University of Reading History
As a part of its origin, the School of Arts and Sciences was established in Reading during the year 1860 and 1870. In the year 1892, the College At Reading was founded as an extension college by Christ Church which is a college by the University of Oxford. The college had applied for a royal charter in 1920 and 1925 that was unsuccessful and by Mar 17, 1926, the charter was officially granted to the college and it became the University of Reading.
In the year 1984, the university had started a merger with Bulmershe College of Higher Education that was completed later in 1989. University of Reading also announced its merger with the Henley Management College in January 2008 in order to create the new Henley Business School.
