Five Stanford Students Awarded Marshall Scholarship

Five students of Stanford University have been awarded the prestigious Marshall Scholarship. These five students are - Ben Fischer ’24, Angelina Chan ’24, Alina Wilson ’24, Jaeah Kim ’25, and Jessica Yan ’24.

All the selected students will go to the UK soon and they have different aspirations and paths. Marshall scholarships are fully funded scholarships and allow students to study at any UK university in any field.

Dame Karen Pierce, British Ambassador to the US, stated at the Marshall Scholarship’s official website, “Marshall Scholars continue to represent the very best of American society, dedicating their time and effort to address some of the great challenges of our time."

Kim is looking to study health innovations. “It was very meaningful to me to be a part of this historic connection between two nations, and I am honored to contribute to this enduring partnership to address shared global challenges,” Kim said.

Alina Wilson wants to make an impact through medicine. “There are so many players involved in something like reducing vaccine-preventable deaths, which is something I hope to be part of one day,” Wilson said.

Jessica Yan to work around climate change. She will spend her first year at Oxford to study the intersection of climate and economics.

Ben Fischer to forge better connections using social media. Angelina Chan will work to discover therapeutic strategies for cancer.

John Raine, the chair of the Marshall Aid Commemoration Commission stated, “Marshall Scholars are powerful advocates for excellence across a wide range of disciplines — it is fantastic to see such a diverse group of future leaders."

Stanford University Freezes Staff Hiring

An email has been sent in this regard and it was stated that Stanford is implementing a freeze on staff hiring. University spokesperson Dee Mostofi stated in the mail - “[The freeze] will affect hiring for staff employee positions for an undetermined duration."







"The University’s endowment “supports roughly two-thirds of the budget for undergraduate and graduate financial aid, as well as a significant portion of faculty salaries, research, and key programs like libraries and student services," added the mail.
