CMU has a very global campus, so you'll meet people from all over the world, especially India. Lots of resources as well, which you should make use of. Very academic environment.
Tips: The first thing I would emphasise is to plan financially, as CMU does not give out scholarships easily, and even if you get one, it is extremely competitive to maintain it as well. Plus, there are no part-time jobs outside of campus to help make ends meet. Being a part of the Indian student association has helped me get comfortable here and given me friends I can rely on. Also, relatively grading is the norm, and if you're stuck early on, please reach out to your professors; they are happy to help.
