History
The Victoria University of Wellington was founded in 1897 and started the teachings at the university from April 1899 onwards. Initially, the university had an enrollment of around 115 students and witnessed an increase in the number over the years from 254 in 1905 to 700 in 1923 and so on. During the early years of the university, lectures were conducted in rented accommodation in the city which is known as the Kelbrun Campus today. Soon, Victoria University of Wellington also introduced three additions to the building of the university and continued to expand. The university incorporated the Wellington College of Education on Jan 1, 2005, and also introduced the New Zealand School of Music in the following year. Today, Victoria University of Wellington has grown into a highly reputed Public university with a large network of campuses, institutes, research centers, and many more.
