Best academics, but career growth depends on self effort.
Tips: Look, the uni is great for the academic side of things, obviously, but you've gotta realize that landing a job or an internship is basically just down to you. It takes a ton of networking and just... putting yourself out there constantly. My move over was smooth enough, but the weather and just the general lifestyle change was a massive shock to the system, especially without any scholarships or anything like that to lean on. You honestly have to take charge of your own career from day one—applying for everything and just constantly building up your skills. The uni gives you the basic stuff like job boards and some advice, but at the end of the day, the hard work is really just on you. Adjusting to the cold and everything takes time, especially if you're dealing with health stuff, and you just have to learn to be way more independent and handle the day-to-day on your own. It does get easier once you've got a routine sorted, but yeah, it’s a good experience for exposure as long as you're actually getting out there and making it happen. It's just a lot of work.
Likes (Indian Food): Honestly, you won't really struggle to find something familiar to eat here since there's just so much Indian, Asian, and even Middle Eastern food all over the place. If you're grabbing a takeaway, you're usually looking at around £15 to £20, while a sit-down meal at a restaurant is probably more like £20 to £30. Groceries are everywhere too, and the prices vary quite a bit between stores, so cooking for yourself is actually a pretty solid way to keep your costs down.
Dislikes (Internships): Opportunities exist but are not easy to access for international students. The university offers guidance like CV review ad job portals, but most of the efforts are self-driven. Internships in the field are highly competitive and securing one requires early preparation and consistent application and strong networking.

Peaceful, education-friendly, cooperative, and always up to the expectations.
Tips: Never assume York is a cheap place; actually, it's not. It's located in a small village, so you won't find many job opportunities. But if you're someone who's only going to study, this is the best place. It has a very beautiful lake and a huge campus where you don't feel any noise or disturbance.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is very nice and cooperative. They try their best to make us learn, understand, and master our subjects. Also, they let us share our ideas roughly and help us polish them and present them nicely. Lecturers are always available to listen and clear doubts either via email or in person.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The recent immigration rules have made it so difficult to get a visa sponsorship for any job, plus most of the time they reject applications to stop migration. Also, a post study work visa is expensive plus they have shortened the time span, too. All these make permanent settlement a big challenge.

New learnings for new beginnings.
Tips: I experienced a cultural shift, since it is a Western country, and we will experience a huge cultural shift. But you will feel good and learn a lot. I got a personal scholarship from my university since I performed well in my undergraduate studies. I am completely satisfied with all the things.
Likes (Value for money): The tuition fee for my course is justified. I had good and well-mastered lecturers from whom I gained a lot of knowledge about my course, and also I should speak about the campus safety, where every single person who studies at that university is taken care of.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are a lot of companies that are offering visas for work. But it all depends upon how you perform in your academics and actively apply for jobs. As a student, you can work up to 20 hrs per week in any role, and you can get to know about the opening from the university portals themselves, where you'll be paid up to 900 pounds per month.

Part-time work opportunities in York are plentiful because it's a tourist destination.
Tips: It’s a beautiful, pleasant town. And the university was a good choice for my area of study. Students must be careful while choosing the place they wanna live in according to their preferences. It’s definitely not easy to live in a whole new place, leaving family and home. Part-time work opportunities in York are plentiful because it's a tourist destination. Students should be able to get good tips because the restaurants are usually busy. They also have the chance to work at stores and malls in the city centre, where commissions are paid on top of the base wage, providing an added incentive to perform well.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I personally wouldn’t want to settle in the UK as their healthcare system isn’t great. If you have a really high-paying job, then maybe it’s a good choice. But it’s not easy to manage the cost of living there as it’s too high. And kids won’t be getting any citizenship until 7 years old, which is another con.

