About California State University Dominguez Hills
History
Founded in 1960, the California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is part of the prestigious California State University's institutional umbrella.
The institute opened its doors when a Spanish Soldier: Juan Jose Dominguez (1736-1809) was first awarded a grant of about 75,000 acres of land by King Carlos III of Spain.
His descendant took over the land & named it Dominguez Hills, after the family.
The California State Legislature authorized the development of the “South Bay College” in 1960. The institute hosted its first classes in 1965, when its 11 faculty members lectured a cohort of about 40 students.
It now offers over 75+ degree programs across its six colleges that fall under its institutional umbrella.
