Tips: Syracuse University is quite good for certain fields such as Data Science, STEM and communications. The university is quite industry relevant and it is very career oriented which is what brought me here. They ensure you are well prepared for the market and professors are also well versed. With the new international student bills and regulations, things have become a lot more complicated than they ever us and hence, it makes it tricky to justify the cost of living and investment put in.

Great program if you can afford it without spending all your life savings.
Tips: Really good Architecture programme with two semesters abroad. I studied in London and Florence. It can get expensive. I did receive scholarships of up to 5000 per semester, barely anything. Also got 4000 to support an internship in NYC, which I used for accommodation costs. Transitioning was quite hard the first year - lots of peer pressure to participate in party culture. Lots of clubs and student run organisations, which are great. Great facilities - gym, mental wellbeing, transportation around campus, etc. Architecture professors are very involved and helpful.
Likes (Indian Food): South Indian restaurant in downtown - great food, but a bit far from campus. Good for ordering. Two Indian restaurants on campus, which is not bad. In and around campus (walking distance) has decent options - 7-8 good restaurants and lots of Asian food. Some fast food options and CVS on campus. For groceries, you will require a car/bus ride. I would rather spend the money on Instacart/Uber seats or make friends with a person who owns a car.
Dislikes (Value for money): Too expensive for international students since financial aid is not provided and scholarships are limited through the university for international students. Tuition is too expensive. If your family makes twice the total amount of attending, it is worth it. If you don't have a plan to pay for a 5-year B.Arch programme, consider a cheaper option with similar faculty/values.

Tips: Syracuse has always held a strong reputation especially in terms of academics and the coursework does reflect the same. Labs are great which is a plus if you're research oriented and eager to build a portfolio. Part time jobs for international students are mainly available on campus but these get filled up really fast so you'll have to apply early. Competition is high as well.

Tips: Syracuse is much larger than I'd imagine and has students from all across the world. Faculty is also diverse and adequately represented. You will have to learn to advocate for yourself in order to stand out. What I like here is that all our needs are met, be it within classrooms or outside. Before you reach campus, it's a good idea to figure out your housing situation by taking the help of the student communities and befriending your fellow classmates while in India itself.

Tips: I have transitioned into a more confident, aware, and independent individual after a lot of adjustment. The city is welcoming and filled with passionate and creative people. I found it helpful to socialise by attending mixers and joining study groups and clubs that aligned with my interests or where I learned something new. Waterproof shoes have been a very useful hack because of the weather.
Likes (Indian Food): The city's diversity, especially the large Indian population, means there are plenty of restaurants and food joints offering various cuisines, not just North Indian. While some cooking essentials are a bit pricey, everything is readily available and close to campus.

Tips: Syracuse is great for STEM-related and data science majors. My program can be intense as it is project-heavy, but it's very relevant to the industry. The engineering and business schools also interlink on several occasions, mainly for projects, which help in providing a diverse point of view. Carry spices from India, as you'll get the same stuff quite overpriced here.

Tips: The biggest drawback is the cold, chilly winters, which I'm not used to at all. The campus is very friendly, with lots of open spaces and is easily walkable, but a bike would make getting around much easier. The professors are friendlier and more informal than I expected, and joining all the batch groups, as well as making connections on LinkedIn before I arrived, has been helpful.

Tips: Students should know that Syracuse has a strong academic environment, but winters are harsh, so come prepared. Transitioning here involved adapting to the could, independent living, and a more open classroom culture. I received a merit-based scholarship during admission, which covered part of my tuition.
Likes (Part time work): On-campus jobs are fairly available, especially in dining, libraries, and tech support. Off-campus options are limited due to visa rules. Balancing part-time work with studies is manageable with good time management. Average pay ranges from $12 to $15 per hour, which helps with daily expenses.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are limited authentic Indian food options near campus. There are a few Indian restaurants mostly mid range in price but the variety is limited. I prefer cooking for myself as it's more affordable and reminds me of home where I have missed a lot of home food.

A supportive and opportunity-rich environment for growth.
Tips: Students should know that Syracuse University offers strong academic resources, great faculty and lots of opportunities, but you have to take initiative to benefit from them. Be prepared for cold winters and a different classroom style, which is more interactive, and participation often counts towards grades. The transition had its ups and downs. It's a growth experience. I received a 30% tuition scholarship, which was mentioned in my I-20. I didn't have to apply separately- it was based on my academic profile and work experience during the admission process. Overall, I'm quite satisfied. The course content is aligned with industry needs, and the professors are approachable. Syracuse is a peaceful place to focus on studies, and the U. S. in general offers a lot of exposure and opportunities in teaching.
Likes (Internships): There is a good amount of guidance available for finding and applying to internships at Syracuse University. The Career Services team and the Handshake platform are very helpful. Most of the internships I've come across are highly relevant to my field of study in Computer Science. There are opportunities in software development, data analysis.
Dislikes (Indian Food): While there are a few Indian restaurants in Syracuse, the variety and authenticity don't fully match what I'm used to back home in Mumbai. The flavours are often adjusted to suit American palates, and some regional dishes, especially street food or Maharashtra cuisine, are hard to find. I prefer cooking for myself most of the time. It's more economical and lets me make the kind of Indian food I miss from home.

