How the module system works in DMU
Tips: Before you start at DMU, you really need to be clear about what you want out of your degree and be ready to pick up new concepts incredibly fast. You’ve got to milk all the campus resources you can get your hands on while you’re here. The university itself is honestly great, but at the end of the day, teaching yourself is always going to be the secret to surviving. Things can get completely overwhelming here because of DMU's block teaching approach, where you focus intensely on just one module at a time rather than juggling four at once. Because the pace is so fast, if you don't stay on top of the material yourself, you will fall behind before you even realize it. You really have to take the initiative, use the library, and dive into independent study to actually make sense of everything.

De Montfort University- Good ROI University
Tips: Before you lock anything in, you genuinely need to do some deep research into the exact course modules DMU offers for your specific program. It’s always smarter to pick a uni based on what you’re actually going to learn and the practical skills you'll get out of it rather than just going by the brand name. A place like DMU is actually a massive win when it comes to getting your money's worth. Leicester as a city is way more affordable compared to living in a massive hub like London so your rent and daily expenses won't drain your bank account. When you combine that lower cost of living with the solid career support and industry placements DMU provides, you end up getting a really great return on what you put in. Just make sure the syllabus aligns with your career goals before you apply so you don't end up wasting your time.
Likes (Indian Food): The university is in Leicester, a city known to host a large Asian population; hence, Indian food and flavors are easily accessible. You also get a lot of multicultural cuisines around the city. It feels like home away from home. Just don't worry about food.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The current visa rules in the UK are very stringent making it very difficult for an international student to secure a work permit. The government has raised the salary thresholds for almost every sector so if you don't have much experience in your field, it's very difficult to meet those numbers.

De Montfort University Leicester- Goods and Bads
Tips: De Montfort University has a mix of people from around the globe. Students respect different cultures, and discrimination is found rare. The staff are also from different parts of the world. The students should be mentally prepared to manage both their academics and part-time jobs. DMU provides fully funded scholarships, which the students can browse through on their website. I am happy with the facilities the university has provided. However, the UK's more policies regarding the expulsion of immigrants are being introduced; students should double-check before spending on their respective courses.
Likes (Public transportation): The university is well connected in means of transportation. The university is in the heart of the city. Public transportation is always affordable and convenient. The roads are well designed for pedestrians. The university is a 20-min walk from the main bus station.
Dislikes (Internships): For international students, it's very hard to find internship options. There are students who come with a placement year. This might help them to find internship opportunities since there is an additional year to help them find internships. For sustainability, though job opportunities are more, again, finding placements is a tough job like any other field.

Leicester is a very diverse city.
Tips: Leicester is a very diverse city, which helps to easily adjust to and be a part of. DMU is easy to navigate and the staff are really helpful. There are scholarships you can apply but I wasn't aware of them when I applied which is a same. The students' union team at the campus centre is really helpful with helping you find jobs and other things to help you settled into the campus.
Likes (Student Life): Amazing student life. So many events to attend and meet new people. Since university is in the heart of the city it's easy to get to shops and city centre as well. Melton Road is a part of the city that is basically a smaller version of India; there are a lot of Indian shops where you can do almost any Indian shopping.
Dislikes (Internships): Kind of difficult to find internships especially at the current moment as an international student. Keep trying for jobs while you're in the course itself rather than waiting till you complete. Also try out of the city as well since Leicester doesn't have much to offer in terms of architecture if you're focused on that.

The uni is joyful, fun and diverse.
Tips: Experienced healthy competition and learned to be independent and a quick learner. Also, as an international student, I received a good amount of scholarship from the university, well, you will get that allowance deducted from the tuition fees. To be true, I am very satisfied with the university as the faculty and everyone in the university are very helpful.
