Study In Canada: Canadian Khalistanis Target Indian Students, Warns Envoy Sanjay Verma

Envoy Sanjay Verma has warned Indian parents about sending their kids to study in Canada. He shared the tough situations the Indian students face in the country.
While talking to the media, Sanjay Verma, the Indian High Commissioner to Canada talked about the harsh realities of studying in Canada and also expressed deep concerns for the students who are going to Canada to pursue higher education.
He talked about what issues Indian students in Canada are facing such as - underemployment, substandard living conditions, and the increasing influence of Khalistani elements in Canada.
Study in Canada: Reality Check
Canada is among the topmost choices for Indian students who are looking to study abroad. However, there are challenges that have been highlighted recently, such as students waiting in long queues to get part-time jobs as waiters and servants.
The diplomat also highlighted that students who go from affluent families in India might be forced to live in cramped spaces, they might be sharing a single room with eight more students.
He said that most of them go there with the expectation of making a promising career through a world class education but they end up enrolling in an institute that provides them minimal classes and they then get only low-wage jobs just to meet ends.
As per him, rather than focusing on their education, the students mostly are dependent on doing part-time jobs. "A whole week they work at a store, as a daily wager," he said, as reported by TOI.
"Many students, despite their qualifications, are compelled to take on jobs as cab drivers or other odd roles, diverging from their original aspirations," he added.
Khalistani Terrorists In Canada
He opened up about the Khalistani terrorists in Canada and warned Indian parents that these Khalistani terrorists in Canada recruit Indian students.
In an interview with NDTV, he said, "Khalistani operatives usually lure Indian students in Canada with the promise of stable money."
"Indian students in Canada should be aware of their surrounding and resist radicalisation attempts by Khalistani terrorists and extremists," he added.
“How this (Khalistani terrorists' outreach to Indian students in Canada) works is... given the condition of that economy there are few jobs... so students are offered money and food, and this is how Khalistani terrorists and extremists influence them with nefarious plans," he further added.
