Independent learning and growth.
Tips: While everyone in university speaks English, learning German is a must for day-to-day tasks, like shopping, going to restaurants, etc. Not knowing German will get you by, but it becomes very different to completely convey your thoughts. Public transport is amazing here, and will be sufficient for most parts. Most students get subsided D-ticket that is valid throughout Germany. Unlike popular belief, native Germans, at least in Saarland, are very friendly and helpful. The university has everything that a student would need in terms of academics as well as co curricular.
Likes (Quality of faculty): While the professors expect students to be more independent in learning, true for all German Universities, any doubts are answered with clarity. Further its very easy to approach the professor regarding academics or otherwise. Most of my professors are German, but can speak fluently in English.
Dislikes (Part time work): In recent years employers demand German B1 or higher even for basic jobs. I haven't gotten part-time yet so I cannot comment more. The university provides on campus jobs/hiwis which one can get by talking to the concerned professor. Hiwis are particularly student jobs, so they are pretty manageable with studies.

Learn German at any cost before joining.
Tips: Be prepared for self study as Germans don't spoon feed you at all. Independent studies, manageining paper work, everything you have to do by yourself. Learning basic German early really helps you to get settled smoothly, for part-time jobs and making good friends.
Likes (Public transportation): Beacuse its simple, cheap, convenient, offers reliability and easy connectivity. It's mostly punctual and makes the daily commute very easy. Tramps work the entire night and multiple options are available, including wide RE options are available which connect you to the rest of Germany.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Germany offers good post study opportunities and visa support but finding a job depends on your German language skills, a lot and networking, competition, and understanding of the job market. With internships and networking it does improve a lot.

Look out for accommodation quickly.
Tips: Making friends is not easy, and loneliness abroad is real. Dont miss the classes, go for all the networking events and start looking for accommodation as soon as possible. You can apply for Hiwi jobs from home itself. At least complete B1 for a smooth life.
Likes (Public transportation): Because it's too convenient. You have one Deutschland ticket and you can access all the trams, REs and buses on that ticket. It comes with a monthly subscription and students get a discount for that ticket too. So it's pretty convenient. But you can't travel in ICE with a Deutschland ticket.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): As german language somewhat matters a lot, you need to know which companies to target; your CV cover letter varies company to company. Also, good networking is required sometimes to land your dream job. Plenty of options are available, but how to target them depends on you.

Many international events and get-togethers.
Tips: First, make sure you have good German speaking skills at least A2- B2 level. Make sure you get affordable houses. Also, it's optional to study French since the state is near France. The German in Saarland is a bit different to High German (hoch Deutsch). The best experience you can have here.
Likes (Part time work): There are a lot of international students and the support provided by the university is also really good. There are events and a lot of meet and greet and also an international council.
Dislikes (Student Life): The university has a great atmosphere. The student and faculty are very nice. Also most of the facilities are available in the university for example gym, library and the rest of the sports ground. They provide many IT related courses. It's well known for the Cyber Security course.

New opportunities, hard work and determination is a must.
Tips: Students should know which course they want to study before joining the university. The courses are tough, and it’s better to be fully motivated before you start studying. I am partially satisfied with my university and my time in Germany. However, there is still hope for new students who are thinking of joining. The German language is also critical. It will be difficult to get a job without it.
Likes (Student Life): Student life is really great at Saarland University. The lectures are mostly in the afternoon, and we can arrange our own schedules to give us free time. There are also many free events organised for international students every week, so there’s always something for us to do in the evenings or on the weekends.
Dislikes (Value for money): There is no tuition fee as it is a German public university, but the program is more theoretical and research-based. It is a 95% research-based course, so I believe corporate-level practical skill sets cannot be gained just through the program. It's the best university if you want to pursue a Ph.D. afterwards.

Amazing experience with lots of opportunities.
Tips: The course requires your attention; you can't just study one night before the exam to pass. You need to study regularly and attend the lectures and tutorials in order to pass the exam. It can be tough at times; some of the subjects are really challenging and might require more in-depth research and knowledge of the topic. The faculty is super helpful, especially for international students. Try to often engage and interact during classes. The best university in Europe for CS programs. Internships are available, but since Saarbrücken is a small city, most roles require German language fluency.
