The GRE General section is required if one or more of the following conditions is true:
- The undergraduate degree was not in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering.
- An unaccredited college or university awarded the undergraduate degree.
- The student’s undergraduate cumulative grade-point average is below 2.75.
- The year of the baccalaureate degree precedes the date of application to the College of Graduate Studies by more than six years; however, in this case, the examination requirement may be waived, with program approval, if the applicant’s undergraduate grade-point average is 3.0 or above.
If the GRE is required, the admission decision is based on the applicant’s performance on the quantitative section of the GRE along with the undergraduate grade-point average. A minimum of the 50th percentile on the GRE quantitative is required, but this minimum score does not guarantee admission.

Good for growth and learning.
Tips: My experience in Texas state so far has been pretty positive here with good professors and peers. The faculty is truly knowledgeable in their fields and classrooms often have a lot of industrial knowledge included. The administrative systems are sometimes long drawn and can feel like you're stuck in a loop, especially when it comes to stuff like course registration. The location is ideal as well.

Something here for everyone.
Tips: I did experience several cultural shocks, but at small scales and nothing too out of the ordinary. People are friendly and open, which made things a bit reassuring. Classes are research intensive, but they could be conducted in a better format honestly. Scholarships are given out mostly on a merit basis, and it is helpful in easing the financial burden of the cost of tuition here. There are frequent career fairs and you shouldn't hesitate to check them out.

Better to stay off campus.
Tips: Every student here has had their own journey and goal and this reflects on the school's population. Very diverse and inclusive campus with great connectivity because of its location. Tuition is quite expensive, so it makes more sense to come here with some kind of funding else there are better options in terms of ranking and tuition.

Some faculty is truly exceptional.
Tips: Location and cost of tuition are both on the higher side so make sure you have thought it through and explore your options as well. Very busy campus, and professors are helpful for job prospects and networking opportunities if you connect with them. Can be better in terms of safety.
Dislikes (Part time work): Limited opportunities for part time both on and off campus. On campus, you'll have better chances if you look at some of the less sought after options and if you're able to adjust it in your schedule while managing your workload as well. There are teaching and research assistantships as well.

Tips: There are students from all over, and the campus is filled with things to do and be a part of, especially when it comes to sports and clubs. Classes are very interactive and professors care about ensuring that you are able to keep up and understand what is going on. Post study jobs and immigration have become next level difficult and at this point, you'll need at least a Masters to stand a chance.
