Stony Brook University MBA Requirements 2023
A GPA of 3.0 in prior academic work is required for admission. GPA below 3.0 could be considered in exceptional cases for conditional admission to the College of Business. If admitted on a conditional basis, students must achieve a 3.0 GPA in the first semester to continue the chosen course.
As an international student, you will be required to demonstrate English proficiency.
- IELTS: Overall score of 6.5 (with no sub-scores below 6)
OR
- TOEFL internet-based: Overall score of 80
The admission committee looks for a minimum GMAT score of 550. However, applications are still reviewed for admission if the scores are less than required. The submission of the official copy of the GMAT score is mandatory for the final processing of the admission application.
Note: Candidates may apply for a GMAT waiver if they think they qualify for an exemption. All GMAT/GRE waivers will be considered on a case-by-case basis. An approved waiver request does not guarantee admission to the chosen course.
English Language Requirements
A copy of one of the following documents must also be submitted by applicants whose undergraduate studies were done in a language other than English:
- a TOEFL score of 80 or higher on the internet version. Test results from the TOEFL iBT® Home Edition are accepted.
- an IELTS test result with a total score of 6.5 or higher and no subscores lower than 6.0
To assess an application for potential admission, official scores are necessary. Candidates who don't achieve the required test scores won't be taken into consideration.
