Old Dominion University is a doctoral research university. Founded in 1930 by the College of William and Mary, it is the second oldest educational institution of the United States. In 1962, this university was named Old Dominion College. It started providing master's degree programs from 1964 onwards and Ph.D. programs since 1971. It has been recognized as a research university by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

Tips: I would recommend the students to make connection with seniors/departments via LinkedIn. Additionally, as the course enrollment seats are less, it would be good to get in touch with the advisor to remove holds to register for classes. Moreover, it will also be good to look for assistantship opportunity on the campus by emailing professors and asking them if they have any open opportunities and also, do plan to attend university orientation process to get an overview of office and other important series that they conduct. Also, the college conducts a program known as MINT program which helps international students to know different resources available for students and they also give orientation of the city.

Likes (Part time work): As a student, we can only work on-campus on different positions. Most of the times, the department you work will give you some fee waiver too which entirely depends on the department. Additionally, it is important to look for opportunities from your home country instead of waiting for the last moment after arrival, as most of the positions are already filled by then.

Dislikes (Internships): Sometimes, it's really hard to look for internship as it is not available throughout the year. The internship options are open from September onwards. So, it is important for the students to check them early. You can even contact career development team on campus which will guide you for the same and help in resume building and interview preparation too.
