholarship of around 1000 euros and it was helpful to me. The college is so friendly which has a lot of events and parties every day where students can communicate allover the country.
Likes (Safety): There is no harassment or any blackmail in Limerick. I can safely walk at night anywhere and the people are so kind and has helping nature that one should appreciate and helping nature. People talk so kindly and give respect.
Dislikes (Value for money): Things are a little expensive and the cost of living is very expensive, where students can't afford it and it will help someone who has less financial background and the transportation for cabs is also a little bit where one student can't afford.
