About Kazan Federal (Volga) University
KFU was founded as a Russian-based public university in Kazan in 1804 as Imperial Kazan University and is an acknowledged center of academic excellence engaged in various forms of international cooperation with 300+ cooperation agreements with partners from 64 countries. History
From 1810-1820, a number of departments laid foundations for further scientific schools such as Mathematics, Clinical, Medical, etc. In the year 1850, the world famous Kazan Linguistic Medical School was founded. From 1844-1847, Leo Tolstoy studied at KFU. In 1996, the President of Russia included KFU in the Register of Cultural Heritage sites of the Russian Federation.