University of York is one of the best university for research.
Tips: Students should learn the basics, make use of the resources, and be extremely satisfied with the professors and course material. The transition was easy, and there was a diverse student body that provided many opportunities to interact and learn. However, I did not apply for a scholarship. Overall, I am quite content with my experiences here.
Likes (Post study jobs): There are more than 100+ companies in the UK that are relevant to the audio industry. On average, people can get paid anywhere from 25,000 to 50,000 per year. There is a variety of work available in the audio industry for potential candidates.
Dislikes (Internships): The University of York provides a lot of guidance to students on how to get internships. They have a career and placement cell that is extremely helpful when it comes to providing guidance on companies and other requirements.

Great campus life, amazing academics but dull UK job market.
Tips: Academics are rigorous but not stressful. It focuses on more independent study. Time management and self-discipline are crucial. York is a historically picturesque city but small compared to other cities like Birmingham and Manchester. It's great for students who enjoy a laidback atmosphere, as it gives easy access to nature and historically sits. The cost of living is on the higher side. You can find international stores to get desi stuff. UK academic culture stresses critical thinking and independent research, so that's one thing that was a bit different from India. For many the UK weather could be a challenge and sunlight hours also affect people. I did not avail of scholarships, but my friends did. You just have to write an essay or answer a few questions, and if you have done well, you can get a fee exception. I am very satisfied with my university and course. But the job market in the country is a bit of an issue.
Likes (Student Life): I would say exceptional student life. Lively campus and picturesque views. I mean, the campus is really beautiful. A short walk can cheer one up on your worst day. The university accommodation is fantastic. UoY provides an inclusive atmosphere. My day started with lectures and seminars followed by self-study in UoY's world-class library facility. Then I would go for free sports, where I made a lot of friends from different countries and backgrounds. The freshman week is the best time. You make really good connections and enjoy free food. The library is open till late hours and 24x7 during examinations. Various kinds of events are organized, and you can experience the Roses tournament as well. The variety of student-run societies like academic societies, sports clubs, and cultural and international societies allows each student to get involved. There are student discounts on food and gym subscriptions as well.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The job market exposure is limited. The university is known for excellent research, though, but it does not help that much to secure a job. But it can surely help the students who want to go into the research and development or academic path. The city is smaller than Manchester or Birmingham and has a reputation for tourism rather than industrial presence, which makes it difficult to get opportunities. But, in general, the whole UK job market is not in favour of immigrants. So, it's not just the university. Very few companies offer jobs to international students and even fewer offer sponsorship. Graduate roles are very hard to secure. It makes sense and a bit easier if one has work experience. Job roles offered: data analyst, software developer, consultant, process specialist. Salary packages range from GBP 25k to 35k.

A historical institution to build a better future for all people from all walks of life.
Tips: The transition to a new country is never simple but there is a lot of support for anyone that's looking for it. Before moving to York, it would be good to get in contact with coursemates and students you will be living with. In addition, spend time looking into societies you want to get involved in as early on in the year there will be plenty of taste sessions to go and participate in which will aid in socializing in a new environment. The university also has a buddy programme that would put you in touch with someone at the university who may have gone through the experience previously and guide you through an easy transition experience. Looking for part-time jobs is fairly easy as well, the university has its own platform, Handshake to look for opportunities. Indeed is a great widely used option as well.
Likes (Safety): Campus security maintains a very active presence on campus with routine patrols to ensure safety and is very helpful in medical emergencies as well. Other than campus security, York is generally a very safe city. It consistently ranks in the top 5 of the safest areas within the UK for student areas which means stepping out late at night can be stress-free for everyone.
Dislikes (Public transportation): York has a well established bus network that allows you to travel around the city comfortably with options to track bus timings. We also have an app as well. The train station in the city centre has great connectivity with direct trains to London taking about 2 hours.

