Studying a Masters in Economics at the centre of Paris.
Tips: Before coming to Dauphine for Economics, make sure your quantitative and math background is solid—the coursework demands heavy independent study and countless hours grinding in the library. Also, don't underestimate the language barrier. Even if your program is taught in English, learning French is essential for navigating daily life, admin paperwork, and social circles in Paris.
Likes (Student Life): I gave student life top marks mainly because of the campus culture. PSL draws an international crowd, so you end up with friends from totally different backgrounds without even trying. Dauphine keeps campus lively too—there are regular cultural nights, career expos, and sports clubs to jump into, so your social life outside lectures is always stacked.
Dislikes (Part time work): I gave part-time work a 3/5 mostly because juggling a job alongside a Master's in Economics here is tough. The academic workload—between endless readings, problem sets, and library hours—doesn't leave you with much energy or free time during M1. On-campus roles like research or admin gigs do exist, but you're dead in the water if you don't speak fluent French. Most international students end up working off-campus in cafes, retail, or hospitality instead. The pay is enough to cover your basic Paris rent and living costs with a bit left over, but time management is a constant battle.
