The USIEF or United States India Educational Foundation, which was previously known as the United States Educational Foundation in India, is an international foundation meant to help students understand higher education in India and US. Its primary focus is on administering Fulbright Program to Indian and American students and professionals, advising Indian students about higher education opportunities in US, encouraging engagement of Fulbright scholars and connecting higher education institutions in the US and India. In addition to administering this, the Foundation also provides Fulbright grants, like New Century Scholars Program, the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowships, International Fulbright Science and Technology Award, Teacher Exchange Program, and the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program.

USIEF major activities

  • Providing Fulbright-Nehru and other various Fulbright Fellowships for Indian and American students, professionals and faculty.
  • Promoting dialogue among Fulbright students and their communities as an extension of educational exchange.
  • Advising Indian students interested in pursuing higher education in US, and for US students interested in studying in India as well.
  • To serve as a resource for fostering relations between higher education institutions in the US and India through the office of US, which is the India Higher Education Cooperation (USIHEC)

EducationUSA Advising Services (EAS) is USIEF's project which provides accurate and comprehensive information to students who are interested in pursuing higher education in US. They also provide information on scholarships in the US. EAS does not rank any colleges or universities, but they guide students in their pursuit of US degree. They also organize education fairs, seminars and workshops on application procedures, and pre-departure orientation programs. USIEF advising centers are located at cities like New DelhiChennai, HyderabadKolkata, and Mumbai.

I want to do Economics honors. So is there any scholarship exam which I can take up for studying in a foreign university ? And when should I start preparing for it. I will be giving my 12th isc boards exam in 2019.

I am akshay. I was an average student, completed b.com in graduation from open learning delhi university. Due to family circumstances and dad health issues i have to do it from open university as i need to earn as well. Recntly dad got expired.

I got a 99 on my toefl . Most of the colleges ask for a minimum of 100. I am not planing to take it again. Do you think it will pose a trouble?I have ACT on 12th Dec. Will the ACT score also b a problem cuz most colleges have deadlines by 31dec?

I will give my pre boards in January 2016 and will be applying for 2016 fall, not 2017 fall sry. However I ve taken all the other tests. Act, sat subject test, toefl. And will have scores before the deadline most probably. Do u still think it will be a problem if I do not have my std12 report?

Hi Aditya, you can still apply while still in 12th. Universities will grant you conditional admission that is you must submit your final 12th reports once they are out or else admissions will be withdrawn. Can I join an American college without my std. 12 results. I m thinking of applying for 2017 fall n won't have my results wen registering for college. Will I have to drop out for an year?

You can ask the college if they will accept accept provisional scores or not. However if you haven't given your pre-boards by the application deadline then you may have to apply next year.
