University of Canberra in Australia inks MoU to strengthen educational future
The University of Canberra has signed an agreement with the Canberra Institute of Technology to expand educational opportunities for students.
Study in Australia: The University of Canberra and Canberra Institute of Technology have joined forces to expand educational opportunities for students and also to strengthen the existing alliance between both institutions.
It is a three-year agreement which focuses on sharing specialist facilities, enhancing student pathways, higher education integration, and exploring innovative approaches to vocational education and training (VET).
While commenting on this agreement, CIT Interim CEO Christine Robertson said, "This MoU represents a significant step forward for both CIT and UC. By working together, we can offer our students more opportunities, from enhanced articulation pathways to shared resources that will enrich their learning experience. The recently released Universities Accord final report notes that higher education and VET are two important parts of the same system, each bringing different strengths."
"In addition, barriers between VET and higher education need to be broken down to ensure a more seamless and integrated tertiary education system – with established pathways to and from each other. This will highlight best practice higher education collaboration to deliver excellence in training, design and delivery – and the enhancement of clear pathways to support the student experience and workforce needs,” added Ms Robertson.
UC Chancellor honoured for advancing research and higher education in Australia
Australian Academy of Science recognized University of Canberra Chancellor Ms Lisa Paul AO PSM for advancing higher education and research in Australia.
She said, “It is a huge honour to be acknowledged in this way by the Academy, and to be part of such a prestigious cohort of previous Medal recipients,” Ms Paul said. It has been a great privilege to serve the Academy. The Academy’s Fellows have each made an outstanding contribution to our nation. We should all be proud of the impact their research has made. The Academy is called upon often by governments and others for its impartial advice on science, for example on climate or bushfire recovery. The Academy is a huge asset for Australians.”
