University of the West: Courses, Admission, Cost

The University of West (UWest) is a unique educational institution that is situated in Rosemead, California. It is a private university affiliated to Buddhism. It is a non-profit WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) accredited liberal arts university that aims at developing the mind, body and spirit of a student along with providing quality education. UWest was established in 1990 by Hsin Yun, the founder of a Taiwan based Buddhist order called Fo Guang Shan and His Lai Temple. The University of West offers programs for undergraduate and graduate studies. The undergraduate courses offered in the University of West are Business Administration, Liberal Arts, English and Psychology.

The graduate programs offered in UWest are Buddhist Chaplaincy, Religious Studies, Psychology and Business Administration. Apart from undergraduate and graduate courses, the University of West also provides certificate course programs aimed at educating students about practical skills that enable them to kick-start their careers. The certificate programs that are offered by the University of West include Teaching English to speakers of other languages, Undergraduate Certificate in Business Administration, and Post-MBA Certificate in Business Administration.

The University of West has four exciting research centres, including the Institute for the Study of Humanistic Buddhism, Digital Sanskrit Buddhist Canon, Institute of Chinese Buddhist Studies, and the Center for the Study of Minority and Small Businesses. Further, the campus of UWest is located at the lush hillside of the San Gabriel Mountains. The campus has organisations for martial arts, sports, and also features a meditation centre and Buddhist shrine.
