Study Abroad: Health Sciences at GUMC gets new Executive Vice President - Dr. Norman J. Beauchamp Jr

He will be responsible for upholding the school’s mission of teaching, patient care and research and will work closely with MedStar Health, Georgetown’s academic health system partner.
Georgetown University Medical Center Health Sciences appointed a new Executive Vice President - Dr. Norman J. Beauchamp Jr., a nationally renowned neuro-interventional radiologist and clinical educator. He will join the university on July 1.
“As we strengthen our medical centre and deepen our university-wide commitment to health, I am excited and honoured to welcome Dr. Beauchamp as the next leader of our GUMC. He brings tremendous leadership and energy and has demonstrated a deep dedication to our vision for the future of health sciences at Georgetown and the mission of our university," said Georgetown President John J. DeGioia.
Dr. Norman J. Beauchamp currently serves as the executive vice president for health sciences at Michigan State University. Here, he spearheaded the creation of the Office of Health Science, which brought together the university’s allopathic (MD) medical schools, clinical practice, and graduate and undergraduate nursing education.

Dr. Norman J. Beauchamp held top leadership positions at Johns Hopkins University, MSU and the University of Washington.
