Aurora University History
The university started as the Mendota Seminary in Illinois. The school was focused on education and training and rooted in the Advent Christian Church. In 1911, residents of the nearby town of Aurora had raised funds to establish a new college and by 1971 Aurora College separated from the Advent Christian Church, and in 1985, changed its name to Aurora University.
