Research and Evaluation Methods, MA - Batch of 2026
3.8
Great professors and experience.
Tips: I was sceptical at first but the campus and fellow students made me feel way more reassured. Everyone was helpful and there are resources dedicated to international students that one can avail which makes things a bit smoother. Campus is quite safe other than some places outside off campus which we are encouraged to be a bit cautious about after dark. My course is very academic and very research driven and a great path for someone interested in academia or pursuing a doctorate.

Marketing, MS - Batch of 2026
3.7
Mixed experience and opportunities.
Tips: My experience in university has been very transformative. I have learnt a lot since the very first week here and some have been truly profitable skills. People are very friendly and classes encourage you to embrace your creativity as well. The downside is that employment opportunities are very limited especially in my preferred field if you don't have as much extensive experience.

CU Boulder - A magical place to be for Electrical Engineering students.
Tips: Be prepared for very cold weather conditions, especially from November to March. All the courses are assignment oriented and hands on and hence require a lot of time and effort. Come prepared with basics about your major. They expect us to know the basics and not completely start from scratch.
Likes (Safety): Boulder is a very safe place. The Police and the emergency services are excellent and are on duty 24/7. The crime rate is extremely low. All Engineering students often have to stay back until late at night in the labs/library. I have never faced any issues or seen anyone face any issues. There are also free car rides for all the students from 6 pm until midnight to and from anywhere in Boulder, provided by the university.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Boulder has very limited options for Indian food. Even the ones that are there are not very authentic. Almost all are operated by Nepali people, and the taste is local. To get good and authentic Indian food, you will have to go to Denver, which is 1.5 hours by bus.

Master of Science in Data Science (STEM) - Batch of 2025

CU is the best place to study and get involved.
Tips: This college is student-friendly, which provides a lot of free transportation options, career support for students, and many on-campus opportunities. Additionally, the location is away from busy cities and provides a calm environment for students. However, the college doesn't offer any scholarships for international students.
Likes (Safety): The campus is very safe. There are CCTVs all over the place and only students and faculty members can enter the academic buildings. Moreover, CU provides free cabs in the evening for students to commute between campus and house. Also in general, the people in Boulder are student-friendly and helpful, and I've never encountered any bad experience till now.
Dislikes (Internships): The market is pretty bad and the college can only support up to a point. There are career services available, however, they can barely help you to fix your resume. Also, the college is in Boulder- where there are very less tech companies- adding more burden to hunt jobs.

Make the most out of your college. Have fun, be involved in student groups
Tips: There are lot of international student groups in campus which makes transition easy. I did RA and TA as part of my college and was able to pay a major part of fees from it. The power electronics degree from CU Boulder is one of the best in the world with a key focus on industry standards.
Likes (Safety): Boulder campus is very safe, there are police patrolling 24*7 around the campus. Also there are night cabs provided by the campus which makes commuting easy for students staying back in the library for late-night study and discussions. The police and security are always available on call.
Dislikes (Student Life): Boulder is one of the most beautiful campuses in the US. There are different organizations on campus where you could potentially be part of and participate in various programs. Also, there are different programs organized by the departments. Active participation in the student groups makes you stand out from the crowd.

Worth the struggle. A source of holistic development.
Tips: Slog hard, enjoy harder. The course taught me more than what I expected. I enjoyed every bit of learning and gave more attention to detail to excel at it. The university is inclusive and so is Australia. It wasn't as easy to acclimatise to the difference of just the sheer number of people you're surrounded with in the subcontinent, it felt empty, but I soon got into clubs and made connections that served me well.
Likes (Student Life): Cultural diversity, eventful, green campus and great sporting culture. It is a great place to be and one can be sure that you'll get at least something out of the campus that interests you and draws you in. With me it was the tennis club, events at on campus accommodation and a humongous library.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I don't find authentic Maharashtrian cuisine options much. Otherwise, Punjabi and South Indian food are the most common. I often did weekly meal preparation on weekends but tried out continental and oriental cuisines too.

