A diverse, supportive, and academically enriching experience at PSU.
Tips: Transitioning to PSU was smooth, though there was an initial cultural shift in adapting to a new education system and independent learning. The university provides various scholarships, but competition is high. I did not avail of any, but there are merit-based and need-based options available. Life at PSU is vibrant and engaging, with numerous student clubs, cultural events, and academic workshops. I spend my days attending classes, working on classes, and participating in student-led teach meetups. The university hosts career fairs, hackathons, and networking events frequently, which I actively participate in. Overall, I am highly satisfied with PSU, my course, and my experience in the US.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The faculty at PSU is knowledgeable and experienced, making learning a rewarding experience. They are highly accessible and approachable, always willing to clarify doubts and provide guidance outside class hours. The teaching methodology emphasises hands-on projects and real-world applications.

A great learning experience with some financial challenges.
Tips: Students should be prepared for a mix of academic and practical learning. The coursework is rigorous, requiring consistent effort. Living expenses in Portland are on the higher side, so budgeting is crucial. The weather is often rainy, which might take time to adjust to. Networking and internships play a key role in securing job opportunities. Overall, I am satisfied with my experiences and the university.
Likes (Safety): Portland State University has a well-equipped campus security system, including emergency call station, night safety escorts, and police patrols. The university also provides secure housing and counseling services. The campus is generally safe, and the city, while having some concerns, remains manageable with proper precautions.
Dislikes (Value for money): The tuition fee at Portland State University is reasonable compared to other universities in the U. S., but living expenses in Portland, including rent and transportation, make the overall cost high. While the quality of education is good, the return on investment depends on job opportunities post-graduation.

PSU - A worthwhile experience
Tips: Tution fee is slightly on the expensive side, however, the coursework does pave the way for good job opportunities as it has Intel, AMD and other good companies close by. The place is more welcoming with good options to explore for people with different food preferences. The beautiful and picturesque nature is the cherry on top.
The things to keep in mind are to focus on the coursework, projects/assignments and exams as the coursework, in general, is tough. Networking is highly important in order to get internships and further full-time opportunities.
Likes (Value for money): The coursework at PSU is crafted carefully to give the student industry-level knowledge at the school level alongside real-time projects which improves the skills. There are many good companies like Intel, AMD, NVidia that actively hire interns and full-time candidates from the university.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Considering the competition, the permanent settlement is tougher than earlier, however, not impossible. Networking with the right people might help in getting job opportunities and funding for a work visa. The process and time taken for permanent settlement is lengthy.

Strict academically but with a fun and happy campus life.
Tips: This is a very academically strict university with good campus life. I have learned how to manage my day and balance work and study together. Living away from family, I'm learning to do things on my own. You can also try for scholarship based on your academic performance. We have a safety shuttle that runs from 8 pm to 2 am. There are also stampede buses that run from 6 am to 2 am, and they come every 10-20 minutes. Every Saturday, there's a shopping shuttle that takes us to all the retail and food stores so we can buy all the basic necessities. Last, there's also the subway, which takes us downtown in a few minutes. Overall, I am highly satisfied with my experiences.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Post study jobs are based on individual persons' performance. You should attend classes and perform well so you can try to land positions as a teaching assistant or grader, which looks good on your resume. These positions might help you get an internship that you can later convert into a full-time position.

Great university for international students especially for computer science.
Tips: I didn't experience a great cultural shift at this university, and I found like-minded people in my class. The professors are very nice and approachable, and they teach the course material very well. The course structure is good, and the teaching staff is diverse in nationality. Most of the teaching and course structure is very practical, which I really appreciate. However, I didn't get any scholarship because my CGPA was not very good. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the university.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): SUNY Buffalo State has a good reputation, which makes it easier to get a job after graduation. This makes it easier to get permanent immigration options. However, I'm not planning to immigrate to this country. If I get a chance, I might consider moving here.
