History
It began as Tradesmen and Mechanics Institute, which was created to educate working men in the local region. In the 20th century, it began its transition, with HRH Prince George laying the foundation stone for the start of the Wolverhampton and Staffordshire Technical College in 1932. It took over the status of a Polytechnic in 1969 and was granted the status of a university in 1992.
