About Oxford Brookes University
Established in 1992, Oxford Brookes University is a public university based in Oxford, England. Oxford Brookes University History
Formally opened as a university in 1992, its history can be traced back to 1865 when it began as the Oxford School of Art in a room on the ground floor of the Taylor Institution. In 1870, the School of Science opened. 1881 saw the Technical Instruction Committee take over its operations, and it was renamed to the Oxford City Technical School. John Henry Brookes took the position of the Vice Principal and the Head of School of Art in 1928.
