University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University To Support International Students In South Yorkshire
Study in UK: Business leaders, councillors and MPs across Sheffield have inked an agreement for supporting international students. The statement is being coordinated and supported by Sheffield's two universities which also highlights the significance of international students at Sheffield economically, socially and culturally.
A statement to support international students has been signed by two universities in Sheffield including the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University, and also by MPs, NHS, the Mayor of South Yorkshire, business leaders and councils across Sheffield.
Sheffield City has got various economic benefits from the international students and every year, scores of foreign students come here from more than 150 countries and they study and work in Sheffield and South Yorkshire. The 2022/23 cohort of international students brought a net economic benefit of £771 million in Sheffield and £914 million in South Yorkshire.
Experts Comments Reflecting Positive Impact Of International Students In Sheffield
Professor Liz Mossop, Vice-Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam University stated, “We are proud to welcome international students to their new city and region. They bring diverse perspectives, innovative ideas and global connections that enrich our communities and remind us of the importance of cultivating global citizenship in our universities.”
Professor Koen Lamberts, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield commented, “We are so proud that students from around the world choose to study in our city and region. Abtisam Mohamed, Member of Parliament for Sheffield Central and Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for International Students said, “Sheffield is enriched by international students in countless ways and I’m proud to say that Sheffield Central can offer a safe, inviting home alongside a world-class education. As a Co-Chair of the APPG for International Students, I am pleased to see leaders from across our city and region coming together to show our support, so that they know they are welcome here.”
