Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Aquaculture, Environment and Society Star - Batch of 2024
Offered by University of Nantes
4.1
It's a nice university with good educational support and a lot of green space.
Tips: The transition had been both exciting and challenging. The course and the culture had been exciting, and while the language barrier was a challenge. I had a scholarship from the European Union, called the Erasmus Mundus, which made my life in France easier. However, in general, student life in France is very favourable because of various help from the government like apartment allowances and support from NGOs that provide free or highly discounted groceries. During the 4th Semester of the master's program, you are required to complete an internship. I did mine in a lab and the skills I acquired helped me land a PhD immediately. One can earn from 2100 euros and more depending on the type of PhD. Regarding other job placements, the university has a placement cell that helps students in finding jobs, however, the priority is for French speakers.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are classes every day of the week from 9h to 17h, and they are quite intensive. In addition, if there is a language barrier, it will be difficult to get a part-time job. I cannot say much more on this topic because I was a scholarship student and had no need to seek part-time work.
