I love Nottingham's campus, people and societies!

Tips: I'm from Nottingham, but I came to the UK when I was 8. For my international friends, they loved the transition here; everyone is so polite, the air is clean, street a clear, the local area is quite safe (compared to India), there are a lot of residential events, there are so many societies for your culture, and everyone is quite nice. I'm very satisfied, and the park campus is one of the most beautiful in the UK. Compared to India, the workload is less, but if you studied in India, the first year is not that hard, the only extremely different and maybe challenging aspect is that it's more practical and less theory.

Likes (Indian Food): Just amazing so many choices and tastes, just like home! I live at home, so I do a bit of cooking, a bit of eating outside bit of eating home food. Restaurants are very fairly priced, some recommendations include Dosa & Chutney, Kayal, Cumin, Thambi's, and much more. Leicester (the hub of Indians) is only 30 minutes away, and they have every single indian restaurant, shop, food store, clothing shop, etc. So it's like a mini India.

Dislikes (Value for money): UK, in general, is extremely expensive, the cost of living is through the roof, the student loan system is a joke, and they keep increasing student tuition fees despite having continuous strikes from lecturers (so not many lectures) in some less popular courses.

A Great Experience in Learning and Personal Growth

Tips: However, it is the student's duty to get ready for the education system, which will be absolutely different from what the student used to in his/her home country. The key emphasis is on self-education, thinking and participation in class discussions. The UK is a multinational country, and I got an opportunity to talk to people of various nations. All in all, I must admit that I am highly satisfied with my life at the University of Nottingham. The thing which I appreciated most about this university was the quality of education.

Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence MSci - Batch of 2026

Good course with excellent lecturers and support but poor university-level organisation.

Tips: It is very prestigious in some aspects but not others. Do research in your area to ensure it's what you would like. Scholarships are rare and hard to get, but not impossible. The university is in a lot of debt, so make sure to read UK-based reviews and talk to students on Reddit, etc.

Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Difficult to get sponsorship for placements and full-time roles. In general, job prospects are declining and becoming more competitive, with poor remuneration. Check the requirements since most international students are unable to stay after graduation.

Indian immigrants at UoN- word hard, play hard

Tips: There was definitely a huge culture shock. The UK is a very individualistic society so everyone minds their own business but it's also harder to find people that will help you. Everything is expensive so take all the free stuff from events/fair that you can. Especially stationary. If you're a vegetarian, avoid eating at restaurants because they charge way too much for not-so-great food.

Likes (Student Life): UoN has a wide array of clubs and communities that sometimes offer tasters or free events. There are annual fair that showcase all the various clubs. There's usually a few to join these clubs. The sports clubs are the most expensive. ResX also organizes many fun (and free) activities in student accommodation.

Dislikes (Post study jobs): Job roles related to economics, finance and accounting are more likely to be sponsored. For psychology, there are very scarce options. Since sponsorship is required to immigrants, its alot harder to land roles which offer sponsorship. The NHS has the most sought after job opportunities so it's worth a shot.

Cancer Immunology and Biotechnology MSc - Batch of 2025

This 1 year has shaped me well as a person.

Tips: Honestly, I’m just so happy I managed to wrap up my MSc at such a solid university. The people you meet are actually really outgoing and kind which makes settling in way easier. My favorite part had to be the campus in April—it’s honestly gorgeous when the tulips and cherry blossoms start blooming everywhere. There is so much to see across the UK if you can actually find the time (and get lucky with the weather). If you're into nature, you’ve absolutely got to go for a trek in the Peak District; it's easily one of the highlights of the whole experience.

Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty for the MSc in Cancer Immunology and Biotechnology is impressive and focused on providing a high-quality learning experience with a student-centric approach. The assessment is majorly focused on exams rather than coursework. The faculty is diverse in terms of nationality and yet very inclusive.
