While not many reasons are needed to study in France, one might be considering the costs that come attached. And though undergraduate programs have low tuition fee, the same is not the case with master's programs. But worry not. If you wish to study in France, have a look at the various Scholarships available for International Students in France. These scholarships in France are also available for Indian students. Apart from this, the French Embassy also promotes scholarship schemes co-financed with private and public partners including academic partners as well.

  • The French Embassy in India and Krishnakriti Foundation offer four joint scholarships in the field of visual art and architecture for students. These scholarships are offered for a period of 6 to 9 months and the aspirants are trained in established French art and architecture schools.
  • The French Embassy in India and the Neemrana Music Foundation in New Delhi jointly offer two scholarships in the field of Western Classical Music for musicians and singers. These scholarships are offered for a period of one year and the aspirants are trained in renowned French music schools.

The list includes well-known and famous Eiffel Scholarships as well as some University-Based scholarships. While the criteria might vary, most of the scholarships require the highest level of academic record and aptitude. To apply, for these scholarships, the students have to write an essay to convey the reason why they are eligible candidates. For university-based scholarships, the students would have to apply directly to the scholarships and for the Eiffel Scholarships, the students have to apply via Campus France.   • Merit-Based Scholarships open to all International Students

A monthly allowance of €1,181 for Masters Students and €1,400 for Research Students. Also includes Health Insurance, one return trip fare, and cultural activities. May or may not include accommodation allowance

Ile-de-France Masters Scholarships
  • Students of select French Universities in the Ile de France region applying for Master’s Program and are below 30 years.
  • Master degree in any field of study (except Specialized Masters, and MBA)
  • Opens in the month of February and closes by end of March
A lump sum amount of up to €10,500 per student for the duration of the stay.
The Emile-Boutmy Scholarship / International Masters Mobility Scholarship
  • Highly Meritorious students that apply for and get selected in Undergraduate and Master’s program in the universities that form the UPSC
  • Bachelors and Master’s Degree
  • Scholarship Applications for UG courses usually close by end of April or the beginning of May. For PG courses, the applications close by March
  • At UG Level: Varies to about €7,300 per year for tuition and €5,000 per year towards living costs for the 3 years of study. Might also be given as a lump sum of €19,000 for the entire program. 
  • For PG Level Programs: Varies to about €10,000 per year to cover tuition fees and another €6,000 for living costs. Might also be offered a lump sum of €19,000 for two years of study.
École Normale Supérieure
  • Merit-Based Scholarships open to all International Students
  • Master’s Program at the University in either Sciences or Humanities
  • Applications open in December and close by February of the following year

Foundation of École Polytechnique Scholarships
  • Excellence Scholarships as well as Need-based scholarships to exemplary candidates

Ampere Scholarships of Excellence

  • Master’s Program in  Exact Sciences, Arts, Human, and Social Sciences

Université de Lyon Masters Scholarships

  • A variety of Merit-Based, Need-Based scholarships are available to international students with exceptional talent
