Hong Kong University Announces "Unconditional Offers" For Harvard International Students

Study Abroad: Amid the ongoing tension due to Trump's crackdown on elite universities in the US, Honk Kong University has announced support for the international students of Harvard University.

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has announced "unconditional offers" to international students of Harvard University US. The university has said that it would ensure a smooth transition for Harvard foreign students by providing credit transfers, prioritizing expedited admissions, and offering support, including housing and visa assistance.

Guo Yike, the provost at HKUST, said, "Diversity fuels creativity and progress. We are prepared to welcome Harvard students into our community, offering them the resources and vibrant environment needed to thrive in their fields," as quoted by Newsweek.

The Backdrop Of HKSUT Support To Harvard International Students

Recently, there have been escalating tensions between Harvard University and the US government. Harvard University has also filed a lawsuit against the US government, saying that it government's decisions are going to affect scores of foreign students. The Trump administration has been blocked by a US judge from revoking Harvard University's ability to enroll international students. While commenting on this, the US government said that the revocation is a "blatant violation" of the US Constitution.

Harvard University said, "With the stroke of a pen, the government has sought to erase a quarter of Harvard's student body, international students who contribute significantly to the university and its mission," as reported by India Today.

While commenting on the X platform, HKUST said, "In light of global academic shifts, HKUST is extending an open invitation to international students currently enrolled at, or holding confirmed offers from, Harvard University to continue their academic journey with us. This initiative comes in response to evolving global academic landscapes and reinforces HKUST’s commitment to fostering a diverse, world-class learning environment.