University of York is all thing from study to support
Tips: The University of York is a research based Russell group university. University is located in York, a welcoming and peaceful city, with historical architecture. Apart from the city, campus itself is beautiful and has a lot of study space for individual as well as group study. Also, the university offers student assistance right from the application process to the move to York. Staff is accommodating and helps students to their best knowledge. University provides guidance to improve skills for academics and professional prospects as well as in managing living expenses. I received Chevening Scholarship funded by UK FCDO, in which 20% of the scholarship is funded by the university.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty at the University of York can be contacted via email or in-person. They are friendly and understand the demands of the diverse student community. Instead of traditional methods of providing classroom lectures, university employs a novel approach, they are a mix of lectures, seminars, practical, and also drop-in sessions for questions.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The University of York provides a free campus shuttle bus to students and faculty. Campus shuttle connects all of the major bus stop from West to east campus. Aside from the free campus shuttle, various paid public transmit options are available. The campus is well-connected to the main city, York City Centre is in 10 minutes walking distance from campus West.

My Experience with University of York
Tips: One of the most important changes that I have experienced is the change in the weather. The winters in York can get really cold so please be prepared to buy good quality winter wear that will last. The University has done a lot to make the transition smoother. There are a number of fresher week activities including college lunches and coffee meets where students can meet other international students as well as home students. There is also a lot of mental health support available at the university which are easily available to all. There is a visa office that helps with any queries regarding your visa or stay. The curriculum is different from what it is in India and there is a dedicated academic skills hub for helping students ease into the university curriculum. York itself is a beautiful city, especially for history buffs like myself. The university campus is serene and green and there is plenty of study space. Overall I am satisfied with the University campus and its curriculum.
Likes (Part time work): There are a number of on campus part time work available like International ambassadors, academic representatives etc. In addition, there are a number of shops and cafes like Nisa and Greggs within the campus which can offer possible employability. York is a relatively small and historic city with enough part-time jobs available. Update the resume and use indeed and LinkedIn to do the applications. The minimum wage is 10 pounds and since there is a 20-hour work limit per week, it is possible to effectively manage academics and work.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are a number of Indian restaurants in the City Centre but they are a bit expensive. The groceries however are pretty affordable. It's highly recommended to cook for yourself during the initial months until you're settled in. Indian groceries are available in shops like Morrisons and Makkah which are about 30 minutes away from the University.

The University of York is an excellent university in each aspect.
Tips: York is a good university but primarily depends on your course. However, the Computer Science department is very good. I didn't get any scholarship, but a couple of people whom I know got it, which means yes, scholarships are being offered in my course. When I joined, the fee was 24000 Rs. But now it's around 27K. Moreover, the campus is really good it's like having your own city. I lived in Annelister College, and the accommodation was around 8k when I joined. It was a well-balanced shift in a good way.

Check for scholarships before you start your course.
Tips: Scholarship details should be checked before coming because a lot of people tend to miss the scholarship and end up paying a lot more. Part time needs to be applied really quickly because the number of students completing for part time is a lot which can leave you jobless while studying.
Likes (Safety): It feels safe to walk around the city at any time of the day and night. Everyone respects one another. I have walked all around the city on a cold winter night while never facing issues from anyone. Did not even see anyone else have any safety issues.

The University of York is a beautiful experience.
Tips: I received the Be Exceptional scholarship of 37500. I would advise you to apply for the scholarships well in advance. Overall I'm very satisfied with the course, university, and country. I would also suggest being a part of social clubs and societies as they always have something going on.
Likes (Post study jobs): A plethora of events are organized by the university including bar crawls, social, game nights, karaoke, etc. I absolutely love socializing with people and I never miss an opportunity to take part in social events. Additionally, the campus is also very beautiful.
Dislikes (Value for money): I believe the faculty at the University of York is top-notch. They are extremely friendly, approachable, and supportive and have always helped me throughout the course. Being a part of the Biology department I spend most of my time in the labs. The labs are exceptional with all the facilities.

