MBBS - Batch of 2026
3.9
Good option for students with low budget.
Tips: Before you enrol at Pskov State University, you should know all the details about the university, including whether it is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and whether it follows NMC guidelines. You should talk to current students to get their firsthand accounts of the university. Don't blindly trust what your agent tells you. Do your own research.
Likes (Safety): If you are living in a university-provided hostel, you don't need to worry about safety. No one can enter the hostel without permission from the university, and there is 24/7 monitoring by CCTV cameras and a security guard on the premises.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): After completing your graduation or post-graduation, you can easily find a job through direct registration with the government. However, you must be proficient in Russian, as it is very difficult to work anywhere in Russia without language skills. Salaries are also quite good.

College is worth for money. Living expenses are affordable.
Tips: I have not experienced any cultural shift and have adjusted well to this university. I have not availed myself of any scholarships, and there are no schemes for applying for scholarships at my university. In this city there are no Indian restaurants, so it is not possible to get Indian food. However, there are restaurants like KFC so you can eat there. I prefer to cook my own food rather than eat out. It is more economical to bring spices from India and cook your own food. I am satisfied with my university experience.

The university is good and under budget.
Tips: Before coming to our university students should know that they will have to cook their own meals as there is no dining hall. They should also know basic cooking skills and be able to study independently. Finally they should be aware that there will be both good and bad people around them, and it is up to them to determine how they will survive here for the next six years. Most of the professors at this university were good. However there were a few who couldn't teach anything but asked hard questions and failed us. Also there was a lack of practical knowledge as we weren't fluent in Russian. However, there was a one-month internship at the end of each year where we could learn something. I am happy with my experiences.
Likes (Public transportation): As our hostel is not on the university campus we have to travel a very long distance to get to thecampus. The public transportation is good and we can get a bus every 10 minutes until 7 pm. After that we can get a cab but it will be a bit costly. There are public buses at every nook and corner and the bus fare is also cheap.

It is difficult to manage part-time and studies.
Tips: First of all the student should pass the NEET exam which is held in India. After passing you can directly contact the University through their site, mrsu.ru, and then apply and wait for a response. Alternatively, you could go through a study abroad agent, who will take care of everything. But beware of fraudsters out there. In India Indian medical graduates and foreign graduates have the same opportunities as doctors but foreign medical graduates have to first pass the FMG exam to be eligible to practice. I am having a hard time finding time to study with my hectic schedule and it is hard to balance a job and attending all the events I had hoped to attend. The language barrier has made this experience challenging, too and I find it difficult to effectively communicate with my employers. I also have been having a hard time managing the cold weather.

A very good college but no value for money. Fee is expensive.
Tips: I did not feel any sort of transition since I started staying in this city. I didn't have any scholarship. I came directly through a consultancy which was not official here before coming through the parental consultancy of the university. After reaching here, you will be taken care of by the coordinators of the hostel and will be provided with every facility.
Likes (Safety): The city is very safe. Not only the city, the hostel itself has very good security. No one except for students are allowed inside the hostels. Even outside the city is very safe. It is a good city to explore for one time. Once, I had lost my phone somewhere but I found it quickly because of the high security over here.
Dislikes (Value for money): The fee is not justified for this university. At the same fees you may get very good universities in different parts of Russia. So I don't recommend this university. Prefer choosing other universities having more experienced professors and that have better infrastructure.

The college is good but it is not value for money.
Tips: The college is good but it is not worth the money. There are better options at the same price. The college is strict and requires hard study to pass the exams. You'll have seminars every week. If you want to join this university, go with New Era Consultancy. They provide admission at the best price. NEET and 50% in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics are mandatory. There are no metro or subways in Saransk, but there are various types of buses, including minibuses, trolley buses, and electric buses. Bus fares are very reasonable at 30 rubles, and you can travel to any destination for the same fare.
Dislikes (Part time work): There is no scope for part-time work while studying at this university. Most students stay on campus and are only able to work during vacation time. However, if you do not travel to your home country during vacation, you may be able to find part-time work.

Bundle up for winters and buckle down for exams.
Tips: If you are willing to come to this university, you better prepare for the winter. Winters are really bad in Russia, and the temperature in the city can go below -20/25 degrees Celsius. Also, if you are a vegetarian, you better learn to cook. There are not many sources of vegetarian food available, and even in the winter, you will not find a variety of vegetables. As for academics, I don't know about the other courses, but in medical school, some teachers and facilities are really good. You also need to prepare for the semester exams.
Likes (Safety): The people in the city are good, and I haven't heard of any major incidents involving students. The main building at the university has a security check, and we have to use a tapping card to enter most buildings on campus.
Dislikes (Part time work): I was on a student visa, so I was not able to work part-time while I was studying. However, I did see some students from other countries working part-time at clubs and restaurants. I have never done any kind of part-time job throughout my academic year.
