Master of Science in Biotechnology - Batch of 2027
3.5
A University with good study structure and minimal sports environment.
Tips: Adjusted well despite Culture Shift (punctuality, bureaucracy, German-first life). Got 2000-euro Erasmus scholarship via the university for my exchange in Poland. Know about your course structure and basic A1 German for survival/part-time. Very satisfied with Offenburg, my course, and Germany.
Likes (Safety): From my own perspective, there were no such negative instances experienced during the period while living in the city because of the kind nature of the neighbours and landlords. Apart from the security issue, the nightlife in Offenburg may not meet your expectations because of the absence of public transport after 10 pm.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Indian restaurants around Offenburg are not good in terms of taste and value for money. I prefer cooking at home over eating out. For budget friendly I would suggest kebab shops and bakeries. Use the Too Good to Go app to avail offers at restaurants. Aldi and Kaufland for grocery shopping.

MBA in International Business Consulting (IBC) - Batch of 2026
3.1
New place, new life gradually will start feeling like HOME.
Tips: Every country has its own culture, and the location of this university makes it more culturally rich. The new comers should stay flexible and accepting and try to assimilate into the local culture. Winters can be depressing here, and summers are indeed beautiful, especially when living in the Black Forest region. Overall if you want a transition in your life, GO FOR IT. This country tests your patience, but the results will surely be worthy.
Likes (Safety): The crime incidents are really rare in occurrence. The city is really peaceful, and most of the people are kind and helpful. The university also organizes a seminar with the city police for awareness to stay safe, especially in student life. The homeless and drug addicts are almost invisible, unlike in other big cities.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are no on-campus part-time jobs. In the winter season the opportunities for part-time jobs are extremely limited. The summer season opens a lot of jobs. The city is small, because of which most of the part-time jobs require at least conversational-level German language skills. The academic schedule was tightly planned, which made it tough to maintain a balance between studies and a part-time job.

Master of Science in Communication and Media Engineering - Batch of 2024
5.0
Review about Offenburg University of Applied Sciences
Tips: Before coming to Offenburg, you need to know that studying at a German Fachhochschule means total independence—nobody is going to hold your hand or track your daily progress. Moving to Germany was definitely the right choice, but adapting to the German academic system, culture, and language takes real effort initially. The upside is that Hochschule Offenburg has a huge international student community, which makes settling in, finding friends, and navigating local life way easier.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty gets a full 5/5 because Offenburg is a smaller university where professors actually know your name. You aren't stuck in massive, anonymous lecture halls here. Most of the professors spent years working in German industry before teaching, so their project guidance is totally practical rather than just theory from a textbook. Whether you need help with lab work or career advice, you can literally just walk up to them or send a quick email to set up a meeting.

University advise for newbies
Tips: Classes can be demanding and independent learning is required Exams are very practical and understanding-oriented and different from India's. Learn German. Use student discounts and don't hesitate to enjoy meeting new people and joining new events on campus.
Likes (Student Life): Student life is amazing. You get to experience a lot of activity experiences and sports and meet a lot of people, and it makes you feel different, and there are options to take multiple courses, and they are good professors, and it's an international environment, which is amazing.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It's Germany, and you don't get Indian food in Offenburg. There isn't even an Indian restaurant there. But you can go to nearby cities for that. You can also cook it yourself. It's Indian food, and not a lot of people who live here in this not-so-big German city eat Indian food.

self study is must, and German language is must for smooth life here however your course in English.
Tips: self study is more important than the class, for every subject you have to fine their basics and prepare vell for exams. not very hard to cultural shift. ones it starts it will adjust you in their ways. no need any scholarships, because tuition fee is 0, only have to pay semester constitution which is 67 euro in my case.
Likes (Safety): I feel vey safe living and study here, there are generally no major safety concerns and tee city has a peaceful environment. public transportation and other facilities are well organised and polish support is good around the country. I feel very positive and safe around and the country side also.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): the job market has become more challenging due to recants political and economical changes, with fewer job optioning and some layoffs, while salary standards are generally good and there are opportunity's in various field, overall job opportunity's is less

Good Learning Experience with Practical Opportunities
Tips: Students should know that studying here requires a good level of independence, time management, and willingness to adapt to a new culture. After coming to Germany, I experienced differences in language, communication style, punctuality, public services, and daily life. Learning German is very helpful, especially for part-time jobs, official work, and social interaction.
Likes (Part time work): Because there are many opportunities for international students. On-campus jobs such as student assistant or research support are available, although they are limited. Off campus, students can find jobs in restaurants, delivery services, and as warehouse workers. However, knowing the German language is important, even for part-time work.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Because there are several Indian restaurants in Nuremberg, but the verities and authentic regional taste are still limited compared to India. Indian restaurants usually cost around u20ac12-u20ac20. I usually prefer cooking at home because it is a cheaper, healthier.

Eye-opening, and life-changing challenges.
Tips: Firstly if your primary goal is to earn money please reconsider and allow a more deserving student to take the place. Secondly adhere to the rules as they are in place for a reason. Don't even consider pirating anything. You'll be fine with 900 euros. Scholarships are unnecessary. German universities have minimal fees. For instance, I pay 72 euros per semester, whereas I previously paid 700 euros monthly at NIT Calicut. Prepare thoroughly for your lectures, as materials are provided one week in advance. Do not attend lectures unprepared, as German professors will not hesitate to embarrass you.
Likes (Student Life): I graduated from NIT Calicut in India with a B.Tech degree and compared to that life here in Germany is at least 1000 times better. Libraries don't run out of books at the beginning of the semester professors aren't arrogant. You get licenses for 100 software programs to learn you can approach the student council if you have problems most events are free to participate and some paid events have minimal fees. You can join many communities and experience a lot more than you ever could in India.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I am in contact with over 20 companies that align with my interests and course. Regarding salary you can expect around 3000 euros per month upon joining with opportunities for significant experience and growth later. My advice is to focus on gaining experience and improving your German and English skills.

An academically oriented campus where you meet many like minded people from different cultures.
Tips: The cultural shift in my university is all inclusive of the German culture in general. A person who has transitioned themselves already in order to fit into the German culture can easily integrate themselves within the campus premises. There will be orientation or evening get-togethers where you can make friends from different backgrounds, understand their culture, play and eat along with them. It makes your university experience worthwhile.
Likes (Public transportation): You will get the option of buses locally and regular trains if you come from a nearby town. Since the university is near the city centre, it is easy to get there. And the university being close to the main railway station, you can easily walk to your campus.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The majority of the international students come here with the hope of settling down or getting a job without having proper knowledge of the local language. And since they spend most of their time earning or studying their English-taught course, they never get time to pursue learning German or even upskill themselves, which is why they eventually have to return to their own country.