Stepping out of your comfort zone and living the world that lies beyond your constricted boundaries
Tips: The cultural shift is very evident and yet it is not overwhelming or unmanageable. Staying true to yourself and being open-minded and accepting takes you a long way.
There are University competitive scholarships available. However, I was unsuccessful in attaining one.
I am very happy with the choice of the University I made. It has far exceeded my expectations in every manner.
Likes (Value for money): The study curriculum is designed very thoughtfully and imparted very practically. The professors are very friendly and easily approachable. You can not only discuss with them the academic difficulties that you might be facing but also any personal challenges that you will encounter. They are always more than happy to be of assistance.
Dislikes (Internships): Finding an internship is your own task and it is very difficult to manage an internship and your studies. The internship almost always requires more working hours than you are allowed. The professors and the academic supervisors don’t even suggest a part-time job as it is considered very time consuming.

One of the safest and best university in UK
Tips: Look and research thoroughly about your course and also about the city. If you are more interested in party rich and more lively city life then this is not the city as there is not much of a young population. Also one should look into the availability of cheap options for rent.
Likes (Safety): York as a city is one of the safest city in UK. Also this particular university has very low or no racism and has a good amount of cultural diversity between students. Also as there is not much young crowd in York so there is not much crime happening in the city.
Dislikes (Internships): Less internship options are available for my field of study. Also as York is not a big city so there are obviously fewer options available but the university should focus more on providing internship opportunities and should organise more workshops and awareness events.

Good university, life is awesome and studies are a bit hard
Tips: I would ask students to just join the university and then it would be easy once you are here. However, think about the course that best suits you or else it would be a waste. Life is good here, you would be having a lot of fun parties, night outs and get together etc.
Assignments are the main area of focus as it would be new to some and adapting would be difficult so a proper understanding of what you are doing will help. Always there will be support from the teachers so there is no issue just don't hesitate.

Life studying in the University of Western Australia is very stressful but worth it.
Tips: Life at the University of Western Australia is a bit of a struggle at first. You have to juggle studies, household chores, and a part-time job. But you get used to it over time. The college is great with friendly people and amazing staff who are helping and kind towards all.
Tips: I didn't experience any cultural shock at UWA. The people are friendly and welcoming and the student body is diverse. I was awarded a merit-based scholarship of 15,000 AUD. I am satisfied with UWA and my course of study which has provided me with great exposure to the field of human resources and employee relations in Australia.
Likes (Safety): I felt safe on campus and off campus at the University of Western Australia. There are always people around to help you out. I was traveling late on the train one night and police officers were on the train which made me feel even safer. The guards are also helpful and the people at the information booth are always willing to answer questions.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The University of Western Australia is a great school with friendly people and amazing staff. However, for Indian students the prices are a bit more hiked up as compared to other countries. Also it would be hard to find good quality Indian food as some may sell frozen food for 20 Dollars which isn't even worth it. Fortunately there are a few restaurants that offer good deals and are worth the hype.

Good university and course structure for courses but not a lot of help with future opportunities.
Tips: I got a scholarship which was only available for south Asian students at that time. I don't think it's available any longer, however, I got 5000 per year so a total of 10,000 for Masters. I was satisfied with the education I received and my course and mostly satisfied with the staff and really enjoyed the country. I however wasn't too happy with how limited help the university provides with finding jobs during or after graduation. 8 months later I still don't have full-time work and I know quite a few other people in the same situation. Australian employers give preference to candidates with Australian work experience and then abroad full-time work experience even for graduate roles.
Likes (Safety): We have an App to contact emergency campus patrol services at any time. Have felt pretty safe traveling around the city even at night. Haven't had any issues with the local people and any incidents heard of are very far and few even though the general consensus outside of Australia isn't great.
Dislikes (Internships): No guidance at all on finding internships. The university used to provide volunteering internships previously but recently they have moved to having to pay course fees to get them. If you network outside of university resources you have a better chance of it. Hard to get an internship.

