King’s College London- Positive Experience
Tips: Studying at King's forces you to grow up fast—living in the middle of central London makes you far more independent, both in daily life and in how you approach your studies. Academically, the teaching at KCL really expands your critical thinking and gives you a much broader, global view of your field. I self-funded my degree without any scholarships, which is a major financial commitment given London's high cost of living. While I was really happy with the academic rigor and campus experience at King's, I ultimately realized that for my specific career track, India actually offers much stronger growth opportunities and long-term scope right now compared to staying on in the UK.

KCL is one of the best colleges for your LLM, especially in Competition Law.
Tips: There is a great program with KCL students, and they help you find extra work to do while you are doing your course. I was the Resilife residence coordinator, and it was a great way to make some extra money and make new friends. Also, LLM is a rigorous course, but you should make the most of the events/seminars/extra classes happening on campus. I also did a language course; the grades are not counted, but it's a fun way to destress while learning something.
Likes (Value for money): Yes. It is one of the top universities. I did my LLM in Competition Law. KCL is one of the best universities for competition law and has a top-notch faculty. They also give a lot of practical exposure by way of seminars and how the courses are formulated.

There are many opportunities to engage and Explore.
Tips: My transition has been similar to almost every other international student here, which makes one feel more reassured. My first semester here was quite overwhelming, but things fell in place soon after. There is plenty of opportunity if you put yourself out there. Sponsorship has become quite rare now, so make sure that you're mentally prepared for all possibilities. I feel the tuition fee for all international students is on the higher end, especially when you compare it to local students, but the scholarships can make a difference. Also, the quality of education has matched up, and if you secure a job afterwards, it seems justified.
Likes (Quality of faculty): I love the campus and the facilities that are provided. There are many clubs and activities being conducted, although I don't get to attend them frequently as I am busy. There are clubs for dance, music, debate, educational, academic, research, and cultural linguistic societies and many more. I mostly spend my day attending lectures and catching up on them by studying in the library on campus. I also get to spend time with some of my amazing friends I MET here.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer cooking for myself than eating out. It is affordable and allows me to choose exactly what I want. In Canary Wharf there are a few good Indian restaurants such as Dishoom Kricket IndiGo Rasoi Manjal and Mala by the riverside where I go occassionally.

KCL College review- good
Tips: Good college, extremely well diverse, offers variety of courses and subject options, good exposure and experience, good facilities. I am satisfied with university and course exposure but opportunities after graduation are less and becomes v difficult
Likes (Public transportation): Extremely well-connected city, accessible from everywhere and anytime. Tubes and buses are well connected. Traveling is expensive in London; however, the city life makes it worth it! Also the best city for walking and exploring in good weather, so nice overall.
Dislikes (Value for money): The tuition course structure is good; however, the job market and opportunities aren’t great! No real-world exposure and job search help. Very expensive course and stuff in general. Exam structure is good. But it's very expensive to live as an international student.

King's College London - LLM- 2024-25 review
Tips: Okay, super basic: moving to London, everyone will tell you, "Don't carry excess stuff from India"—very true—you'll anyway buy grocery items, winter clothing, and household items, so listen to those views. Value for money—It's really on you—network, engage with students and professors, and just explore the city. There's a lot more to develop than just academically—do all you can. If you want to secure jobs and work, apply from the very beginning.
Likes (Indian Food): Too many Indian food options; also, you've got more palate-aligned ones like Malaysian and Turkish and more, so no problem. Prices are expensive, but manageable options are plentiful. Grocery chains keep a well-stocked variety of cuisines so you're set. If you're a student, ask for student discounts everywhere—even if it's not mentioned—most places have them!
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Honestly, the job market is demanding and harder. As a lawyer coming from international areas like India, you have inherent limitations like SQE that you'll have to consider. Sponsorship isn't easy, and permanent residence is harder due to immigration law changes. That said, if the way forward suits you, always try—just keep in mind that there might be more factors you have to consider as you make your way.

An academic Journey of Fun
Tips: Moving to the UK is definitely a shift—the lifestyle is super fast-paced, the weather is completely all over the place and the uni system relies a lot on you teaching yourself though they still keep an eye on your progress. Because of that, the whole teaching style and classroom setup might feel pretty weird at first, but honestly, it’s actually pretty logical, and you’ll get the hang of it in no time.
Likes (Public transportation): Very well connected to go to several places to and from the university. Just a 4 min walk to the underground tube station and several bus stops just outside the campus. There is also an easy option to hop on cycles, and with a monthly pass and student Oyster, it's quite affordable.
