Internships and job opportunities exist but require proactive searching. The cost of living in Portsmouth is relatively affordable compared to London, but budgeting is important. Part-time jobs are available but competitive, especially in retail and hospitality. Weather can be gloomy so be prepared for frequent rain and could wind. The transition was smooth for me, but I can't say the same for everyone. Managing studies, cooking, and social life was a bit overwhelming at first, but I adapted quickly. The British accent and communication style took some getting used to. People here value punctuality, politeness, and personal space, which is different from home. Independence is key to handling everything alone, from bills to daily tasks, which was a big adjustment. I received the Dean's Scholarship, but it wasn't a significant amount. The university also offers other scholarships, like the Chancellor Global Academic Merit Scholarship, which provides up to 35,000 for eligible students. Overall, I am very much satisfied with the course, university and the country.
Likes (Value for money): The M.Sc. Forensic Investigation programme provides high-quality education, experienced faculty, and access to specialized forensic labs, case studies, and real-world applications. The curriculum is well-structured and aligned with industry standards, making it worth the investment. The university offers good career support, networking events, and mentorship programs like the Hampshire Constabulary programme, which add value beyond just academics. These opportunities can help students gain practical experience and improve employability. Likes (Safety): The University of Portsmouth is located in Portsmouth, the UK's only island city. The University offers a vibrant campus with great facilities for students. The campus is full of various cultural clubs which helps in finding own kind of feel in a different country. The cultural clubs organize various events. The various communities help the students with their daily problems. There are around 140 various clubs and communities. If you are coming here then it's a great choice no doubt. You will enjoy the campus.
Dislikes (Part time work): The University of Portsmouth is well known for its teaching quality and academic excellence. The faculty here is amongst the top in the country. So, no doubt the faculty is top-notch. The diversity among the teachers makes students from different countries comfortable here. The methodology is great in terms of everything. Our department has many international teachers who are well-recognised in their respective fields. Overall, it's a great place for finding top faculty in the country.

Tips: There are many things that students should keep in their mind before coming to the University of Portsmouth. They should know the entry requirements. The acceptance rate for international students is 70%. Prepare for interviews because they take interviews for some courses sometimes. They gave scholarships based on your last course percentage. I am satisfied with the university and course.
Likes (Student Life): The University of Portsmouth is pretty good for students. They provide every necessity that a student should have and the career opportunities are great. There are many events for the students. We Indians celebrate every kind of festival there. There are cultural clubs also which organize various events. There are great facilities for interactive learning and sports. In a nutshell, it is a great hub for enjoying student life.
Dislikes (Value for money): The faculty of University of Portsmouth is passionate and very helpful. They are dedicated towards the progress of students. They are always available for help. They have a unique way of teaching and the most important thing is that they teach and deliver their lectures in a well-organized way. Many teachers from different countries are there and it makes me feel good to see them teaching in their own ways.

Internships and placement opportunities are available.
Tips: No need to worry or panic before coming it is a very good place to study. Friendly, supportive and cooperative with international students because that is how this university is very diverse. No security problem and I, as a girl always feel safe even outside the campus. Library is where I spend most of my time and I feel peace there and Portsmouth is peaceful too on whole.
Likes (Internships): Work placements happen as I said before and they usually happen for 36 weeks I have read that around 17000 pounds are the average package for that regarding internships. So most of the students find themselves on the portals like jobisjob and graduatejobs bright network is another good portal for internships only.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): University organises recruitment fair and career events but these are mostly need-based, most of the time startups come to take part in the university. Also there are many jobs posted on the job board but still, like it happens in the top colleges of India it does not happen here, mega recruitment is something I have not seen as of now but I am still studying so I don't know much about it.

A university to get admitted to
Tips: The buildings of the university are scattered and not in a place so many students sometimes find it a bit difficult to move from one lecture to the other. But with me it is not the case, our school of business is unique I must say! Gym facilities are great but there can be some improvements done to student career support in terms of searching the jobs or making the most out of placement year. Student community is good no doubt and there are many research opportunities too so if you are coming from India think like you will get many opportunities.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Faculty has to be the best part of this university. So helpful and supportive even if they see an underperforming student for them everyone is equal and they also understand the shift in the education system and try to make the transition very smooth. There is a good chance to make a good bond with any professor on campus.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Before coming learn something to make simple things like tea/coffee, maybe some veggies or basic curries so very little money will be spent. Saving is the key to living a student life. Indian food is available but the restaurants are expensive nothing like the street style. I spend somewhere between 175 GBP- 200 GBP on food each month which I think is fair.
