Master of Science in Computational science in engineering - Batch of 2027
4.7
University with endless possibilities with an affordable price tag
Tips: Food is the only main struggle initially, so adapt to it as soon as possible and just enjoy do more things than just studies; look out for events; we have very close by cities that you can visit using your D-ticket, so explore cities, sports, etc. Also try different beers here; every state has some beer that is local to them, so do try them all if you can.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is perfect; here there is a mentorship system where a professor is there to help you out with all the problems you can face during your studies, plus the quality is just amazing; many doctors and people with deep knowledge about the subjects teach here.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are many companies that offer jobs, but given current global economic conditions, it can be a bit harder, especially if you do not know the language very well. Apart from that there is not much to say here really; especially if you know the language or speak some of it, you can get jobs easily.

Master of Science in Computational Sciences in Engineering - Batch of 2023
4.1
Renowned and well established University
Tips: It is quite an intensive course, very deep in mathematics and computer science. It has an integrated German language requirement as well, which makes the overall course a lot more demanding. The depth of each subject is also to be taken into account. Please also be aware that the course includes a mini project and then an intense thesis.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Incredibly renowned and known faculty. Very deep and intense courses in every field. It's one of the top universities in Germany and also renowned for science and engineering. All the faculty are top researchers and professors in their field and very dedicated as teaching staff. The opportunities for research are great.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There were not a lot of Indian restaurants and grocery stores when I started, almost none. But now it has gotten better. There are some South Indian restaurants as well and a few Asian grocery stores. The Indian population there has grown drastically ever since, and thus the more options.

M.Sc in Data Science - Batch of 2028
4.6
It is well knowledgable and friendly university
Tips: Before signing up for this program at TU Braunschweig, you need to understand that it is heavily designed as a stepping stone for academia and research. If you are expecting hands-on, practical coding labs or industry-style training workshops, you are going to be severely disappointed. The modules are deeply theoretical, abstract, and incredibly rigorous. This creates a massive hurdle for international students, especially coming from the Indian education system. Back home, we are generally conditioned to handle mathematics using concrete numbers, formulas, and step-by-step calculations. Here at a traditional German TU, math completely shifts into a language of its own. Instead of just plugging numbers into an equation to get a quick answer, you're basically stuck writing out massive paragraphs of logic and proofs just to explain why the math works in the first place. It requires a massive mental shift in how you study, and if you don't adapt to that level of theoretical depth early on, the exam phase will be an absolute nightmare.
Likes (Public transportation): The public transportation is included in our semester fee, so everything becomes free for us. Since we are new to this country, we don't have any vehicles, and public transportation is the only key. My city is well connected, and we have trams and buses running frequently.
Dislikes (Internships): I rated the internship 3 out of 5 because while there are opportunities for growth, the progress of finding and securing one is very difficult. My course doesn't have mandatory internships. As a result, students need to find it on their own and apply directly to the companies.

Challenging but indeed rewarding on a longer run.
Tips: Major transition: one cannot compare the courses from India to TU Braunschweig courses—they are widely different and challenging but achievable. Not a major cultural shift in my case—I could not get a scholarship, but the university is free of cost (I used to pay around 350€ for a semester between 2016 and 2020, which covered admin fees, exam fees, and transportation). But there are DAAD scholarships, but they are very challenging with high competition—absolutely satisfied with the CSE course. One must remember it is not an easy ride; do not plan 2 years of generic M.Sc. tenure, ideally planned for 3-4 years (you will be able to support yourself financially by part-time jobs in the university or outside).
Likes (Student Life): Large, spread-out campus, many eateries and cafes around—best university library, spent a lot of time there. - Campus events were endless: Asta events, university days, expose, career advice days, meetings with industry experts, courses sometimes included visits to companies like Lufthansa Technik, etc. - Many student clubs, offering a variety of activities and courses apart from studies.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are a few Indian restaurants, but they cannot compare to the taste of home-cooked food or the Indian food that we get in India. - A North Indian meal for 2 would cost around 40 euros, or sometimes there are buffets for 15 euros per person. - I personally preferred cooking at home with friends most of the time. We get enough Indian and international friends in the town.

Master of Science in Environmental Natural Sciences - Batch of 2021
4.2
World-class research in a quiet, student-friendly city.
Tips: Coming from India, the biggest cultural shift is the quiet and orderly nature of the city. The research-environment is English friendly, but German is essential for a good daily life and to make new friends. PhD positions are typically funded by employment contracts rather than scholarships. The salary is generous relative to the average monthly cost of living and there's even room to save some money. I was highly satisfied with the research infrastructure and academic rigour at the Institute. You have a lot of collaborations with other research institutes and get exposed to high-quality cutting-edge research. The city is also very safe and affordable. Although the city is on the smaller side, it is well connected to all big cities via high-speed trains and close to Hannover International Airport.
Likes (Public transportation): You'll get a semester ticket from the university which allows you to take all the buses, trams and metro for free in your city/town. All the local trains/regional trains in the state are also available to the students for free. The public transportation is very safe, has good frequency and some lines also operate at night.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Most of the restaurants are going to focus on the European palate so the food might be bland. Vegetarian options at some of the restaurants are quite limited. There are a few completely vegetarian and vegan restaurants which can be good options for Indian vegetarians.