Great experience at The University of Western Australia
Tips: The University of Western Australia is a prestigious university with a good international ranking. I got the Global Excellence scholarship which depends on the marks scored in Bachelors the details of which can be found on the University website. Australia is good in terms of abundant resources and opportunities here. The course is taught by illustrious professors excelling in the field.
Likes (Indian Food): Indian food ingredients are available here. There are several Indian restaurants here too. The typical Indian food will be available only at the Indian stores which are a little far in the suburbs. Although it will be expensive. The University food at the cafeteria is fine and helps when there is a small gap between the classes.
Dislikes (Public transportation): The public transportation is okay in terms of connectivity with the campus. It is better to find accommodation near the University as it will save lots of time. Finding accommodation in Perth is competitive nowadays due to a huge influx of students now.

Enriching experience. Teleportation to my dream
Tips: I am fully satisfied with my university and its academic curriculum. I used to think that it would be hard for me in terms of the transition from India to Australia but was not hard for me cause my university provided me with enough support. Besides this, I enjoyed exploring this path as I was on my own and it made me independent and a new but fantastic experience. I think everyone if they could should experience it. It is really among the best years of my life.
Likes (Safety): Choosing the UWA in Perth has been an enriching experience. The campus prioritizes our safety with well-lit pathways, top-notch security and efficient emergency services. It's more than just security, the university genuinely cares bout our well-being, offering comprehensive health services and fostering a sense of community through collaboration with local authorities. Perth has a vibrant culture and people are friendly which is ideal for the international student. Despite the usual challenges the unique charm of the city and the array of recreational opportunities have significantly enhanced my academic journey.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I like to cook on my own and sometimes explore the outside food options. But for vegetarians like me there are limited options here for dining out but yeah if someone likes to cook they can find all the resources needed for the cooking. The positive side is that those who do not know cooking will learn and enjoy cooking as it is a basic skill everyone should know.

Worthwhile experience of redoing a Law degree in Australia
Tips: Studying a full-time degree at UWA require regular studying and keeping up with the lectures. The teaching style was quite different from what I was used to in India. I was a recipient of the Global Excellence scholarship for the duration of my study. This was awarded to me on the basis of my academic achievements.
Likes (Value for money): The Master of Legal Practice programme provides the opportunity to complete the required unit as assessed by the Legal Practice Board with an ability to obtain a masters level degree. The lecturers are excellent and the case scenarios are relevant and updated.
Dislikes (Part time work): I did not apply for on campus placements. I worked as a Law Clerk at a boutique law firm while studying the course full-time. The work/study balance was manageable as I worked 3 days a week and spent the 2 days at the university for tutorials. I was paid the minimum wage for working as a law clerk.

UWA provides you vast future job opportunities and great learning experience as well.
Tips: Study style and the level of study are a bit different here as compared to India. Here the main focus lies on practical knowledge and building your skill set for future job opportunities rather than on theoretical knowledge. The teaching staff is also very friendly and helpful here.
Likes (Public transportation): The transportation facility in Perth is amazing. And being a student it's cheaper too. There are bus and train services that connect to the university and they are scheduled every 10-15 mins. You just need to get a TransPerth card and with a tap of a card you can easily travel anywhere in Perth and that too at affordable prices. Even there is a bus service called CAT and that is free of cost.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Being a vegetarian gets a little tough in Perth. As there are limited options in vegetarian food as compared to non-veg items and if available they are a little expensive and you might have to travel a bit to have some good authentic vegetarian Indian food. I usually prefer to cook on my own.

The university is good but competitive.
Tips: Perth is a quiet city with weather that is different from India. The UV component is high, as it is in any part of Australia. You should be open to adapting to all of these changes. Before you enroll, take a good look at the curriculum. You can also apply for international student scholarships.
Likes (Student Life): The campus is always hopping with something going on, usually events organized by the various clubs. You'll have a good time with friends, but be aware that the university workload is different from the Indian system, and time flies by. It's important to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It shall be a hard city to live in for vegetarians. Perth is one of the highest meant consuming cities in the world. Learn to cook for yourself. Even for a meat eater, the food is expensive. Be prepared to cook but at least you have a fallback option in case you are running late.
