Big buildings, big campus; more opportunities needed in collaboration for international community.
Tips: The cultural shift is as equal as it can be in any other university in Germany. The Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences is a great option for those who love spending time at their own pace. I don't have any leverage on the scholarship part because I applied without a scholarship. But the university provides, and you can be lucky to win them. The course is moderate to me, though the opportunities aren't enough to support a side or long-term hustle.
Likes (Safety): This locality is safe at any time of day. I feel safe travelling here late at night or early in the morning. The city has a good safety rating. Compared to other big cities in Germany, where it seems there are a lot of homeless people and drunk people, thankfully, the number of these types of unwanted people is low here.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The university is in a German town, close to a city in the Netherlands. The locals are either very young or old, and things are very calm and quiet, with plenty of space for people who like to live at their own pace. This is in contrast to big cities in Germany, where everything is busier and more expensive.

A Course That Opens New Horizons
Tips: Although I am very satisfied with my college and the course I am studying, one of the challenges I have experienced is the difficult of finding suitable accommodation and part-time employment in the area. Since the university is located in a relatively rural or village-like area, the availability of accommodation is quite limited compared to larger cities. At the same time, there is a high demand for rooms because a large number of students are looking for accommodation near the university. This makes it particularly difficult for students to find affordable and suitable housing within a reasonable distance from the campus. Finding a part-time job is another challenge. As there are many students living and studying in the area, there is significant competition for the limited number of part-time positions available locally. Many students depend on part-time employment to support their living expenses, gain practical work experience, and manage their financial responsibilities while studying. Consequently, available positions can be filled very quickly, and it may take considerably time and effort to secure a suitable job. While these challenges can sometimes be stressful, they have also encouraged me to become more independent, patient, and proactive. I have learned to explore opportunities beyond the immediate university area and to plan my accommodation and employment searches well in advance. Overall, despite these difficulties, I remain very positive about my university and academic experience, as the course has provided me with valuable knowledge, exposure, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty members at my university are highly experienced and well-qualified, which has contribute greatly to my overall learning experience. The lectures are informative, engaging, and well-organized, making it easier to understand even complex topics. I am particularly satisfied with the way the professors interact with students. They are friendly, approachable, and always willing to help whenever we have questions or difficulties related to our studies. One of the aspects I appreciate most is that the professors do not limit our learning to textbooks and theoretical concepts. Instead, they encourage us to gain practical exposure and understand how the concepts we learn can be applied in real-world situations. They regularly share information about practical opportunities, projects, workshops, seminars, and other activities that can help us develop knowledge beyond the classroom. This approach has given me greater exposure to the practical side of my field and has helped me understand the relevance of what I study. It also motivates me to explore different opportunities and develop skills that will be useful for my future career. Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of teaching and the support provided by the faculty. Their academic expertise, practical approach, and friendly attitude create a positive and comfortable learning environment. I feel that the guidance and exposure provided by the professors have played an important role in making my academic journey more meaningful and valuable.
Dislikes (Public transportation): In terms of infrastructure or transport facilities near the university, it may be said that everything is convenient because there are trains and buses to get from one town or village to another. For instance, one can take a train every 30 minutes from bigger towns, such as Krefeld. Buses are also available to get to Kleve and its suburbs. As a result, it becomes easy for students to access the university and some places where they can shop and access other essential services. However, there are some problems associated with transport facilities near the university. The first issue is that there are no means of transport at late hours because buses run until 10:30 p.m. This may be problematic to some students who may have evening classes or those who need to go out at that time to work or attend class. There are many restrictions on transport at night, with some students being forced to use private transport such as taxis or other cars. The second issue is that although there are many train services, they can sometimes be late or canceled. As a result, it may be quite challenging to get to some places on time to attend classes or work. While there is a very high level of connectivity, it would be extremely helpful if these two issues were addressed.

Good Academic Experience with Opportunities for Growth
Tips: The biggest adjustment at Uni Kassel is taking full charge of your own schedule—professors won't track your progress, so staying on top of self-study and exam prep is entirely on you. Dealing with the German language barrier and getting used to the academic style feels overwhelming during the first semester, but once you build a daily routine, things click into place. Overall, I’m really glad I chose Kassel; the course quality, university setup, and living in Germany have been a great experience.
Likes (Part time work): I rated part-time work 4/5, as there are good opportunities in Kassel. On-campus jobs include research/teaching assistant roles, while off-campus options include DHL, Amazon, restaurants, and retail. Work is manageable with studies, with pay generally around €13-16/hour.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I rated post-study jobs 2/5 because international graduates face challenges with German-language requirements and limited English-speaking roles. Engineering jobs typically offer €45,000–€60,000/year, with opportunities in telecom, IT, and R&D. But due to the recession, the job opportunities are very few.
