BSc Business Management and English Language - Batch of 2025
3.8
A practical and career-focused university experience
Tips: Aston is a really solid shout if you want something hands-on that actually prepares you for a job. The modules are pretty well put together and focus a lot on real-world business stuff, so you aren't just staring at textbook theories all day. You do need to get your time management sorted right away though, since they throw a nonstop mix of assignments, group work, and presentations at you. Vibe-wise, the campus is super diverse and friendly. I didn't deal with any culture shock or face any kind of discrimination when I got here, which was a huge relief. I didn't end up getting a scholarship myself, so definitely look into that and apply early if you're trying to snag one.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I went with a 3 for post-study jobs mostly because the UK market is just brutally competitive right now, especially for anyone needing a visa. Sure, there are companies out there willing to sponsor you, but the slots are super limited. Most places just straight up prefer people who already have local work rights, or they throw massive hurdles in your way with strict requirements. You honestly have to start hunting for jobs day one. Shortlists take forever, so you’re basically forced to grind on LinkedIn, hit every career fair, and try to lock down internships just to stand out. Most of what's available falls into typical corporate tracks like data, finance, marketing, or general graduate schemes. The starting salaries aren't terrible, but actually locking down that sponsorship is the real nightmare. The opportunities are out there, but don't expect it to be easy—it takes a ton of resilience.

Great place to study in.
Tips: Studying here has been a learning journey for me. The city is very lively and student friendly so you'll have an easy time adjusting and the campus is very diverse and accepting. Most modules focus on coursework, case studies and group presentations.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation is super affordable but not very necessary in our case as the city is very walkable and well connected as well. The campus is located in a very prime spot so it is pretty easy to get around here.

MSc Accounting and Finance - Batch of 2025

It is a good university.
Tips: Skill up is important. There are multiple scholarships available. Look up the university website. Start working on your CV, interview skills as soon as possible. Most of the university courses have group activities, presentations. Most of the exams are based on real life case studies.
Likes (Student Life): We get to meet people from all over the world and it is incredible to know about their culture, diversity, etc. The university organises events to help students meet, these are fun events. Celebration of all festivals are done. The annual 2 day party is fun.
Dislikes (Internships): There are no options for internships for international students. One has to be a permanent resident or a citizen. International students can apply for graduate roles, which are entry-level jobs that require less than 2 years of experience. University helps with CV interviews, etc.

MSc Strategic Marketing Management - Batch of 2025
4.0
There are no career fairs and job opportunities.
Tips: I can see many changes in myself after joining Aston University. I have improved a lot, my confidence has improved, my conversation skills and, of course, academically, I've learned a lot. I received a January intake scholarship that was £45000. I am satisfied with my university.
Likes (Public transportation): Aston University's Birmingham campus is well-connected to the city, as it's located in the city centre. This makes it easy to access restaurants, shopping malls, stores, and places to hang out. Cabs, buses, and trains are readily available, and the public transportation system is similar to other UK cities.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The university provides minimal CV assistance. There are no career fairs, and job opportunities seem more abundant for Bachelor's graduates than for Master's students. Furthermore, sponsored jobs are scarce.

MSc Strategic Marketing Management - Batch of 2024
3.1
The UK currently offers very limited skilled worker visa options for marketing roles.
Tips: Cultural shifts should ideally occur in a foreign land. They were a valuable learning experience but the university clubs made the adaptation process easier. I secured a part time job as a Marketing specialist with the assistance of my subject mentor which paid me the minimum hourly rate. I had higher expectations for my course in terms of academics. It undoubtedly provided me with theoretical knowledge it failed to prepare me adequately for the UK job market. The UK job market was relatively stagnant making it challenging for international students to find jobs during the course and even after graduation. Consequently we faced financial difficulties due to the high cost of living.
Likes (Public transportation): The public transportation system in this city has great connectivity, whether it's buses or trains. Once you get the hang of using the apps, it becomes very convenient. The public transport is fairly affordable. There are discounts and cards available for students discount and other types of discounts.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The UK currently offers very limited skilled worker visa options for marketing roles. Pursuing a work visa through study routes is not only extremely costly but also comes with no job guarantee after graduation. I would never consider permanent immigration to the UK, given its current growth rate and job market. I prefer to grow, learn, and build experience in India.