Tips: There was a cultural shift after coming to this university. Scholarships are for residents only. So nothing really matters for international students. In terms of the course structure and professors they are friendly and communicate well enough.
Likes (Public transportation): The campus has access to modes of transportation that are public like buses trains and shuttle. Public transportation is affordable and accessible. For students it is at a discounted price. It is cost and convenient effective.
Dislikes (Value for money): Not worth it. We could've gone to another university with much better facilities, experience and education. So whoever is selecting the University of Colorado Denver. Do not assume that you got into a tier 1 university. So if you have a tier 1, then go for it.

Tips: The culture of Colorado is extremely immersive even though it takes a while to settle in so I would recommend one to arrive on campus before the orientation so they can truly understand what is needed and what to expect. As an undergrad, your SAT scores can determine whether you get in or not but once you've arrived, you are expected to contribute to society in non-academic ways as well which makes this truly a one-of-a-kind experience. Tips: The campus is filled with people of all sorts and there seems to be an endless buzz when you enter. There is an abundance of activities in and around here and it is hard to resist these at times. I did not avail of any scholarship although there have been a few introduced based on both need-based and merit-based which you need to plan for in advance before you apply. The classes are engaging and the faculty are highly cooperative, and helpful and will guide you with the assignments. I am highly satisfied with my experiences, the country and the university.

Lot of activities and great learning environment.
Tips: The best part of staying here is easily the student life. The faculty is cooperative and will guide you with your classes and assignments. The coursework is updated, and the classes are engaging. The community is not so welcoming and friendly, but it helps you care about your niche and follow your passion, which makes the whole college experience intangible. Make sure you have your I-20 form and documents in order, as you will need them on more than one occasion, and you can request a peer mentor for extra assistance if you may feel the need.

Tips: The faculty here is both passionate and pretty knowledgeable as well. A lot of programs are research-based, and you might be asked to present a thesis for some of the courses based on your degree as well. The campus is beautiful, and there is always something to do or explore, such as local food fests, concerts and more. There is an international student community who have helped and ensured that students like us can navigate and settle down easily. Overall, I am satisfied with the course, country and the university.

Tips: I did transition after coming here because of the welcoming environment and the international student community who have helped ensure that students like us are able to navigate and settle down. During applications, you can expect different levels of competitiveness based on the major you are opting for and the campuses as well. The faculty has been helpful so far. Surprisingly, Indian food here is truly exceptional and quite popular among Americans and Indians. You can find a number of Indian restaurants and eateries that too off different cuisines and you will not be disappointed. I make it a point to visit some of them at least once a week. It’s a good university but it is very difficult to find part time and internship.
Tips: You will need to hustle a lot for internships and part-time as there are many international students and foreigners and it's quite competitive. I recommend starting searching for it as soon as you come to the university and from the first day of your classes only. The country and the university are quite safe because of the continuous patrolling and security presence. There are security guards at the train station and emergency security guards on campus, which helps students feel safe and surrounded by people.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are very few part-time jobs available, and students are quite competitive. Even internships are hard to come by. If you don't get an internship, you might have to pay extra for summer classes.

A multicultural learning hub in Downtown Denver
Tips: I have started interacting with people from diverse backgrounds. This has made me more confident. People here enjoy privacy and usually like to be left alone. You need to maintain basic etiquette in public spaces. You need to follow rules all the time. I am getting a stipend for the role of teaching assistant. I got the role by contacting my graduate advisor. I am satisfied with the course and university because of the personalized attention that professors give me. They help you to really learn and become successful.
Likes (Indian Food): There are Mexican, Indian, Chinese, and Thai joints almost everywhere. Downtown Denver has many fast-food chains as well. I cook on weekdays. i.e outside once a week. The cost of per meal outside for one person is around $10 to $20. You also get a variety of food stores within the campus.
Dislikes (Value for money): The tuition fees is on the higher side for international students. Each 3-credit course is around $4200. The average cost per semester is around $12000. However, students can manage the cost with part-time work and scholarships. Students have access to various facilities such as a gym, library, printing services, medical services etc.

Eventful University experience wrapped in decent city vibes.
Tips: Though the University experience is decent, getting scholarships or financial aid is a little tricky here. The first semester, especially if you do not know anyone here could be challenging to figure out things. Denver as a city is nice, and worth the living cost.
Likes (Indian Food): There are a handful of Indian restaurants and grocery stores. I prefer cooking by myself. There are also Middle Eastern places that serve good food. Konark Grocers has all Indian grocery items including vegetables, biscuits and snacks.
Dislikes (Internships): To secure an internship, one needs to actively apply from the second semester onwards. Though there are career fairs at school, the applying part is totally on the student. We have a career center that helps with resumes. Not much guidance is provided by the University.

The university life is pleasant and has a diverse faculty.
Tips: I was skeptical at first and unsure about what to expect, but the student association made it a lot easier to adjust here. One of the biggest advantages of my major has been how valuable the study groups have proven to be. There are numerous collaborative spaces and research labs to get you a true experience of academia. The country is welcoming to international students as well. Faculty are understanding and even help us out with our assignment and research. Overall, I am higgky satisfied with the course, country and the university.
