Monash University, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya ink MoU for Railway Engineering Research and Education

Study in Australia: Monash University, Australia and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) have joined forces by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The idea is to collaborate in education, research, and executive training in railway engineering.

The event was hosted at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi by Dr Monica Kennedy, Minister of Commercial and Head of Austrade South Asia. It was signed by Professor Manoj Choudhary, Vice-Chancellor, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya and Professor Craig Jeffrey, Deputy Vice-Chancellor-International and Senior Vice-President, Monash University.

While speaking about the agreement, Professor Craig Jeffrey said “I am delighted for Monash University to be partnering with GSV, India’s first University in the Transportation and Logistics sectors. Monash IRT is continuously developing new technologies to support increasing productivity and safety requirements while reducing risks and costs. The Institute has an established track record in solving railway-related technical issues, and its solutions have been adopted by railway systems throughout the world. This new partnership between Monash IRT and GSV is a further expansion of Monash’s engagement with India.”

Professor Manoj Choudhary said, “GSV is an industry-driven and innovation-led University with a relevant mandate to significantly impact national development through the transportation and logistics sectors. Railways are the lifeline of the country’s transportation sector, and with rapid technological advancements, the railways sector is undertaking a transformative journey towards Viksit Bharat. We have much in common with Monash University, a research-intensive university that works with leading institutions and industry for global impact








GSV, Monash University agreement: More details

The joint research lab will be set to focus on advanced technological railway engineering. The partnership will explore the opportunities to advance Indian and Australian railway systems and also for collaboration on future industrial projects which can be beneficial for both the institutes.







GSV is a Central University which was established through an Act of Parliament in 2022. Ministry of Railways, Govt. of India has sponsored the university and the first Chancellor is Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and IT.