Curtin will make you feel like home in a different country.
Tips: Be clear about what you want in your career and make the most of your student life. While in Perth, explore as much as possible and make friends. Follow Curtin public accounts to keep updated on what's going on university and be a part of everything in the university.
Likes (Public transportation): Curtin University have two main bus stands which are time stops, that means every bus will stop in these stands and wait until the time of departure mentioned on the website. We also have an app to track the bus location. Above mentioned is the public transport and also we have something like CABS which is a Curtin bus, it will connect all the areas of the university and surrounding suburbs every 15 minutes.
Dislikes (Part time work): The university will have programs like Work Integrated Learning (WIL), where you can land unpaid or paid internships. University Hub is a website that is a mini LinkedIn or seek for Curtin students to find part-time jobs, internal university jobs and internships. I rate 3 for part-time because most of the students don't know about these, even though so many events are organised for students and it is quite competitive as well.

Amazing experience, surrounded by great people coming from multi-cultural background.
Tips: My transition was initially very chaotic as I arrived a week late and missed orientation week, so I had to figure everything out myself. However, I received very good support from my university, where their student mentor team helped me settle down in Perth and on campus. Regarding scholarships, all international students receive a 25% scholarship on their first year's tuition fees at Curtin. Besides this scholarship, you can also check for need-based scholarships on the Curtin website. I am very well satisfied with my university and course, as there is more practical learning experience here than traditional pen-and-paper theory. The country has not disappointed me in any way, and I would highly recommend it to people who are willing to work hard.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation in Perth is great because on Sundays you get free rides on buses, ferries and trains. Also, there are special CAT buses that run internally in the city, which are free even during weekdays. Most of the suburbs are well connected with the buses and trains, but after 6 pm, the frequency gets reduced. There's a helpful app for Perth's public transport in which you can put your stop number and get the details of the schedule of the Next bus or train, as well as how much it would cost. This makes it easier to plan your trips.
Dislikes (Internships): All the other universities in Australia don't have a placement system, like Indian colleges. There are career fairs in universities that are held, but most of them are mostly networking events and do not give you actual jobs. Especially if you are an international student, unless you have a Course Weighted Average of 80% and above or higher and have completed at least two years for a Bachelors's degree and one year for Master's. Your chances of getting an internship through a university are next to impossible.

Not worth the money, look out for better options.
Tips: Curtin University is quite easygoing, and they provide scholarships to every student. The food is good, but expensive. You get a variety of options, including eating food from back home. Personally, I would prefer cooking my own food, which would also be healthy for both my health and finances, but it can be time-consuming for us international students. Which is better, though, really comes down to your own preference. As far as satisfaction, I'm satisfied with Australia, but I wouldn't say that about the course itself. It's not worth the money. It makes getting permanent residency unlikely, and it doesn't support internships.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): You’re better off studying a diploma course than this master’s course because there’s a good chance that you won’t get permanent residency in Australia with this course. I’d suggest a diploma, which is more likely to lead to permanent residency in no time. That will not only save you lots of money, but it will also lead to a permanent residency opportunity, which will make your money go a lot further.

There are events on campus like mentorship programs, career fair and food festivals.
Tips: I have not experienced any cultural shift as I was not raised in India and I was raised abroad throughout my life. But, students may experience cultural shifts coming from India for sure. I'm currently not on any scholarships but I'm sure there are scholarships available. I'm very satisfied with my university experience and the country but I'm not really satisfied with the lecturers from the IT industry/computing department at this university. Although the cost of living is expensive, the quality of life is really great here and very comfortable. The infrastructure is great too and people are friendly here.
Likes (Student Life): I spend my day by walking up early and going to the gym, then going my classes, and then coming back and revising the notes from my classes, socializing with my friends. The lifestyle at university if great especially if you live on campus as everything would be nearby like for instances the gym, football fields, library, the bus stop etc. There are events that are organized on campus like mentorship programs, career fair, food festivals, hockey games, start of semester/end of semester parties and many more which are great opportunities to make new friends at the college. There are several student clubs and communities on campus. There are clubs related to what you study, religious clubs etc.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are not many Indian restaurants in Perth. So, you will have a hard time eating outside if you want Indian food. In the locality, there are fast food restaurants, sports bars, and other restaurants with prices between 20-50 Australian dollars. Food is pretty expensive in Australia. I prefer cooking myself but I normally eat outside as I'm not very good at cooking.

A transformative and enriching experience at Curtin University.
Tips: Students should know that it is important to take advantage of the support services available on campus like academic counselling, career services, and student clubs. I availed the academic merit scholarship that gave 25% off my first-year tuition fee, which can be availed during your admission if you are eligible. The eligibility criteria is to secure more marks than the admission requirement. I am pretty satisfied with my experience. The university focuses on practical learning along with theoretical knowledge, this is something that provides valuable skills to grades.
